Thank you for showing this. I have a box of blades and guides but didn't realise they were for that 'funny looking' spoke shave in my tool box! Now, thanks to you, I know how to use it. Can't wait to give it a try!

It really depends on the wood you select. With straight-grained, easy-to-work species like walnut, cherry, or mahogany, it is pretty close to perfect. Woods such as oak or pine, or any wood with wild grain can tearout.
I'd like to. It's nickel-plated and I'm not sure how to clean it up without stripping off the nickel. I've tried some 4/0 steel wool, but it didn't do much.
