(Supercuts Delight - Reupload) Original view count: 2.1 Million A fun parody Game of Thrones video highlighting Stannis The Mannis. Stannis The Mannis being my boy Stannis Baratheon.
The reason he was killed before Winter came was because he'd take on the Night King and the 30 best Wights, and single handedly make sure there's 30 fewer wights
I fucking hate that line, and no wonder it came from Benioff himself, the bloody hack. For one, Achilles himself was a king, and very much fighting. As was Agamennon, both in and out of the movie. Who the fuck was that line for? Most kings of that time fought their own fucking battles
@@jorgedeanoperez2997 agamemnon in the movie wasnt fighting. its served as a kind of modern take on the dualism between the warriors and the political leaders. you can dislike it but it made some dramaturgical sense in the context of the movie.
@@bossk3697 But Emilia Clarke said season 8 was the "best season ever!" without the slightest hint of British sarcasm in her voice! Then she forgot about the Iron Fleet again.
I love how Stan is doesn’t wear fancy armor. He wears the same armor seen on some of his soldiers. No fancy kings guard. Just raw, rugged, practical armor
@@fedetrex Stannis is almost certainly a doomed character, but if Stannis has a chance to take the throne, it would only be because Martin would take pleasure in a catastrophic civil war that has the same outcome as if they had followed the law (at least taking for granted that Joffrey was illegitimate). I could also envision him taking King's Landing, albeit briefly, only to be burned by Daenerys' dragon.
In the books Stannis assigned his more loyal knights to take her away from the North and “If I’m dead, seat my daughter on the Iron Throne.” There is a chance that she might burn but NOT by Stannis orders.
In fairness, he told his wife not to strike her. He didn't say anything about, random example, burning her alive. "You don't belong halfway across the world with the bloody stone men! You belong here...just in case we need another sacrifice." Still, I bet Stannis would never kind of forget about the Iron Fleet.
the real stannis died at the wall, the one we see burn shireen is just a mockery. It was NEVER on the cards for stannis, thank you showrunners for ruining another character for another "wow i didnt expect that" moment
"First we ate the horses we are not riding anywhere, not with the castle surrounded. Then we ate the cats, never liked cats so... I like dogs. Good animals loyal, but we ate them."
I would love to see what would happen if the great and powerful Stannis Baratheon, First of his name King of the Andals and the First men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the realm would team up with Mike Ehrmantraut from Breaking Bad.
I kinda wish Jon took Stannis's offer. Imagine Stannis with his army and Jon with the wildlings retaking Winterfell and becoming Warden of the North like his father* before him and Stannis becomes King of Westeros.
There is a very entertaining theory that Stannis is faking his death after winning the Battler of the Ice and defeating the Frey host, and working with the Great Northern Conspiracy (The North Remembers) to betray the Boltons and Freys and siege Winterfell. I think this actually works and is what is going to happen, but what comes after no one knows. Stannis probably doesnt end up wit the Iron Throne, I think that's actually Aegon (Blackfyre?) and what drives Dany mad. warsandpoliticsoficeandfire.wordpress.com/2013/11/15/a-complete-analysis-of-the-upcoming-siege-of-winterfell-part-1/
Tbf right now he has little reason to die, he should be able to win the battle without too much trouble, its more troublesome to sit in the Northern winter than it should be beating the weakened Boltons @@hernanperez6550
Stannis selecting Davos as his Hand goes deeper than just the act itself: Stannis wants to always do the right thing, but he knows that he can be completely ruthless at times. He trusts Davos to keep him on the right path, since he trusts Davos' good heart.
@@russman3787 Nope. The Targaryens forfeited their claim when Robert took the Iron Throne by Conquest (Which made it kinda funny when Dany legitimazed Gendry, as that meant he had a better claim than she and Jon did).
@@nickdentoom1173 By that logic literally any of the combatants during the war of 5 kings could have the most legitimate claim depending on who wins, making the bloodline irrelevant.
@@russman3787Yes that is Exactly how that works. Stanis was the actual rightful King by Blood. Everyone else was a Userper until they actually win the Throne through Conquest. But Book Stanis still ain’t hear no bell, so the Mannis remains the rightful King.
I really hate how they did him in the show he was one of the best characters and they gave him such an unceremonious death he deserved to be king if not Jon and we all know how they did Jon
Well the show runners actively disliked stannis, so yeah. They also thought themes were for school book reports, so shows what they know. Thankfully their careers are in the grave.
He knew he was outnumbered when he marched on the north and he still pulled his sword like a badass and wasn’t phased. The rightful king didn’t hide behind walls like Joffrey.
