Haha to be fair I get like that with friends too. One of my friends has a Bosh MUM, the other has a KitchenAid and I have a Kenwood Chef. Whenever we talk about baking it ends up in a competition which is silly because OBVIOUSLY my Kenwood takes the cake :P
I have 4 kitchenaid mixers my oldest one is from 1941, then I have 2 6 quart professional models, one is a pro HD, and the last one is a tilt head with no bowl or attachments (my sweetie picked that one up at a yard sale for 10 bucks ) that I mostly use for my pasta attachments and the meat grinder and sausage stuffer
Waouw! I'm so impressed ! She sure took good care of it ! My first one broke after 1 year of use, i bought it while i was in pastry school, i felt like i was not a beginner who mis-used it ( sister and mum are pastry too) My retailer finally agreed to exchange it after 4 years because it would break once a year. The new one looks ok now but i still have 2 other brands stand mixer that i use from time to time
My daughter loves baking and a few years ago i got her a kitchen aid mixer in almond cream for Christmas, she proudly shows it off on her kitchen counter so i got her the matching food processor and thermal kettle
Our poor Kitchenaid has endured years and years of 100-500 cookie orders and cakes and it's still going strong! I love that mixer and I wish to everyone who love baking to be blessed with a Kitchenaid on their counter ❤
Don't forget a Kitchenaid can be bought used for a fraction of the price... just plug it in & run it, if it smells fine, it'll work 4 you at home. Besides, they're pretty cheap to rebuild... LOL
@@CrimsonArchon Which means absolutely nothing today. Your Kitchenaid was made 35 years ago when appliances were made to last. What about the new models? I would love to see someone disassemble a 35 year old Kitchenaide and compare it to a current new disassembled Kitchenaide. I would like to see if the same quality parts are used. I've seen many online complaints that Kitchenaide no longer builds to last. Though I wonder if the lesser quality ones are the ones Wal-Mart sells. Sometimes brands sell inferior products to Wal-Mart to sell. I know HP did with their computers. Also, there could be counterfeit look alikes. Never buy name brand on Amazon. Too many 3rd party sellers there.
I e had my kitchen aid 6 years and it’s just amazing , it’s in use all the time as I’m a cake maker , can’t speak highly enough , better than my last mixer which was a kenwood , feels sturdier , and copes with anything !
Keep an eye out, there are occasionally deals that bring them right down in price. Also sometimes you can get them in a colour that no one else seems to want for a much cheaper price. Got mine about a year and a half ago. Originally wanted it in candy apple red but in a pastel blue it was £100 cheaper. Bought it in the blue and don't regret it
Keep an eye on amazon I got a 6qrt at 250USD when the normal price is around 450 - 600 . If you live in the states target and Walmart have them for about 220 (that is the classic one)
I just purchased online the Kenwood Chef XL because my exisiting Kenwood Chef XL from over 30 years ago is starting to show signs that it is going to breakdown anytime now. It was passed over to me from my mom. Hope the new one will last as long as the old ones.
I have the kenwood chef XL. Its really great but I did have to get my first one replaced (for free by John Lewis) because it overheated when making bread I was only kneading it for about 10mins. This was over a year of having it. The metal notch where the attachments go in massively over heated (it could burn your hand) and the top of the machine was hot but not so hot that you'd be worried about it. I'd describe it as warm. I only noticed that the metal notch was burning hot when I smelt a burnt plastic smell. The plastic around the notch where the attachments go in had melted from the heat of the metal! But thankfully the whole machine got replaced.
Nice comparisons, I would have loved to see how the dough hooks work, especially since they are in the three different major shapes; the KitchenAid’s “C” shaped dough hook, the Kmix’s spiral dough hook, and the Aucma’s “J” shaped dough hook. I reckon a yeast dough test would really be an interesting one to see.
