Stan the Man, the only player to beat prime Nole in the Australian Open. An absolute legend of the game, my favorite player. My idol. Best backhand ever in hard courts.
@@Mark-ut5oq4-5 in grand slams and did well after 2013. Stan is a late boomer. In tennis it happens rarely, but it does happen. Some players find a better game later in their career. Stan had a much better career post 2013
Say anything you want about Novak but he's the most gracious loser there has been. The way he warmly congratulates Stan here is great, considering the magnitude of the result and how close he was to winning. Novak hadn't lost there in 4 years!
Stan is the only player who has troubled Djoko at the AO and elsewhere and beaten him. You know why? Because he plays good from both wings and has the ability to add power. Alcaraz has the same ability. Waiting to watch him play against Novak at the AO.
@@MrTonyMartino Not impressive at all, it's what any younger player should have done for years: beat the older generation (two older generations, in fact)
@@masters.1000 How is it not impressive going 9-3 against the three best players ever lmao. Even if they weren't at their primes, they were still ranked in the top 3. NOT ONE other player accomplished such thing and Thiem did it by a wide margin.
Probably Nole is the real goat, but when stan is in his best shape, there are few players who may win against him (asking the same Djokovic - 2 times! - and Nadal, whom Stan did defeat in three Slams when they were number one! Is this enough? Think so...!
Prime wawrinka would mop the floor with alcaraz..or any top 10 player in 2023. So would prime federer, prime murray, prime nadal. Of course Djoker would hes still doing it now
I don't know what makes Djokovic think it is okay to glare at your opponent like that. He glares at Stan again at 39:48 in a vicious manner. He is very kind during the handshake, then why so toxic during the match ?
Stan definitely wasn’t lucky, he handled Novak plenty of times in the slams including going 2-0 in GS finals. He was one of the few guys during Novak’s peak to give him problems
29 is well within prime, he just moved on to the next mentality level after choking to Djokovic the previous year. Only the fedtards say its out of prime
@@NamTran-xc2ipwawrinka didn’t choke at AO 13. Novak came back strong. Slightly missed opportunity though with the out call that was in at 4-4 30-40 in the 5th
