This never should've happened. Gonna miss you, Stammer. The first time I saw him play was on my 16th birthday. My parents had gotten tickets for Christmas. I'd not followed hockey at all until then. It was the night he scored with the spin-o-rama off the penalty shot. Became a fan that night. I'll never forget it. Thanks for everything, Stammer.

I don't think JBB had any real intention of keeping Stammer around. I don't blame him for taking the 8m offer to Nashville(which he wasn't even asking for in Tampa).

I have been a season ticketholder of the Nashville Predators for 24 years now... And that level of dynamic offense has been something that has eluded the franchise for its entire existence. All of us here in Nashville are absolutely ecstatic to have each of them. For the first time, it feels as though we can now roll three lines with confidence. This traditionally offensively anemic team just got a shot in the arm. Let's just keep in mind that Josi, Forsberg, and Saros aren't getting any younger either... Plus this also provides ample experience and learning opportunity for the youngsters within the organization. How I wish GMDP would have taken such a splash when he had Pekka in his prime. Leave it to Barry Trotz, a defensive-minded from the net out coach turned GM, to bring it to us. Go Preds!!!

Good move by TB, never invest big money on aging veterans.

JBB did what he had to do. The bolts now avoid another crosby/ ovechkin situation where the team is just spinning its wheels year after year revolving around an aging star with their backs against the salary cap. Its tough for stammer because he’s a class act and he deserved to stay. They clearly couldn’t come to terms and the only downside for stammer now is how heavy his pockets are gonna be. Bolts stay competitive and get younger and Stamkos gets the bag and a chance to lead the preds to the promised land. In hind sight stammer will look back and be fine with the way it turned out IMO. Tennessee isn’t a bad place to be. All the drama is just drama. Its hockey man.

Sucks to see him go, we will miss him. But i think Jake will be a slight upgrade over our former captain at this stage in their careers.

Tampa made one of the biggest mistakes ever in letting Stamkos go to the Preds. They should have bet the house / opened up their wallet to him. Stamkos brought them 2 Cups. Bolts management should be rewarding him not getting rid of him. As for the Preds, despite Stamkos going to the Preds and also the Preds signing Marchessault the Preds will STILL not win a Cup.

He COULD have stayed. HE chose to leave. Ego was hurt from the start of training camp. He had a good but mediocre year and then turned it on AFTER the trade deadline, knowing his time in Tampa was over. All about the $$$> it's that simple. Let's see how he does without Hedman and Kucherov feeding him the puck.

He didnt captain them to 2 stanley cups. He actively prevented them from winning a cup for years, being the softest, floatiest, PP specialist of a 1C in the league. Tampa finally broke through and won a cup when Stamkos got injured. He only played 1 playoff game in 2020. Removing Stamkos from the lineup made them a better team. Thats his contribution to that cores first cup. Getting hurt and sitting in the press box. Him sitting out that playoffs is the best thing that could have happened for the team. Then the next year stamkos was effectively replaced by Point as the 1C, and surrounded by the deepest team in the league. And they won another one, despite him. With Stamkos playing a more sheltered role. Hes a modern Brett Hull, and Hull is the most overrated player to ever put on hockey skates. I wouldnt want stamkos on my team for half the AAV of the contract he just signed. Tampa made the right call
