A HUGE THANK YOU!!! As a Captain and teacher I have come across this many, many times and whenever I have female shooters this is the first thing I look at. I scanned the entire internet looking for anything that addressed this in stance and found nothing. I've known other female players that use their breast as a guide as well but the majority don't like doing that and I had one that was very well endowed that we had to change a couple things on just exactly as you pointed out! Maybe since you've now brought this more into the mainstream other females will be able to learn from it. Again, HUGE thank you for this!!

Sorry, but my english is not so good, that i could say it in English.

@jasminouschanbilliards Год назад

Most opticians try to sell you a second pair of glasses on special offer when buying perscription galsses. I take advantage of this and ask for the "special offer pair" to be suitable for playing snooker. That means absolutely no varyfocal (Gleitsicht) and for a further focal point than is usual for reading glasses, so that the other end of the table is not blurred. I also choose frames so that the lenses are large and come close to the forehead.
@uw5764
@uw5764 Год назад
@@MrXyzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz The rim of glasses can be a problem. Wearers of glasses often stand more upright than people without glasses. I wear contact lenses but with a special billiard glases, cause contact lenses don't be enough for me. You have to learn to be right with your issues.

I have this SAME issue and all my male pool players would try to "help" me and would get frustrated because I couldn't shoot like a man. I had to watch other female players and ask other female players how they shoot to adjust for boobs. It made such a difference and now I'm moving up in rank and way less frustrated at the table! Great video.
@godjhaka
@godjhaka Год назад
Glad you figured it out thru other people and not so frustrated anymore. As for me I fixed mine not by asking others but by just being conscious of my stroke mechanics and body, what my body did during stroke to realize if my arm was a true straight pendulum and not hindered in anyway. Then I adjusted accordingly, using the stroke mechanic founds in the science of pocket billiards as a base. Now I'm shooting in the top 5 of my pool hall, the best banker in the city for sure.

I've been watching the female player stroke at my local hall and noticed they either have pivoted to have the arm out more or shoot close to the arm pit.

Breast size, men with big bodies, individual physiology matters in every sporting endeavor. For women out there, look no further than Allison Fischer. Allison who many believe to be the greatest female pool player of all time has one of the most perfect stances I have ever seen and she is not small chested. But there is more. Even eye dominance matters. Right handed left eye dominant players can stand more sideways to the shot with less neck strain. If looking at men, go watch some videos of Steve Mizerak. Steve who was clinically obese for many years which ultimately caused his premature death sadly, he was right eye dominant and left handed and he unusually cupped his left wrist to create more room between his cue and body due to his rotund waistline. What is remarkable if you watch old video of Steve's stroke is how long his follow thru was. Steve created enough separation between his body and the cue that his follow through was completely unimpeded and in part aside from his size why he had such a powerful stroke. So, no one size fits all and there are many workaround solutions to individual physiology. A related note about women's breast size and golf. Large chested women struggle a bit more playing golf. Why? Because they can't separate their arm swing from their body turn as easily. This generally results in a flatter swing plane which relies more on timing to hit the ball straight. But, large chested women like Paige Spiranac famous for her figure can still play to a scratch handicap by making adjustments. Years ago when I was a little kid, I know you are an excellent athlete Jasmin....I grew up swimming competitively and the boys knew the girls on the swim team. There was an elite swimmer girl who when very young was nationally ranked. Then, as she went through puberty, she grew large breasts and she was no longer at the same level. Still a good swimmer but her development reduced her speed in the water.

This never occurred to me I had trouble with my stance and stroke because I took lessons from a Filipino who taught me how to spin the rock my back was killing me the problem was he was 5'6" I'm 6'3" I paid a world class hustler that was my height to correct my stance what a difference I watched a few young ladies start pool lessons at age twelve they are now about a foot taller and changed the stroke along the way your video shows knowing how to setup is more important than other pool skills best of health to you

Well done, Jasmine. I remember watching Karen Corr play and wondering just how women managed to navigate this anatomical impediment to proper cueing. It's a situation which needs to be discussed and, frankly, a lot of people are worried about 'offending' people in the political climate we now have. Girls need adjustment coaching to get around this issue and it is very likely some talented amateurs have quit the game, instead of going pro, because they couldn't find a way to aim properly after puberty and didn't get help. This is an issue that needs to be openly and pragmatically addressed and it starts with someone daring to raise the subject, like you did.

I do the same with my students, whether it be a larger man or female students. Really all students, because everyone is different in height, size, length of arms, flexibility, etc. It's funny, like you I've noticed it's rarely if ever talked about, and I have over 100 books on pool, not there. Much like getting your head behind the shot line and keeping it there on the way down, which so many students do incorrectly. Yet almost all pro do this and it's so critical but rarely talked about. Thanks for the informative video, I recommend your channel to everyone, I think you do a great job at presenting information and of course demonstrating it as well. Look forward to more videos!