If you make dough in small batches aucmas J shapes worked pretty well. I found that if my dough ball was any larger than 3 or 4 cups the dough would move onto the top of the attachment and eventually get in the attaching part of the hook and the slings which got annoying fast. It made me really want the kitchen aid since their attachment thought about that and blocks out the dough from touching anything that it doesn’t need to
@@flowergod12 The kenwood attachments also have that disc at the top to prevent this. If you can afford them, the Kenwood Chef range of mixers are the best.
I have been considering the Aucma for a while now due its affordability. Do you find that the ingredient's get stuck to the outer edges of the bowl? Cause I like the scraper paddle offered b Kitchenaid.
My artizan lives on my bookcase 😂. I have had it for a decade, I plan to pass it on to one of my daughter in laws… but which one? My only regret, my kitchen aid colour no longer goes with my kitchen 😅 xxx
Great review! I've had a KitchenAid Artisan for about 10 years and love it. Only thing I thought you missed was making a bread dough with the hook. It would have been nice to see how they compared on that.
Great review!! How about a review of handmixers? We’ve seen you use them in videos occasionally. Have you tried a number of brands/models before finding the one you like? Thanks!
Hand mixers are excellent tbh. They're lightweight, easy to store and transport, inexpensive (I bought mine from a Craigslist listing), and mine has such a great range of speeds too. In fact, because you mix around with your hand, it mixes more thoroughly than the stand mixer, and often times I find that I spend less time to get the results I need compared to what the recipe says. It does get tiring, and it's difficult to add an ingredient while I am mixing (e.g. making Italian meringues), but I'm an infrequent baker, so overall it has served me well and I had no problem recreating Cupcake Jemma recipes!
It's taken me a while to get round to watching this video because I could see it was quite long and also wasn't thinking of buying a mixer, but now I've watched it, I have to say what a great video this is. The quality of content on the cupcake jemma channel just keeps getting better and better. The whole team at crumbs and doilies really care about the subscribers and I really appreciate the effort you all put in to making entertaining and informative videos. Thank you.
The Kitchenaid Artisan and the Classic are very different in Germany. The Artisan is much more powerful, therefore the Classic is much much cheaper but apparently is not as great
@@kimhoroski Yes, and the Classic is an older machine. People really like it, though. It comes usually in white or cream, whereas Artisan is a bit more powerful and comes in a gazillion colours.
Well girls and boys, I’ll be honest, I couldn’t live without my kitchenaid ok it’s really really old and it’s been repaired loads of times, but I still love it, best think they have ever made, iv really enjoyed this , especially watching you all get them out of the boxes last week , love you all xxxx heather
I feel you friend. It’s hard to find in my country too. I can only get from retailers or neighbor country which is quite expensive. The only mixer that i can find here are the commercial Chinese mixer which is good in quality but i am not fond of the look. Luckily, my brother who live in the US got me Kitchenaid stand mixer at the discount price.
I have the Aucma and bake cakes, make meringues, macarons, madeleines, etc. Etc. It has performed very well for the 6 months that I’ve had it. Don’t forget that you can buy 5 new ones over time for the price of those more expensive mixers. Plus I can hide it easily in a cabinet. The sticky feet hold it firmly in place without all that weight. The whisk looks flimsy, but in your test it outpaced the more expensive ones in beating egg whites to stiff peaks! That was a surprise for me since I don’t have anything to compare mine to! It has the highest wattage and I think the power to the implements is comparable to the other two. Probably longevity will be its weak suit, but what the heck...throw it out and get a new one!
I've had an Aucma mixer for 6 years now, been used roughly once a week so it's been used but not overly intensive, no damage to it at all. As you say it's a little tricky to clean and the older model you are able to trap fingers in when putting the top down. For the £80 if I had to replace every 6-10years I'd still say it's a pretty good hard wearing machine.
I got the Aucma about a year ago and on seeing the thumbnail for this I was surprisingly defensive about my little mixer, it may be cheap but it gets the job done! I've got the exact same colour and everything! I would love a Kitchen Aid but I don't bake quite enough to justify the expense - but it's on the wishlist for another time!
