So what was the point of this rather unnecessary comment as you did not really make a point but threw out a merely subjective uneducated perception. I agree that this isn’t a valid argument seeing as abuse is happening in and outside of religion… honestly more common outside of it. But I understand that this is used as an argument because people have a higher expectation for those who are claiming to follow a certain moral code therefore society is going to hold them to that standard… which is valid. However I will say there are many people in churches claiming to follow Jesus but do not actually do so and they do not speak for actual Christians who are following Jesus. though we should be above reproach and it is right to hold us to our own standards… we are also heavily imperfect… and even when we mess up it does not mean God himself is not still perfect… if anything it proves how flawed we are and that we do in fact need him in this world and should hold ourselves to his standards.
