Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
In this we see 2 of Sir William Stanier's LMS jubilees within a 48 hour period both based at Carnforth 10A home of our friends at West Coast Railways.
We start on Saturday September the 11th 20 years on when the citizens of The United States of America who lost their lives in New York City.
My thoughts & Condolences goes out to the friends & the families who lost their loved ones on that tragic day.
We see David Smith's jubilee 45699 Galatea still in an identity crisis carrying the cab side number of 45562 Alberta along with the smoke box & nameplates of 45627 Sierra Leone as she works The Railway Touring Comapny's The Coast to Coast from Liverpool to Scarborough via The Liverpool & Manchester railway & the hope valley line to Sheffield.
Start at 1 of my 2 local stations at Lea Green we see Galatea in fine fettle with 11 coaches in tow & no assistance from WCRC 47 47237.
At Guide Bridge after Manchester Victoria the class 47 diesel 47237 was removed from the train & Galatea handled the 11 coach train alone to Scarborough.
We catch up with her on the 1 in 82 gradient as Galatea climbs to Cowburn tunnel in the Peak District.
A chance to see a green Jubilee hard at work on the steep grades of the hope valley line with no diesel in the consist was an opportunity not to be missed.
2 days later we catch up with Galatea's sister Chris Beet's 45690 Leander as she heads home to Carnforth 10A after her 2 week holiday in the west country after covering 2 of The Railway Touring Company's The Royal Duchy from Taunton to Plymouth & back and in doing so Leander tackled the Devon banks for the 1st time in her preservation career.
Here we see her head for home past Warrington Bank Quay as she heads home to Carnforth 10A on the 5Z45 from her 2 week residency at Bishops Lydeard on The West Somerset Railway via the Welsh Marches & the WCML.
