I remember almost 50 years ago living in Papatoetoe going to school in Māngere East and learning the Haka in the mornings. Can you imagine a skinny little white boy doing the Haka, Wish I could go back to those days now that I have a massive appreciation for my Māori Brothers & Sisters 💖

Pacific cultures have almost lost their language and cultures accross the board. The Americans rescued the Chamorro people (my tribe) during WW2, but outlawed the language and took it out of the schools. As a result my father and uncles only learned it phonetically and me and many of my mainland cousins never got the chance to learn it. 80% of Chamorro residents join the military - a shame the government can't facilitate some kind of cultural re-empowerment and manifestation project to help all indigenous people relearn their cultural inheritance and then create programs that teach the indigenous perspective of colonization.
