Review and demonstration of the Stanley TRE550 Staple/Brad gun. This is a replacement for my old manual Stanley stapler that has developped problems after many years. The powered staple gun is way quicker ans easier to use. I am very impressed with it.

Thank you very much Mr. Russell, I wanted to make my own wooden and iron chairs covered with synthetic leather but the idea of nailing the staples by hand had me discouraged, and I had already made the table!... I took up the idea again and saw that they sell this tool here and I got my spirits back thanks to his very detailed explanations. Greetings from Paraguay.

G'day Russell, Your video is top sort and filled in the gaps that the Stanley instructions failed to cover. Betweenfig. 3 and 4 they neglected to show the dropping in of the staples into the trench that reveals itself after the retaining clip is pulled out. I've never used one of these type of staplers before and my experience is to slide in the clip of staples ahead of the ram rod. I had only just bought one today and you are a life saver ! Especially where you explain what power settings were useful and the absolute need to plant the gun firmly against the wood at the proper angle. Even so, I made a few poor staplings, but, no worries, I had your admonition in mind. Good show !

Thanks for the Demo Russell. I've had one of these that was in a box filled with items mostly returns that I got at auction for $6.28 and thought I'd try it out and it had staples in it and I wanted to see it shoot the brads so I got on youtube and there you were. I was surprised at how well it works. I have every type of nail gun you could imagine from 23 gauge pin nailers to a monster 9ga. 2" fencing stapler and every size flooring gun and framing guns to several metal connector, roofing, fencing, and finishing guns of every gauge size. And this one just amazes me because I don't have to hook it up to one of the compressors. This is something I would only use to reupholster cushions, repair picture frames and small stuff. I see you have quite the nail gun and tool collection also. Cheers Russell.

Thank you Russell. I bought one of these about two months ago and just opened it today. I am renovating a rocking chair (new upholstery etc) and my manual stapler was killing me. Too many staples to do and my hands are not as strong as they used to be. So thank you, it doesn't look as intimidating as I though it would be. Great video! Greetings from Canada. Oh yes, the manual is useless. The print is tiny and faint.

@olgachanachowicz2861

@@alisonfong6496 Hello Alison, I ended up using a hand held (not electric) staple gun (Stanley) for my chair, because I wasn't able to balance the electric one on narrow edges of the rocking chair. It is a very old rocking chair and the frame of the seat and back are narrow. There was no place, not enough space to balance the entire length of the electric stapler. The staples were not coming out straight, they were coming out at an angle and crooked or not at all. I was able to balance my old staple gun (not electric) better. I took it apart, oiled it and it was easier to use than it had been for a long time. Otherwise, I don't regret buying the electric one. It works well on other projects than the old rocking chair. Good luck! By the way, my rocking chair looks fantastic! I worked very hard, watched dozens of videos and my hard work and determination paid off! My son will be very happy. The chair was given to him in a terrible state: broken, neglected for years. It is about, at least, 100 years old. I am quite proud of myself, if I may say so myself. So, good luck to you Alison. Greetings from Canada.

I bought mine at Home Depot 2 years ago to recreate our new music studio from studs and ceiling joists. This product worked like a charm with 9/26mm staples. The stapling took but one day. I had not touched it since. Spent one afternoon to attach fabric to a friend’s Newly created rehearsal studio and the once used almost new unit was dead. I understand that this model has been the Bain of Stanley’s tools. So, I am not recommending this model TR550Z.

I have a piece of trim (corner mold) above my son's closet that has come loose. I was looking at air nailers for using brads in and then I got a Stanley electric stapler like yours from my father in law. I appreciate your review because it had no manual and I needed to figure out to use the brads. This will have considerably as I have 9' ceilings and won't have to drag around an air hose and run the compressor inside.

Thank you Russel for the EXCELLENT review. You took time and effort to describe drive-force settings by holding firm and pressing down, comparing soft and hard woods and of course use of staples and brads, referring to their sizes and specifications. This comprehensive review doesn't need any improvement. I score you 11/10. Best wishes. - a DIY enthusiast in the UK.

I think everyone should have a go at DIY, you never know when you might need to use some of the skills you pick up along the way Julie. First of all though, you should be very proud of yourself! Helping people and taking care of them in their time of need is a wonderful thing to do! Thank you! I am helping my daughter set up a reading corner for her first classroom (degree teacher) and I am so proud of her too! I bought her a tool kit for Christmas a few years ago and she used it last week for a small assembly job in her new flat! I have always told her that it is important to be able to do things for herself. Mind you, I love it when I hear Daaaaad? LOL

Nice up load When I got mine I turned the + and the - but found it just keeps turning so not sure what max and min is ??? Its also not clear which way is plus and which way is minus as the arrows are the same for both ??? Or is it just me being thick ????????

The dial turns either way. There is an arrow moulded on to the gun next to the dial. If the + mark is on the arrow, the gun is set to maximum, if the - sign is on the arrow it is minimum. If you turn the dial in either direction, the power will be reduced or increased. The arrow is the datum point and where it is pointing to on the line between the + and - signs is the power setting. I hope I have explained it adequately Allan, it is a little difficult to explain without actually showing you! :-)