Lol same I love my mixer and it is rather good for its price I got one for my birthday almost 2 years ago although I wish it was easier to find parts for it
I’ve been using Kitchenaid mixers for 30 years. My first one was handed down to my son and is still going strong at 28 years old! My newer model is going on 6 yrs old and gets used several times a week.
I love my Kenwood but like Sally would definitely recommend getting the stainless steel both both me and my friend had the plastic ring on the glass bowl crack. It seems to be a known fault. But everything else great quality. Great video!
Thanks, enjoyed watching. A suggestion for a future video is the comparison in the quality of products used and if they really do give you a better value, e.g butter: Asda versus M&S versus Fancy French brand. Or the same for flour, chocolate etc. Is Dr Otekar as good as Sainsbury's own? Does nice baking really have to be about the best ingredients money can buy!?
I think it would be helpful, but Jemma has quite an international audience, so it'll be hard to find certain brands in different locales. However she has given a few pointers on how to find quality ingredients, for example butter with low water content and icing sugar with maize as a binding agent (?), and maybe that will help out even more!
@@macaoron Thanks Max, well said! Love it when you guys help each other out. True. I think it's not so much about brands so much, as they vary so much and often it can be about what you can get your hands on or afford, but about integral key qualities of ingredients to look for i.e % of cocoa butter in chocolate, caking agent in icing sugar etc.
I would love to see how each mixer fairs with bread making and kneading! I use my mom's Kitchen-aid and love it, but I would be more likely to purchase the cheaper brand for myself. I'm curious how the plastic would hold up to some rigorous dough mixing! You also mentioned how the powder coated Kitchen-aid beaters might fleck off over time: we've had ours for maybe 5/6 years and the paint does chip off.
wwwooooowoooo, thanks to all of you, now I know that my kitchen aid is the best for mi. I used it only for my house but I had questions about the other two. thanks to all of you love your channel and to see you, you inspire me to bake. God Bless all of you and your love ones. ; )
My KitchenAid bowl lift mixer with all of it's attachments is my most precious power tool! If there was a rule that said I could have only one kitchen appliance, this would be it. It's about 35 years old and still going strong. 💖
I absolutely loved your reviews of the mixers! I have the artisan but in my cooking school they have the kenwood so I was comforted to hear all the same plus/minus of each, and I really appreciated that while you had your preferences at the end you gave objective reviews in the conclusions. Very pro guys thanks!
I'm just here to stare at the cute guy... Oh, I do bake my own pizza dough and other types of bread rolls. I have a KitchenAid with 3.5 quart stainless steel bowl. Back to the cute guy...
I love my kMix glass bowl, it means I can see when things aren't quite mixed in and it's really durable. I've had mine years and it hasn't broken and I have the scraper paddle attachment which is amazing!
32:53 - well - I never needed a stand mixer - I'm completely content with my hand mixer - yet I've enjoyed your review very much. You did a great job at explaining the pros and cons of each machine and I feel like if I ever wanted to buy one I'd be very well informed now ;) And your stunning personalities obviously helped with my attention ;) I wouldn't mind to see more videos like this in the future. Thanks for the effort and stay safe :)
Don’t forget that the Kitchen Aid is built to accept many different appliance attachments such as grinders, processors, pasta, ice cream, juicing and even a weighing and sifting and dispensing scale plus others!
I have the ice cream maker and the spiralizer what are usually just use to peel potatoes. I actually got the spiralizer complete in box in a thrift shop.
I love my stripey coloured K mix with stainless steel bowl, it comes in handy if you live in a hot country like me, just pop it in the freezer a few mins before using it to whip up some cream. And you can only drop the Glass bowl once!😖
I bought a kitchenaid last month, thank you for justifying my choice 😂 I the artisan in red on special offer for €380 euro so keep an eye on the sales if you don’t mind what colour kitchenaid you get
Sadly you often don't know how good a mixer will be until you have used it for months, or a year or two. I have had my Kitchen Aid for almost 5 years and it is about to go in to be fixed for a second time. So if you want to make lots of bread then don't buy a Kitchen Aid.
