He and Ollie brought so much joy and laugher to the world. Stanley died 56 years ago today. It was a VERY sad day for the world. He was said that he did not deserve to be mention in the same breath as Charlie Chaplin. You are wrong Mr. Laurel. You deserve to be mention in the same breath with all the greats being one yourself. Thank you for all the laughter you left behind in all those films.
I'am 99 yrs old.. I've only watched Stan and Laurel.. And Chaplin from 1926 upto now.. Day in day out.. I smile.for their Humour and 'I cry as I miss them.. I must add the direction and production are still world Class... In total u will never dream of a permanent production and acting like these 2 ever did .'I think they ever knew how loving and fabulous they were... Such glorious simpletons... I think Inspite of their on screen smoking or whatever.. They sure are in heaven a hundred percent for sure.. '
Maybe they laughed so hard at these very funny talented men that they couldn't see through their tears that thy thought they pressed the like button . My only guess
One of the rare entertainment geniuses that can create hilarious comedy at times with little or no dialogue - just mannerisms; gestures; facial expression; etc.
There's so much to love here two of my favourite things are Ollie's double takes at Stan or the Camera or both and the cute old fashioned music accompanying the boys wherever they go , the greatest, not an exaggeration, and always will be.
Stan was born in Ulverston uk . you can visit the museum and see the plaque outside the house he was born. Such comedic brilliance, thanks for all the laughter boys.
I'll roll the dice on this one... 2 Corinthians 5:8 "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." Where else could these two possibly be?
My all time favorite! I keep them in my heart! Back in the early 70s, l was around 4-5 years old and remember watching them every day on tv. Treasure !
Fights would be just hilarious. A pie in the face and then just stand there patiently waiting for your opponent to consider their response and then react.......repeat.......
Stan was from the UK he moved to usa career. Good life there he. Had daughter who died last year. Always talk about her dad how good father to her god bless the men who was on tv so many. Years ago now Always be. Missed today
They were masters of their trade. Almost 100 years on and they're still the best comedy duo ever. What I find really sad, is that despite them making films in an era before TV and so surely their films were box office attractions, they both lived quite simple lives and were never very rich from their work, in fact they had very little relative wealth compared to entertainers of today who earn many millions for one film. Somebody made a lot of money off of them, but not themselves. They both died not poor per se, but with minimal assets as far as I'm aware. Very sad.
Jonathan K, l definitely knew that Stan did the sketches. Did you know that Stan and Ollie started out as solo comedian actors. The studio put them together and the rest is history
Absolutely true. Apparently the award winning Music Box was inspired by Stan seeing a house in top of a stoop and wondering how they'd get a piano up there.
I’ve just got back from seeing Stan & Ollie, the new film starring John C Reilly and Steve Coogan. It was beautiful and touching movie. It brought a few tears at the end. Loved it.
Just brilliant! I seem to remember in one short/film they were going up stairs in a block of flats and Stan was pulling down the shadows of blinds on a wall. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Utterly timeless, never fails to have me crying with laughter. They're incredibly special and their work needs to live on forever. We put some of the films on for my friend's 10 year old son and he absolutely adored it. In this age, that's saying something.
They were such geniuses. It all looks so simple, but actually there was much hard work, and much use of innate improvisation, "go with it" brilliance...
I am a Persian. About thirty years ago, when we were still in war with Iraq, the religious mullahs who still rule in Iran caused us to cry every day because of the martyrs who they used to bringing them from battlefields or due to death anniversaries of the Islamic Imams, who were killed in one thousand four hundred years ago, we had to crying every day. In general, life was very sad and depressed. But at the same time, almost once in a season, we had the opportunity to smile a little while watching Laurel and Hardy. In your opinion, if heaven exists, does it deserves those who cry people or those who smile people? thank you Laurel and Hardy. sorry that my English writing is weak!
Laurel and Hardy were cinematic actor/comedians of yesteryear from Hollywood..They made films together from 1927 to 1945. Laurel lived 1890-1965 and Hardy 1892-1957.
Hamid. Thank you for your message. I am sorry to hear of your. sad and trying times during war. Heaven does exist and the Christian Bible tells us "all tears will be wiped away". Jesus, the son of God is the way to Heaven. "I am the way the truth and the light" We are separated from God by sin. Jesus took the sin away from us when he died on the cross, then came back to life. We need to trust Jesus for our salvation, from sin and death. If you want to go to Heaven, get a Christian Bible and read about Jesus. In John 3.16. "For God so loved the world, that he sent his son Jesus. Whosoever believes on him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life" We need to read the Bible and pray to learn about Jesus. We need to believe Jesus. Jesus said "whoever comes to me, I will not turn away". Heaven is real and Jesus wants people to believe in him, so they can go to Heaven. With best wishes to you. David.
@@DavidJsmith-dk5tf There is no god. Religion is for people who cannot think for themselves who are fed a narrative from a primitive ancient time long ago where the church were all powerful and controlled peoples' lives.
Comic genius Stan in the bottom of that boat is truly wonderful and clever Ollie expressions brilliant Ears and nosey ❤️ Best double act ever - my grandad loved these guys and I've always loved their comedy too
When I was a child, in the 60's, they were still very famous in Italy and very much loved by children and adults as well. When they came in my country in 1950, crowds went literally crazy and the welcome that the two gentlemen received from the common people was something huge and totally unexpected from them. I'm 62 but in my heart there's still that tenderness and fun when I watch their movies. Thanx from the bottom of my heart, Stan and Ollie. 💖💖
Best of comedy ever. Stan was a genius. They both started out in silent movies. Then the studio put the together. Comedy was born when Stan and Ollie got together. They made millions of people laugh. Still laughing and l could watch them every day. Never get bored
Matthew Boreham I liked Morcambe and Wise but they were of their time and specifically British. They don’t have the worldwide, timeless appeal of Laurel and Hardy. They have not been cherished by generation after generation since their demise.
A quote by sir christopher lee described laurel and hardy as the masters of comedy and I totally agree with him and we will never see the likes of them again but their genius will live forever.
11:20 I remember how that made me laugh when I first saw it. Stan is so obviously being winched into the air as a stunt, but it doesn't take away from the effect, it just makes it funnier!
They were both absolute geniuses but Stan was the funniest guy ever to have lived. 100 years later and they never get boring. Also, James Finlayson's catchphrase was "dooooooooooooh". Any ideas who adopted it?
A plus one greatest actor all time. Truly enjoy classic hits movies. One funny moment each film clip, laugh and laugh all day. Sure bright on my day. Thank you up loaded this clip. Love see more. Laurel and Hardy were greatest.
Stan Laurel was always scribbling in his little notebooks these bits of business. He was the creative genius behind the pair. Hardy just wanted to play his part and then get out on the golf course. This little bit of business from one of Stan's notebook never made it into a film but it is the essence of the delicate humor and poignancy of the team: Babe and I are school boys. Babe is waving is arm for the teacher "Teacher, please may I go?" "No, Oliver, you may not." Babe squirming miserably in his seat. I wave my hand to the teacher. "Yes, Stanley?" "PLEASE let him go!"
When Stanley start's playing noughts and crosses on his own no one to beat well I pissed myself with laughter one comedy sketch after another hilarious what a cracking upload 😂🤣😅😂😂😁😂😁🤣😂😁😂🤣😅