@@indumatisarin1923 thats not how things work stannis was just following orders of his lord. That is why stannis is appreciated by other lords for holding siege against all odds because he was told to do so by robert. As his conversation with davos on their way to kings landing stannis mentions to davos robert told me hold storms end i did but he gave it away to renly insult or not cause he is my older brother and the king. I have always done my duty and now iron throne is mine by all rights. Something like this😂 idr exact words tho
@@pratikadhikari4260 i get what you are trying to say yes stannis was not the Lord of storm s end but his achievement was still formidable if it was any one else they would have surrendered
His yelling "NO" when the Battle of Blackwater was lost... how often in history was a fight certain to be won until the soldiers collectively despair, rumours of the leaders death, rumour of encirclement, fear and doubts of the former becoming true and death being made assured How often those battles wouldn't have gone the way they did, had the army had the cohesion and situational awareness to see what was happening around them That is why it's called the "Fog of War", and it has made many soon-to-be victorious men into the defeated and vanquished. Just like our King, Stannis the Mannis.
Waterloo. Soldiers saw the guard struggling against an anglo dutch high position, they saw them regrouping, and one fool thought they were retreating and yelled "the guard is fleeing!" and Napoleon wasn't there overseeing it all which is why many other mistakes happened like Ney's charge.
I think that's why Roman armies were so successful for so long they had the perfect system installed down to the last soldier so not one of them would fuck up and if he did he would be dead.
actually its one of the key spoilers GRRM gave D&D about the ending, its one of the outlying events that shapes the series, he's just writing the rest according to the endgame plan. And to that plan, he's going to kill his daughter.
@@fistan5447he cant really do that at the present, he cant explain Stannis leaving his army to go burn down his daughter unlike the series because he cant teleport and Shireen is not anywhere close to him The only way Shireen could die is if the Witch burns her without his permission
@@Freedmoon44 actually he can, you're just thinking battle of the bastards were an actual thing in the books. Stannis could very well take the Winterfell from Boltons. And all ive said would come to be later on.
Stannis was genuinely the best candidate for the iron throne. He doesn't do fancy words. He doesn't display a shining armor, he doesn't act or play. He just pushes forward.
2:10 - Heartfelt scene where his love for his daughter shines through and we see how much he loves her. DnD a couple episodes later --- ROFL Let's have him burn her!!! I hate you DnD . I hate you so much.
"She came to my bed a maid." -Renly "In your bed, she's like to die that way." -Stannis In the book, Stannis fucking seared and incinerated Renly the useless twat.
The fact that Stephane Dillane only did this role for the money and didn't even read the books-- a fact which he admittedly regrets--and yet nailed Stannis perfectly is a testament to his acting ability. I bend my knee to the One True King, Stannis The Goddamn Mannis.
It's sad what dumb & dumber did to his character, one of the best characters in the series that the show just scraped and ruined along with so many others.
The Seven Kingdoms end at The Wall, not Westeros, and unlike the other claimants Stannis very specifically declared himself king of all Westeros (at least in the books).
Because of bad writing. In the books Mance was sentenced for deserting nights watch (which is a crimie punishable by death) not for being king beyond the wall
Stannis was clearly the best choice they had. Yes he was fierce sometimes, but he had to and he knew about the necessity of being feared, about the thin balance between being feared and respected. He loved his daughter, and you know he was a compassionate man in the way he addresses others. However he's a king and he has responsibilities, duties and difficult choices to do, choices that most people knew nothing about and cared not the least. Being the king means everyone watches your every move, and they will blame you no matter what you do. It is a sacrificial position.
@@omardamm5959 If killing your own brother who openly rebelled against your legit claim to be king makes you a shitty ruler, then King Daeron would have been a shitty ruler(when he is up there with Jaeherys I in the best rulers of Westeros)
It's a shame we don't know what the Mannis will do because Got ended at season 4 to wait for the books to finish. Man I can't wait to see what the Mannis has planned for Westeros when he takes his rightful throne.
Great Comp. Stannis is The Mannis! Now...since everyone loves the truth around here - have a little more from the old Buck Mudd: Burning Shireen is the worst possible plot choice...the showrunners got bored because they didn't know what to do with such a grand IP. That's why everything post red wedding is a steady fall into season 8. Love Stannis though. ;)
@@adrianoss.bougas3720 no clue friend. Let's hope that it is nothing to really talk about, because that seems to be the case in the comment section (I cannot find a reason either).
They've admitted in commentaries that they just didn't like him. A lot of his best traits in the books are removed or given to other characters ( _he's_ the best-read and most intelligent of the Baratheon brothers in the books, not Renly, for instance) and many of his enemies are made more sympathetic to make him look worse. So this was is a completely logical endpoint of their treatment of him.
Can you imagine you as his soldier and literally fighting for your life and you look and see he is fighting just as hard for you. That's what makes him great. Not on horse or chariot or standing back with his personal kingsguard
There'd be a lot of cut fingers in the kingdoms. And I'm pretty sure not everybody would be as cool about it as Ser Davos. Don't get me wrong, Stannis the Mannis is a great character to watch, but a king cannot be autistic Lawful Neutral during peacetime. People generally don't always hold their duty above all else all the time, and a ruler unable to account for that or show leniency would be painting a huge target on his back, despite his good intentions.
"We march to victory or we march to defeat... But we go forward, only forward." The best line in the series and it's all because of Stannis! Even if Ned Stark or Tywin Lannister delivered that line, it wouldn't sound nearly as badass as Stannis
