Putting together a Frankenplane. The old plane was missing it's aluminum fence, depth stop and lever cap and needed an aluminum weld repair... the end result is a Frankenplane that hardcore planecollectors frown upon... but she really looks good! This is what Second Chance Antique Tools is all about, taking the neglected and broken and giving them a second chance.

Just found a full A78 at a pawn shop. All original parts for 60 bucks. Even has the sticker on the handle!

I like your videos. Not sure if you have a #46 combination plane, but I thought I’d mention that I haven’t found any videos on RU-vid or the web about this plane. If you did a breakdown on how they work, how to sharpen them, and how to use them right I think youd have the market cornered. Thanks

This is one of Stanley Tools oddest configurations. I've read nothing in the literature to suggest what kind of user was in mind for these tools. A bronze model might have made some sense but even a bronze body would do better with cast steel fence and depth stop.