I've owned a bright red Artisan for about 5 years now, and cannot fault it at all! I noticed Jemma was confused as to the use of the small bowl, personally, when I use the meat grinder attatchment to make mince, I use the small bowl to collect the mince, or whatever you are processing. Everything about the Kitchenaid is top quality though, mine has never skipped a beat, and it's done plenty of heavy dough kneading plenty of times.
I have the KMix in white! I love it! I agree the bowl is a bit on the heavy side but I've dropped it a few times and it's still in 1 piece (for now anyway) 🙈
Thanks for commenting here. I have a Kmix which is waiting to be unboxed. After seeing this review I purchased a Kitchenaid and then cancelled the order. I don't know why but I feel that I will be much better off with Kmix rather than a KitchenAid. Seeing your comment made me feel better about my choice. By the way, how is it still running? Would you like to share any tips?
@@sofiapeti2876 I bought the Kmix in 2019, and it is still going strong. By the way, I bought a seperate stainless bowl, and it is so worth is! The glass bowl is so heavy, I'm only use when I'm baking bread, so I can let the dough raise in it 😊
Loved this! I got a kitchenaid artisan for christmas last year! I’ve been absolutely loving it!! I’m getting quite serious into baking but I am struggling with a few things like developping recipes, time management and things like how to start being a home baker! I also have a fulltime job in a supermarket and I’m still going to school! So I’m often very busy. Could you maybe do a video on starting a buisiness from home? 😇
It's really a good video. I personally using the Bosch mixer which I got it free from purchasing hood, hob and oven for my new hse. No complain about it but kitchenaid was always my dream! Recently having a dilemma on getting a kitchenaid or Kmix. Guess my answer is clear. Kitchenaid and Kmix is about the same price in Singapore so no doubt I will be going with the kitchenaid! Thanks for the video! Love it!!
I'm 9 minutes in, just thought I would say the little metal bowl that comes with the KitchenAid is perfect for Swiss meringue, not found any other major use for it yet.
I use my little bowl to make small amounts of coloured buttercream, I make my cakes and ice them In advance, so I make the buttercream for piping and decoration on the day and I usually don't need alot and it comes in handy for that
I have my K-mix for 10 years now. It was super expensive on that time (and stainless steel bowl was a standard) but it's to this day it's one of the best kitchen gadget/small appliance I ever bought.
I find it odd that they chose this Kenwood model. I bought mine (it’s a titanium i think) as a package deal for less money than a kitchen aid would have cost me and I have a tonne of attachments for it.
@@kippsyb82 Yeah, I think maybe they chose the KMix because it looks the most similar to the KitchenAid. There are certainly better Kenwood machines out there (I also have a Titanium Chef). In the end however I do think that which machine you get really depends on what you will use it for. The Kenwood Chefs are great all-rounders and what makes them stand out is that there really isn't an attachment you cannot get for it from mincing meat to grinding coffee.
Color mixing in test: Kmix is spinning much slower and the colored milk is poured in slower too. I also always though that KitchenAid specs provide the mixing power at the paddle, not the motor power as others.
Just wanted to add another comment about the KMix and that’s the attachments. I got two the silicone side scraper (similar to Jemma’s but silicone on both sides) and the folding tool. Both are great and the slowest speed on the KMix is the folding speed (the red speed icon on the dial). Haven’t tried the top attachments yet, perhaps you could review a range of attachments for both the bowls and also on the top of the Kitchen Aid and KMix. Anyway, really good review. Totally agree that the Kitchen Aid is the better one but like you guys said, the KMix is great for a couple of times a week baker and can stay on your counter. 😃.
I absolutely loved this style of video!! I really needed a good quality review on these mixers and this has definitely helped! Thank you very much! I would love to see more videos like this, maybe on utensils? Love youu!