Very important to address this, thank you. Two things to think about: a) for some female (and male) players the cue deviates to the side only after the grip hand is impacting the chest in the finish position. So cueing was straight when the cue ball was struck and it is more an aesthetical issue. Sometimes you can see this a little bit even with Allison Fisher. Relaxing the grip hand after delivery can help soften the impact and lessen deviation. And b): Stance and foot position is a complicated trade off and there are coaches with very different views. An important aspect is where a player hits her chest. Hitting the upper part is preferred because there is more clearance and less soft tissue that hinders follow-through. To avoid hitting the lower part with the grip hand on impact it can be better to stand more squarely to the shot than sideways (also can help with balance). I know a female player around Fargo 600 who got this advice from Jeremy Jones and shoots better with a more square snooker stance. It also helped with better eye alignment to the shot and better balance. Best practice examples: Allison Fisher, Kelly Fisher. Experimenting with different foot positions is key here and seeing a coach is definitely worth it. Check out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aFVO6KSD-54.html

My trainer actually referred to your video! 🤩 (He's the coolest. 🤫) We were trying to figure out why I keep hitting myself occasionally while working on my stance. At first I thought I'm just stupid, but anatomy plays a big role here apparently. 😅 Still, sometimes I'm unsure if I should use my chest as a little helper or try turning a little as you do. I feel like giving room between chest and cue might be the better option though, cause it allows for a straighter and cleaner shot. A big thank you for addressing this issue! 🙌 Hoping to see you in person one day soon, greetings from Germany ☺️

No need to be frustrated, women can point out problems for females, just explain them like you did. Imagine men getting frustrated because no one addressed the issue of hitting penis, or stomach if someone is fat, while laying down to hit distant shot. Other than that that specific girl could have developed some other way to play like so many other did. Fine video, but really no need to be upset.

I have identified this issue on several students. Here in the US it seems like any direct mention of breasts on a person freaks everyone out (we are a toddler country, please bear with us). What I usually do is have the person get somebody they trust (aka MOM) to use the person's smartphone and video their stroke from the back and side so they can see for themselves where the interference is at. I used to use my phone but then realized I had several boob interference videos on it and felt a little creepy since the main focus was the interference zone. I really hope to live long enough that we can mature past this insanity. Excellent video- I will be passing it along to those in need.

What I'm assisting a novice player is almost always about their stance and their stability. I see too many standing with their feet close together instead of a good shoulder width stance . I will leave my knee against the table and some instances to further stabilize my shot especially if I have a long bridge stroke or shooting over another object ball. Great tutorial.

Male players can have this issue too when they are cueing against chest. I am a male snooker player, since cueing against chest is standard now so I have been thinking about solutions for this problem for ages. Normally they either find a way to stop the cue right before hitting their chest bones or lower elbow to avoid hitting right into chest. What's working for me is try to stop the cue before hitting right into chest. Another suggestion I would give to female players is not to cue against chest though cueing against chest does give player cerntain support and confidence but learn not to rely on this and leave a space between chest and the cue will avoid hitting own body.

Even for a man this sounds more than logical🙂 This proves once again how much sport is still characterized by one-sided thinking. Good Video!

Looks more like your shifting your lower body out the way rather than upper body you could just flatten your upper body more so breasts point more towards the ground. I’m a snooker player though and we are used to bigger table stretching for shots you sometimes have to lay on the table which is impossible to do in a side ways stance

I teach my students to actually stand up more. I do this to help keep their head up and straight and not tilted. I never thought about this being an issue...I've only had one female student, but I hope by me teaching them to not get down so far on the shot maybe won't affect their breasts. I'll keep that in mind.

I have had that same issue as well, but it is complicated a bit more by the fact that I am only 4'11". My hips pivot below the edge of the table. It leave very little room to navigate a smooth stroke. I will have try this and see how I can accomodate both issues.

Great video Jasmin! Male or female you present many good tips on stance and footwork we should work on. I'm trying to keep the cue close and elbow tight...or it'll flop like a chicken!

If a player has a little extra baggage.All they gotta do is move the front foot more outward diagonally to create more room. Going more sideon just throws off your alignment and balance .

My coach told me heavy people and women have an advantage because of the belley and breasts because you have to get your hip more out the way and your arm comes further from the body. Step a bit further out with your front foot then keep your back leg knee a bit more straight. Snookerish

I can see being well endowed upstairs how your backhand can keep running into your bra messing up the stroke.
