Oh my word, this is probably the best technique video I’ve seen to cut out stamped images. thank you so much! I love stamping and got so frustrated with my cameo not cutting that I started buying die sets again... I am going to give this technique a try for sure. You are so clever having figured out to print out just the registration marks and scan the finished paged back in! Thank you!!!
This weekend, I took the chance that all was going to go smoothly, and colored a lot of stamped images. Scanned my handiwork at the office, followed your instructions, and am cutting right now. You are BRILLIANT! I will never buy the dies to another stamp set ever again! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much Roxy...You are the first one that has explained it & showed how to do it so that I could understand it...Thank you for taking the time and for your tutorial ...Margaret Brown :)
Thank you Roxy for this tutorial, I have had my Portrait for 7 months now, and there is so much to learn, so these video's are a great help. Cheers Anna.
Thank you. I knew how to print stuff and cut it, but this was very helpful with cutting your actual stamped items. PERFECTO!! Thanks so very much for sharing this!! Fantastic!
This is the most useful and easy to follow tutorial of using a cameo I've ever seen so far. Thank you so much. I've been contemplating on getting a cameo for making my own planner stickers and this tutorial of yours gave me the idea that I could make my stamps as stickers too using the cameo. I will definitely get one now.
Oh no, Roxy, I am wanting a Silhouette now! I LOVE this idea of stamping and cutting out. I need to look at getting one for Christmas! ;-) TFS all your tips and tricks! ~Jeanne
Thank you so much for this tutorial I've just got a silhouette and still learning what I can do with it. This is amazing I love it and so much easier than fussy cutting!! Thank you so much for making this video.....I'm going to have to give this a go!!! Tfs hugs Cat :)
Thank you so much, Cat, I'm so glad you found it helpful. Once you delve into this a bit you will not be able to stop coming up with ideas!! :) Let me know how it goes.
As a newbie (5MO), I've used this technique and loved it. I've been very lucky as I've not pre-printed registration marks, but that's so smart. I haven't understood why people use the PixScan process (critics detail its drawbacks) when scan-and-cut is right there, built into the software. Hopefully this will save time and discomfort, for those of us who don't love fussy-cutting!
They just added scan and cut, thankfully! I could not get the pix scan mat to calibrate for some reason. That said, I actually prefer Cricuts print and cut set up. It gives you better usage of paper, less waste of space.
I've been doing this for a little bit myself but a little different in that I actually color with the fill tool in the Silhouette. Isn't it so.....cool! No fussy cutting by hand. Tracey J.
If you are off a hair on lining up the registration marks, all your cuts will be off. A better way to do this is stamp all your stamps (don't color) onto a sheet and scan it into Silhouette. Trace and detach each stamp (now perm loaded into Silhouette). Now you can put them onto a clean Sil mat with registration marks and print the mat. Color these stamps, load back into Sil and cut out what you have colored. Since you loaded the stamps onto the mat with the registration marks and printed that as one piece, it will line up perfectly. And you can print these stamps out over and over to color.
+Jan Asher Hello Asher, I recently got my silhouette and have been watching some videos to learn more about it. Would you mind doing a video that shows what you mean on your msg.? Thank you:)
I am glad you have this. I have had the pixscan mat forever but can't get it to work, very frustrating! I am also not very good at cutting first and stamping after. Makes it too hard to color image.
Great video!! I love to stamp but strongly dislike fussy cutting so thank you, thank you!! I just have one question, how did you print the registration marks onto your card stock paper, before stamping your images?
Hi i just came across your video and think its great, I have the pixscan mat which i had been using till it got really mucky and takes ages for me to edit the mucky bits out that i don't need on my pics. so of i go to try your way out Whoop Whoop!! Many thanks Lizzie... UK ☺
Pls tell me will this silhouette cameo machine will do all the die cut machines works ? So if we buy this machine we don't want any die cut machines am i right ? Pls let me know , it mean a lot to me because I'm planning to buy some materials for crafting business.
Hi! I just found this and it's amazing! I got a Cameo for Christmas and didn't even realize it could do this. Question: what is the trick for lining up the paper on the mat so it cuts correctly? Also, it looks like you changed blades before cutting - anything special about that? TIA. Keep posting!
This was the best tutorial I have seen on stamp and cut images. Thank you! Can you show how to make the border thinner or no border? Mine are always way too thick. I'd like a small white border.
when your video is starting you have some of the my favorite things girls with another stamp mixed in with them can you tell me what stamp that is? Its the girl in the green dress with her Hair blowing in the breeze
Is this before the pixscan mats were available? I use the pixscan mat and take the pic with my iphone, but I'm not happy with the results. I just spent hours on the phone with Silhouette only to discover my problem is just a glitch in the program and "they'll work on it"... I'm going to give this way a try but just wondering if this was before pixscan or if you just prefer to do it this way.