I feel like the kenwood wins them all because even if the KA is more powerful, i think it's too powerful for the différent batters. The egg white look overbeaten, it starts too strong compare to the kmix that starts slowly then go faster. I own a KA, a kenwood (not a kmix though) and one from Lidl, i just don't use them the same way but even if i'm in love with my KA, the first one i bought broke once a year for 4 years before they accepted an exchange
@@berlitzjoseph8797 really? Wow, that's making me feel better about my choice to go with the Kenwood... I'm sorry you face problems though and hope things are going well for you now! :)
Both the Kenwood kmix and kitchen aid artisan both come with a splash guard! I’ve had my Kenwood kmix for nearly a year and really happy with it and had no problems and is a brilliant mixer!
I have an older version of the kmix in candy blue color (light turquise ) with a stainless steel bowl and I love it😊 you can also get a flat paddle attachment with spatula for the kmix. I have it and it is great.
How come on the batter and colour test, the KitchenAid was running faster than the other two? I understand that the KitchenAid can't match the other two on the slow speed but wouldn't it have been a more fair test if the other two matched the speed of the KitchenAid.
Thanks for the review! I was hoping for a review of the dough hooks with a bread dough? Because I think a lot of machines can easily srtuggle with a massive bread dough.
Ophelia If you make a lot of bread buy a Kenwood chef titanium. Whichever size suits. The motors are several times more powerful than KA mixers- the largest is 1700 watts compared to the KA artisan at 325 watts- it will effortlessly deal with long kneeling of large quantities of heavy dough which would kill the KA.
My mum has a kmix mixer and she regularly kneads dough. Her mixer gave up after a year and needed a gearbox replacement. I have a chef sense mixer and it's never struggled with kneading dough and is still fine after 3 years.
I've had my Kitchen Aid for 24 years, and it's still working perfectly. I taught both of my boys to make cookies in it. If it ever breaks, I will grieve for months (and take out a second mortgage on my house to buy another one).
I have one similar to the aucma and it was great to see it compared to the more professional versions. I do have trouble making meringue buttercreams because the plastic base retains heat really badly. It has a hard time cooling down. And it's clearly the loudest. Someday when I can afford 700€ for a mixer maybe I'll go for the Kitchen Aid.
Compare the head part of the balloon wisk on Dane's and the balloon wisk from Kitchenaid, which you can purchase on its own! I say that because looking at the piece that where they attach at, Dane's mixer has the same spring attachment as some of the other Kitchenaid mixers!
If you are looking at looking Kenwood kmix you won’t be disappointed as I’ve had mine for about a month and does everything I want it to do perfectly and all of the attachments have been used.
Great video, guys! Very detailed and funny ☺️ It is great to see them in action and hear the actual sound they make. Before watching the video, I was unsure if I should get the kenwood or the kitchen aid (which is a huge investment..) and thanks to your video I think the kenwood is good compromise for me. Thank you!!
It was useful, I learned that you could get accessories for the Kenwood and the KitchenAid. I was like "scoooore ! When my kitchen robot is dead, I can get one to have something really polyvalent!" Then I check the website, I saw the price of the accessories and I'm now like "Nope ! Not worth that much. I do cook everyday and bake as often as possible. But definitely out of my budget"
I've had a Kenwood K-Mix for around 3 years now and had my Kitchenaid Artisan for 4 months. Having the Kitchenaid has made me question why I put up with my Kenwood for so long! It's currently in for it's third warranty job (two of those have been replacing the plastic ring at the bottom of the glass bowl) and now the glass bowl is completely stuck on the base so it will be in with them for 15+ working days to get sorted. The Kitchenaid is a God send in all categories! I can't wait to get more of them and the attachments to go along with it!
The Cake Club Glass and ceramic bowls never work well regardless of brand. I have had KA and Kenwood and find Kenwood to be better by far. A KA is usually 325 watts, a Kenwood three times that or more. Best bet is actually a Kenwood chef, 1500 watts, all metal gears. They will make bread all day long, which would kill a KA in hours.
