Hi Gary,I too am a model maker. i I am also a professional Horologist (watch and clock maker) I use a watchmakers bench for all my model assembly. When I attended watch making school posture and working position was taught, arms stretched over the edge of our bench. the bench height to the ratio to your chest and chair . The bench should be across your chest and your back straight this method I have used since school. check out these benches and videos on watchmakers maybe this can help you. Best wishes

Maybe a small elevated work surface that you can swing out of your way might suffice. Just wear a bib attached to the table to keep objects from dropping. Have seen jewelers use those. Holy s--t! Gary's back!! I have sorely missed your presence, had a feeling things were not going very well. Growing old is not for sissies! Maybe I'll look into that cataract surgery, the night time halos are getting bad. I hope you get back into modeling at some point, but you are so right, if you sit the wrong way it's gonna take a toll. These days I am doing my own Bluenose build and am constantly checking out your video series for help. Stamps, models, they're hobbies and supposed to be for enjoyment so hit the bench when you arew good and ready, and I'll be watching! Best wishes for a complete recovery! Rick

Watched this several times now. Quite fascinating. I remember those pre paid stamped envelopes with the embossed stamp from my childhood, not seen one for many years.

Glad to hear from ya, was start'n to worry, I'm only a pup but me lower back is stuffed all ready so I know ya pain, I use a small stool to sit on that put me bench at chest height, but I still have bad day with sciatic pain like hot wire in me legs, please don't be a stranger you and MR Day got me started and MR Mac gave me me first shout out, thank you MR Brinker.
The Dora gun series of videos and build you did I'll never forget, one of the main inspirations for me to start the model hobby. I hope you get better and do that small build of the F-100, very interested to see what you do with it. But understand otherwise. What else can I say?...Carpe diem!

Gary I drove a truck local 630 Teamsters. You are telling my story of pain an pain pills. To sit an work on my models would be painfully for me. I wear a back brace to sit an that help me some what work on models. It is up to you to try it. Back brace help me for a short time then I stop for one or two hrs an rest. We are getting old an get hurt easyer. Hope to see you doing models. Like your stamps I do not have money for stamps. Hope you feel better.
Gary, I've been kept up to date by some of those guys who have emailed you, so I just didn't think you needed another email from me. I'm glad you are doing somewhat better. I've had severe back pain since I broke my back the second time when I was 16. I've been to the point I couldn't walk and was in a wheel chair. A neurosurgeon told me he would never operate on my back. It's difficult to say what is best, but I keep on. I have bigger problems now. Just take care of yourself, and when you are ready to get back to modeling, just name the model and I will get it in the mail to you. That's a promise! Regards, Solomon
Wishing you the best and glad to see you are still kicking. I suffer from severe back and leg pain myself. I take a pound of pain pills a month but for the last year I found this stuff called Kratom and it is magical for my pain and worth checking out. Be warned there are tons of strains of it and it will take some trial and error to find one that works for you should you be interested in looking at it. Whatever you do dont listen to then liars claiming it is somehow like opium because it aint! Anyway, might be worth checking out... Gosh, retracted my first slightly frivolous comment after watching the whole shebang. Great video by the way, really enjoyed it. It is often not the subject that is boring but the presenter or presentation. I thought that our Royal Mail were well into issuing special stamps (to up the revenue coffers a tad) but looks like the US Postal Service have got them beat by a long way! I have type 2 Diabetes as well. Under control but need to lose more weight. How the hell did you lose so much without walking? I am doing 8-10,000 steps a day plus eating right and it aint shifting! My bad back has eased off a lot now thanks to physio. They put that down to my feet - walking slightly skewwhiff for years plus sitting badly in a computer chair. Now got lots of back support there as you recommended. Really hope all goes well for you - keep us informed. PS: Looked up those green albumns on eBay out of curiosity, they are expensive aren''t they!