Misty Elam Ironically, they announced the Pixscan the day I posted this video! I'm not kidding. I think I would prefer this way even if I had a pixscan, just another electronic piece to deal with, or as you found out, another "glitch" ... which is getting old from these companies (Cricut & Silhouette): Figure out your product before you send it out to the masses to waste their moola! :) I'll get off my soapbox now... Once you get this process down, it goes pretty fast. Plus, I didn't show it here but you can actually highlight all the images together and trace and cut all at once!
Just soo pretty! How do you color your stamps so nicely? Like that catwalk-girl at the end of your video or the elephant with that green balloon but a nice white spot on it? I'm in love with it and want to learn it myself :)
Sofie D'hert Wow! Thanks, Sofie! I am no expert but it is fun to color. On these, I used Copic markers, there are a ton of tutorials on using copies. A couple faves (don't be scared, they are incredibly gifted and will give you good tips to learn and practice) are Sandy Allnock and Kristina Werner. As for the white spot on the balloon, you just leave it blank and it will look like the shine on a balloon!
Hi Roxy here it is a year later and I still have questions. Do I need to print sheets with the registration marks on it first? Then I stamp and color? I made a big mess today. I keep thinking I need a Scan and Cut but you make this look so easy and your cuts were adorable.
Guess I'm the only confused one, but please bear with me. You taped a page of registration marks to your blank cardstock, then stamped & colored within the marks. Then you scanned that page, and opened it in Silhouette, traced & cut. Do you end up with the cut image of your original stamping? Or a printed version of it?
Roxyfur, Great video. Can I save all that work of outlineing so if I need to cut out again, I can pull it up at a later date and its already set up to cut those outlines? It seems tedious to do each time. I am soo new to this and want a machine for cutting out my stamped images.
Hi Roxy....thanks for the share. I was thinking about getting one of these Silhouette's but they look complicated. What kind of Printer do you have? I may just have to invest in one of these..... Thanks! Cheri
Great....thanks for the info. I just see so many things that everyone prints and images. They seem to come out so good and wondered what kind of printers everyone is using. Thanks again and happy crafting! :) Cheri
Roxy, Thank you for posting this video, I bought a cameo yesterday and this has been very helpful, But I tried stamped images and it is cutting through the image rather than around it, It's getting frustrating. any suggestions?
roxyfur I don't know. i tried it again today, I stamped 4 images, the 2 on the left cut fine, the 2 on the right cut into the image..Its giving me a headache.....
roxyfur OR, if it is the same image 4 times, just trace one image then highlight the entire image with the trace lines and copy/paste as many times as you want.
Oh Roxy thank you, thank you thank you. This is just what I needed. I could have used this on my 3X3's but now I know thanks to you. I am so excited. Ok what stamp was the lady in the green dress when you were fist showing your already cute image? She was adorable. I am so excited. I can't wait to give this a try. How did you learn how to do all of this? Great big to tight hug!
I just figured it out :) I did magazine design prior to writing and used a lot of design software, so I know enough to get by :) She is so sweet, Stamping Bella, Little Birdie Jane by Jane Davenport. Thanks, Linda!
roxyfur You are a genius! I just was playing and it works so slick. I LOVE it! I stamped some pure innocence stamps and cut them. Then I tried printing the next sheet and all the images printed and cut. I am doing the happy dance. Thank you so much. I love this tip. Big Big Hug!
Roxy ;) new subbie here. *TFS* ...I have a strange question... Is that tray that you have your images in...AN OLD SCHOOL TV DINNER TRAY??? sure looks like it. If it is I sooooo remember those lol '70's baby here *hugs*
Lil StampBug It is! I found two of them at a garage sale and snatched them up! Thanks so much for watching and subbing to my channel, I'm so glad to see you here!
Thanks for the video but I am still a little loss. You did all of that manipulation on the computer and still had to print it out uncut? I don't get it. I am new to this. I thought you printed it out already cut.
smartalecky1 The Silhouette doesn't print so you have to print images out on your printer (unless you are stamping images, then you have to scan them so you can select trace areas for cutting). I works out faster than fussy cutting all the images. Once you scan your image sheet in, you can print and cut them over and over again.
Jennifer Marker good question, Jennifer! Do you see the icon, the 3rd one left of the edit (pencil) icon? That shows the registration squares on your mat. Click on it and you can turn them on. They will print automatically when you print your design or just turn them on and click print, and they will print out.
I just have a scanner on my phone and im shaky i couldnt get registration marks straightened right. Took me all day after watching your video 100 times to finally figure it out. Do you have other videos on cameo?
I do, not many though. You could take it to Office Max or Kinkos or even try a library to have them do a scan for you. Or, mount your phone on a tripod. or selfie stick, that would help.
