yep , i saw this guitar on the web about 3-4 years ago, it was an article about the stanford crossroads serie being an "maybach" branded guitar , designed in germany , made in china ( under supervision off maybach ) , ever since then i was wachting to see or i could find a second hand . Last week i got lucky and finally found one , super happy now !

Hey Garry, thanks for checking out the video, glad you are enjoying your guitar! I love it, I've gigged with it quite a lot too and it's proven to be very dependable. I'd also be interested in seeing how it feels compared to a Gibson 330. I've been told, from a lot of people that have tried 330s that it's very similar, but I personally have never played a real 330 to compare it! I'd love to though!

Two things that nobody mentions about this guitar is 1) where the neck joins - all those extra reachable frets!!! I think this is rare on most similar hollow body guitars 2) the colour - you only get that Beautiful yellow when you shine a light on the guitar. I thought they’d changed the sunburst, but the I noticed different shades on your video and others depending on the light. So directed a lamp towards my guitar and smiled 😀

I bought this one last week! Im a les Paul fan. But this one is rock n roll ! perfect for acdc style! The old gibsons 335’s sounds also more like a p90 than a modern humbucker. So the low output is perfect!

I just bought a 2e hand one , and i love it ! . I had an eastman t64v before ( wich i sold because of the neck joining the body at the 15/16 th fret and the relic finisch wich i do not like ( it was a great guitar though and the seymour duncan antqiue P90 's sounded great ( the newer ones have lollar P 90's in them ) , and i did have regrets selling this guitar the moment after the guy walked out the door with my guitar : ) . So then i went on search for a replacement . a real gibson ES 330 is way to expensive and they also mostly have the same neck/body joint at the 15/16 th fret , although i know they have made ES 330 's with the neck joining the body at the 18/19 fret later on ( from the info i could find on the web i understand that Gibosn started to make the ES 330 in 1959 , a year later then the ES 335 , and started to make the 18/19 fret neck/body joined ES 330's later on in the 60's somewhere . So yeah , the other option was an epi casino , but although these are not bad guitars ( only thing about them is though , that the pu's are way to "hot " , about 13-15 k ) , and also : again the same issue : the neck/body joint at the 15/16 th fret . Now , i had seen these Stanford thinline 30 guitars pop up on the web a few years ago already and they got a lot off praise ( also beeing an "maybach " branded guitar but then made in china ) , but the price (1100 euro ) was holding me back a little ( although i bought the eastman t64v for the same price 2e hand , they are 2000 euro new ) , so yeah , i kept an eye out on the usual places : marketplace , reverb ect . And now about a week ago i found one for sale ( 2e hand ) overhere in holland , so i jumped on it and i am so happy i did , i finally found the ES 330 i always wanted and for 725 euro !!!

Hey Antoon, Thanks for checking out the video and thank you for taking the time to share your story, I love hearing that! I really like the Stanford Crossroad 30, I agree with you. It's like a Casino/ES330 but with the playability of a 335 with the extra fret access. For me. that is also why I can't quite get on with Casinos. I like being able to get to those top frets if I need them. I had no idea the Casino P90s were wound so hot either! That's interesting. I'm not sure what the readings on the Stanford P90s are, but they're certainly not 13-15K, they definitely have a more vintage sound as you'll already know! Glad to hear you're enjoying the guitar!

@@LeighFugeGuitar hello , thanks for the reply , i have seen an article on the web about how "hot " the pu's on the stanford are , if i remember well , it was like 9.2 k for the brigde and 7.7 k for the neck , so that would put them in the vintage P90 pu ranch off output wich is about 7-8 k , if i am correct . Anyways , i play the guitar a lot unplugged , it's a real good sounding guitar , greetings from holland !

Great review! Trying to find out if this guitar is "neck heavy"? Does the headstock dive towards the floor when worn on a strap?
@LeighFugeGuitar
@LeighFugeGuitar 18 дней назад
It's got a slight neck dive, like an 335/330 style guitars with the strap button on the back, but if you use a thicker strap, or a strap with a good textured back it won't dive at all.

Stanford are one of my favourite brands that I've discovered in recent years. They make some amazing stuff. The electric range is awesome. I've also got a video on the channel for the Thinline 35 (Which is more like an ES335 - humbuckers and a center block) and the Marquee which is their take on a Les Paul style. They make great guitars! You're right about the feel, they feel like guitars I've owned all my life, they just feel right.

Hi! Thanks for the great review. It helped me decide on purchasing mine. I love the playability and the tones that I get from it. Mellow cleans and crunchy overdrives. But the feedback when playing live drives me nuts! Any advice on how to tame it?
@LeighFugeGuitar
@LeighFugeGuitar 2 года назад
Hey, thanks for checking out the video and for the comment. Glad you're enjoying the guitar! The feedback is part of the challenge of playing a full hollow guitar live. They are fine with clean tones and light gain, but once you start pushing the gain they are prone to feeding back. Whenever I use this guitar for gigs, I make sure I'm fast with the volume knob when I'm not playing! Or... if possible, try to set your amp up as far away as you can from the guitar so there it less chance of feedback,

@bb_lz9790
@bb_lz9790 2 года назад
@@endikacrespo78 As Leigh suggested and as a certain Motor City Madman might concur, your physical relationship to the amp, the amount of gain you're using, heavy use of the volume control and also efficient use of palm muting on the bridge can help you tame feedback.

Hey, thanks for getting in touch. It’s not a huge neck. I’d probably say it’s somewhere between a 50s and 60s neck. It’s a very comfortable neck to play without feeling too fat. The Stanford LP style guitar called the Marquee is a much bigger neck.

Hi Leigh, what is the major difference to the Stanford cr thinline 35 with hunbuckers, if I may ask?
@LeighFugeGuitar
@LeighFugeGuitar 3 года назад
Hey! The major difference is the construction and the tone. This guitar (The Thinline 30) is totally hollow and it has P90s. The fully hollow design is based off the Gibson ES330 style. The Crossroads 35 is a semi hollow, like an ES335, with a center block and humbuckers.

How would you compare this to a Epi Casino?
@LeighFugeGuitar
@LeighFugeGuitar 3 года назад
Hey, Thanks for the comment. In my opinion, the Stanford is the better of the two. The Casino is a great guitar in it's own right too. The Stanford has better neck access. The Casino neck join is further along so access to the upper frets is limited, but the Stanford has a standard 335 style neck join so you can get right up the top of the neck. The Stanford is also a higher end instrument, built to much higher spec. It cost almost double what the Casino costs but I think it's worth it. It's one of my favourite guitars i discovered in 2020.

It's the same body size as a regular ES335 style guitar, the only difference is that it doesn't have as much as a prominent archtop to it as a 335. It's slightly flatter, but more or less the same.

@LeighFugeGuitar 2 года назад
When I’ve used it for gigs it’s been fine, but it depends how much gain you use. Using a fully hollow body live is fine, it just takes a little getting used to. You almost have to learn to control the feedback with high gain as part of the guitars experience.

Hey Steven, Thanks for the comment. I can't see anything on their website about them doing a left handed model. They sell through Thomann mostly, so it may be worth reaching out to them to see! I agree though, there isn't enough choice for many left handed players and I don't really see why it would cost any more to make left handed guitars. It's the same process.

@@LeighFugeGuitar i actually contacted epiphone direct as they have just released a lot of nice semi hollow bodies but none for lefties. They said it was basically too expensive to do them in a left which is a real shame so it may have to be a gretsch streamliner eventually.
