It takes a keen eye to see the difference with those feed ramps. So if someone is having problems with ammo properly loading, on a new build, then this may be the case. Thanks for showing us the difference.

The reason for the M4 ramps is because with the shorter gas system using the higher pressure M855 ammunition cycled faster than the magazine could push the next cartridge in place..The first mod was the feed ramps and the second mod was the H1 buffer..They didn't need both mods and it became redundant, but they kept the new feed ramps anyway..

I’ve modified those older ramps to the newer standard and one has to be very careful about tooling the new dimensions to either the upper receiver or the barrel extension and properly Polish the modified ramps which is also important.

YEs, we were doing that modification in the late 90's, when the M4 Ramps started to come out.

So, if you buy a factory barreled upper, with no intention of ever replacing the barrel, this will never be an issue. Correct?

As far as I know, all current production AR Barrels have the M4 Ramps, I will ask Marty to find out when they started doing this.

Good stuff.. guns are made with a hide degree of safteys when it comes to pressures ...you do have to be careful still and u can obviously have problems... I jst know alot of guns are stronger than we think.. but be safe freinds and dnt take chances..I'dno.. jst gabbing...hav a good day folks
