Does anyone remember a car rally about 1976 - 1978 in Weardale. It came along the back road that leads to a place which is derelict called Ludwell then onto Horsley hall but just before that you can turn left and go onto the bridge and pass the old railway station. Getting back to the car rally it ended at the cement works at the top of the hill. It was well attended.
Lovely place, lived here 3 & haft years. You captured our house, conservatory, garden & shed. With my little message to honour all the poor souls sacrificed in wars. On 1 minute 38 seconds of your video. 👍
Great video, Simon. I lived there for a few years and I loved it. I wish I could move back! The town hall has been shut for a very long time. It's strange nobody bought it and converted it into flats or something. The swimming pool was hardly ever open, I know it was run by volunteer lifeguards, so not sure if it was a lack of funding or a lack of volunteer staff. Stanhope used to be busier before they closed the bank. The walk along the riverside is lovely. You can cross the river when it's low using the stepping stones. There's an agricultural show there in September, which is fantastic. You should also film in St. John's Chapel, it's lovely.

@@NorthernExposure1 I totally agree. It's a beautiful building and it's just been neglected for decades. It has previously been used as a disco at one point, but I can't remember the year.
