Stalker (Ста́лкер, directed by Andrei Tarkovsky) is without a doubt one of the greatest films ever made. A thought-provoking meditation on life, humanity, and faith, its timelessness is unbounded. The novel Roadside Picnic (written by Boris and Arkady Strugatsky) provides the inspiration for the film and certain themes present within it. I attempt to connect and compare the two while providing my own take on both masterpieces, most notably touching upon the meaning of the Zone and the characters.
Alexander Kaidanovsky, Anatoly Solonitsyn, Nikolai Grinko star in the film.
