My dad has been a bus driver for tfl and other bus companies since the 90’s. One of his dreams was to do the skid pad test. He talks about it with a big grin on his face.

It looks like Edgware Bus Garage. My Dad drove the buses there and on the skidpan. Then he became an instructor at Chiswick bus garage. It 'might' have been him actually driving the bus. He was asked the drive the bus in the Summer Holiday movie starring Cliff Richards. That movie was also made at Elstree Studios. On The Buses was made in my hometown of Borehamwood at Elstree Studios. I often saw them out filming all over town.
Yes, my Grandad was a bus driver in the Midlands in the 50s / 60s - he told me that they had a skid pan and did this test, along with hill start tests where a matchbox was placed under a rear wheel and they were meant to pull away without crushing it!
Is this from a feature? The stunts and the editing here are very impressive for a sitcom. That seamless switch to Stephen Lewis as he skids to a halt was nicely done too. I wonder how it was done, possibly had him lie on a dolly?
