This is the way I do almost all of my guylines on all of my backpacking shelters. Its just too easy not to use. It doesn't require extra hardware or difficult knots. Its the lazy but effective way to stake out your camping shelter.

Instantly negating the need for many odd bits of hardware. Love it!

It is really easy. At least to me. As long as tension is held on the knot, it will stay put. Thanks a lot for watching!

Love it . Not knots to untie. Great stuff. I can put my guide on one end. Then go thu the tent and use that for my peg. Loves it. Thanks was looking for simple and I got it. Always better when it's simplest it can be.

Needed this video. Definitely a skill required for the Guadalupe Mountains.

Thanks for sharing your tips man. I'd be more into backpacking but that case of beer gets heavy! Sticking to regular camping for now. Gonna check some of your other videos out. Thanks again

Thanks for this video. About to put two more guylines on the extra tie outs on my gatewood cape for the extra head/foot room. Leaving in a day or two for a three month stay in Cimarron…

Nice and simple! But I prefer using the marlin spike for that. You can tie it with one hand and I think it's a tat faster too 🙂

Thanks Cameron. What is the knot you use to attach the guyline to the tent/tarp? When packing up and storing, do you keep the guylines attached to either the tent/tarp or the stake?
@CameronHall88
@CameronHall88 3 года назад
I almost always leave my guylines attached. (Only time I'd take them off is maybe on a poncho tarp if I was using it as a poncho for an extended period) I never have much problem with them being tangled. I attach the guylines to my tarp either by a larkshead (same knot as on the video), or I tie a bowline in the end of the line and then larkshead that loop onto my tarp. Either way, they're easy to remove.

This is much too simple. I think some knot heads just can’t function unless they’re hitching and bending, sheepshanking and stopper knotting. But wait…we need more knots…thank you Cameron.

Love the coors cohosting the video with you! I definitely see the appeal of a system like this: quick, easy, and effective. If you get some tarp sag, I can see it being pretty easy to redo as well.

Thanks Cameron!! I have the toughest time with knots when hammock camping! This will be helpful! I’m downloading this video so I can refer back to it in the backcountry! Oh and Craig wants to know how you managed that “coors” sponsorship!! He’s jealous!!! Lol

Easy and simple = Lazy. Only a Guadalupe Mountains backpacker would see a need for multiple guy lines and stakes. Good to see you are not an IPA fan.

IPAs are terrible. I do like a lot of craft beers. But I'm fine drinking Coors most days.

I actually quit drinking for a couple years and tried meth. But then I saw this video again and went back to drinking.
