Mark, thanks for another great video. Another use for the cook and brew set is melting snow when winter camping. Then you can use the french press to push all the pine needles to the bottom and pour off clean water.

Very timely. I just picked one of these up at my local Menard's store here in the US for $14.99 on clearance. It's a nice set that I look forward to using. I like the fact that it is not as tall and "tippy" as my other Stanley cook set.

My husband gifted me 2 of the cook sets for Hanukkah this past year. I am an avid Outdoors Enthusiast and love them for taking with me BASS Fishing, Boating, Kayaking, Camping, Hiking, and Day Trip Outings. The EVERNEW alcohol burner is also a perfect choice for your heat/cooking source (no pot stand is needed with it's double flame rings). I love that the cook set and stove fit nicely in a larger Fanny Pack (Bum Bag) or inside a larger jacket pocket. I also own the SOLO Gasification stove and their alcohol burner for it. Both work great too. Now, about the Boil N Brew (French Press)... I have one and love it. Actually I had one beforehand and my USMC RECON Son took it with him on his deployments so I bought another one for myself, yes, it's that good 👍. As you can tell I'm a huge Fan of STANLEY and collect virtually every cook set they offer. Been a Collector for decades. Still have them all and all are still in prime working order, they just flat last the test of time.

I like the squatty style. I like that you can easily fit a small gas canister inside. I've seen videos of people fitting a canister in the original compact cook set, but I couldn't get one in mine. The measurement indentations protrude too deep in mine and stop the canister from sliding down. This one you have now would be perfect. Thanks for the demo.

The bandana inside is a neat idea! Kind of reminds me of the great Soto Navigator cookset and how they use a pot cozy in between pots to prevent scratches, and a microfiber towels with pockets for any loose items to sit inside the inner pot.

Nice Mark. I like to see videos of things like good ole Stanley stuff. I think so many of us get caught up in all the name brand stuff, but you often show us an easier way. And Stanley isn’t that bad, just so long as you’re not going super ultra light. Oh, and when you do the alcohol stove, I’m sure you’ll do the 1 ounce of fuel boiling a cup, but could you please then do a run time from full as well? I’ve had issues with some stoves just not running long enough. Also I got the food saver 2400 on liquidation for half price, and the Salton vitapro of Kijiji for $45. Glad you mentioned your second hand deal, cuz I checked right after and found this right away. Beef is going on tonight, and I made tallow a while ago (water proofed my boots a couple weeks ago with it) so I’ll be ready to make pemmican soon! Thanks for the videos!
@MarkYoungBushcraft
@MarkYoungBushcraft 2 года назад
Hi Jim. Tallow on your boots. Guess you could always eat them if you needed to😂. Glad you found some deals to start you on the dehydrating road. I have yet to do a full Trangia burn but will at some point.
@jimf1964
@jimf1964 2 года назад
@@MarkYoungBushcraft I only mentioned the full burn thing (I have a trangia so I already know) because you had mentioned you’ll do a review on the alcohol stove in this video. As for the tallow, my Snow Seal was kinda dry, so I added some tallow to it. It was historically used for everything from rust proofing to food……although, my boots would make a good keto woods cook video now. 😂😂

I have a set like this, as well as the older large size (32oz) 2 cup nesting combo. It is a sweet option for 2 people as both mugs are huge, although mine is green. The cookset is great. I do work with more than 24oz in it. If you watch, you can get a Qt. in it. I found a great lid from a S/S kids toy cooking set from Ikea that fits perfectly...if I can find a way I will PM you a picture of both. Hang on to both of those kits, as they are not really available anymore. P.S. I have MANY more great Stanley products from their Adventure series. They are bomb proof.

@andymytys
@andymytys 2 года назад
Titanium is not great if you’re going to be actually cooking in it, say making rice, as opposed to just boiling water. SS is easier to avoid scorching/burning while cooking, and once off the heat the contents stay hot a lot longer than when in a ti pot. A couple ounces more, but in my book it’s SS for the win.

Thank you for sharing your observations for this cook set. I have the popular Stanley Adventure Cook Set and think it might be too narrow for many camp stoves. Often the flame travels up the side of the pot rather than fully covering the bottom of the pot. I think the Stanley Compact Cook Set may be more efficient since the bottom of the pot is more exposed to the flame. I will be interested in seeing your tests and opinion for this cook set in your future videos. Take care.

Roberts Bushcraft has a sweet modification on this cook set to nest with the Stanley Brew and Press, for which he also had a perfect fitting SS lid that unfortunately is discontinued. For shids and giggles, the price of that ss lid is at $6.30 usd currently. Curious to see if it goes up after this review.

I have this set and it's very good. Better stability than the more upright Stanley Adventure. The "cup" part is quite large for a quick coffee, though. For longer trips the Coleman C300 gas canister fits exactly (excluding the spork, which I've never used).

With these pots that come with plastic tops, it would be nice to comment on if there’s a right fit from common-sized pots the community may already own, like a Toaks 750, Pathfinder Bush Pot, SnowPeak 900, etc. - in addition to recommending new purchases. With the size of your collection, I’m thinking something you have already fits. I like my Stainless Steel pots - they weigh a couple of oz more than their titanium counterparts, but it’s much less likely to burn food if you take your eye off of it, assuming you’re not just boiling water. That said, to save weight, the first thing I always do is replace the SS lid with one from the ti collection I already own.
@MarkYoungBushcraft

Mostly I prefer stainless steel, titanium and aluminum, in that order. I don't like subjecting plastic to high heat either. I am okay with boiling water but keep it away from flames. No issues as long as I am careful. Thanks for commenting

It’s the Goshawk wood burning stove. If you’re interested in using it as a wood burner, make sure to check out their redesigned pro version, which Mark doesn’t yet have (or at least hasn’t posted a video on). The pro version might be a little taller than the stove Mark showed, and thus may or may not fit in this pot.
