after i lisened to marina's new album i heard that she and her boyfriend of five years split. This hit me very hard because i to had broken up with my boyfriend after 5 years togheter. He's a really good guy and even after the break up he helped me with college and talked with me whenever i need it. The thing about us is that we really cared and love one another but that is all that we had. We're opposites in everything but the love helped. Nobody cheated or lied or do a bad thing, i just think that it worked for some time but in the end we both knew that it won't last. some days are ok some days are hard but i know that time heals all wounds. I'm only 24 and i know that someday i 'll find someone for me but until that moment happen i will lisen to her album a lot. She's such a queen!

Thank you for sharing all of this! I am going through a break up as well and this album is really something I’ve been leaning on. She really encapsulated many complex emotions and situations into these beautifully self written songs. Sorry you’re having to deal with all those emotions, and I hope things get better for you! I’m glad we both have this album to lean on 💛

Yes, i really connected to the lyrics in the songs on this album, very relevant to my life rn. “I’d rather not betray myself, just to keep your love at any cost”. I think a lot of people can relate to betraying yourself by staying in situations that don’t have your best interest. And I also meant that the albums coming out lately I relate to heavily because what I’m going through right now. SOUR and DANCING WITH THE DEVIL THE ART OF STARTING OVER came at the time in my life when I needed it most. Just like this album. Thank you for watching💛

It could also be interpreted as someone talking to themselves/their past selves and their past experiences tho and tbh, I like the song even better with that interpretation of the lyrics, makes it more cohesive and a great ending to the album as a whole.

@@LeonAvalos yes I feel like she did it purposely slightly vague, maybe it was so personal that maybe she wasn’t sure if she wanted to make it very transparent that it’s about him. But I like the way she wrote it cus it’s more relatable I feel. Overall though it seems like she was very introspective when she wrote it. Hence the reference to who she was vs who she is now
