Saying "one hundred and fifty-four dollars and ninety-nine cents" is 14 syllables. Saying "One hundred and fifty bucks" is seven syllables, half as many. Saying the 99 cents over and over and over was the act of a madman.
In regard to the quality being "cheap" for the price point on the Hyken, do not expect to get anything significantly better in the $300-$400 range if you're on the fence. I've tried the Nouhaus Ergo3d, The Oline ErgoPro & the Gabrylly Ergo chair all within the last month trying to find a better chair to replace my 5 year old Hyken and none of them hold a candle to the feel of the Hyken for me personally (I'm a 5'11'' 185 Pound guy for reference.) The Hyken has a much more solid feel and fit than a majority of these supposed next tier chairs with equally "cheap" materials. In my opinion, they are just inflated in price because they have roller blade wheels (which aren't as convenient as you'd hope they'd be for hardwood floors... takes a lot of effort to move the things) as well as an aesthetically pleasing mesh lumbar insert piece (unfortunately the material has far too much give and offers virtually no low back support compared to the Hyken.) I'll just be re-ordering a new Hyken to replace my current one after all the hassle of trying to find a "next level" chair. Lesson learned that newer and more expensive isn't always better... sometimes you're just paying for superficial things and a brand name that hold no weight (Nouahus *cough.) ~$200 for a chair that has lasted me over 5 years is not a bad deal to me at all (to be honest it still functions just perfect, it's just aesthetically beaten up a bit from normal wear and tear and has lost a panel on the base... so I don't even really NEED to replace it yet. I just want to.)
I appreciate your comment so much right now. I was personally just about to purchase the Oline ErgoPro, but had question about the Hyken. I work as a Software Engineer spending hours working from home since the pandemic and my current chair from home just isn't cutting it. I went in and felt the Hyken, but read great reviews on the Oline. But after I read this I will just go in and by the Hyken from the local Staples. Thanks!
@@anthonywright5275 Honestly man, after I read the reviews on the Oline I was totally expecting it to be amazing. I feel like they might have been artificially inflated somehow though after my experience and going back and reading some of the bottom tier ratings. They essentially ripped off the design of the Nouhaus Ergo3d, used cheaper materials and charged $60 less. The "4d" arm rests are cheap, and are constantly moving up, back, side to side and out when you don't want them to... also the lumber insert is immobile, so if that specific curve setup doesn't work for you then you're screwed. I had shooting nerve pains down my back and leg after not even 2 days of using that thing. That's one thing I really like about the Hyken is the adjustable lumbar support piece. I've got a pretty bad back from all my years of weightlifting and football, so yeah support in that area is huge for me working all day in my office as well. Glad I could help and I hope you enjoy it man!
How close does Hyken's lumbar support come to Aeron's PostureFit? I couldn't find any chair so far that holds my back straight as well as PostureFit but without breaking my wallet.
i watch most of this channels videos at 1.5x to 2x speed. thanks for all these reviews! It helped me choose my standing desk--iKea Idasen. now looking for chair!
I am on my second Hyken chair. The chair is very comfortable for me. My problem with this chair is the arm rest starts to tear at the seam and it seems like over time the seat didn't feel as firm as when it was new. The first Hyken chair I was able to return it to the store and received one at no cost. The second one I got has lasted 4 years and the arm rest again started to tear at the seems and the seat doesn't seem as firm. I purchased the warranty for $20 and feel I got plenty of use from the chair. I hope to buy another Hyken because I found other chairs not comfortable for me. The warranty came in handy.
@Dipender Singh yeah going from classic bucket seat gaming chair to this, it does take getting used to. honestly would be a nice chair, if it fit me lol. Im gonna return it, its much to small. Im 6'1 200lbs.
@@fear4forrest255 im 6 feet and I also had a bit of issue with the headrest. I ended up getting my buddy to 3d print a extension to raise the height of the head rest and it's good. Obviously I miss sitting on my chair with my legs crosses, or a bigger seat, but I realized it's good in the sense it keeps me sitting in a optimal position and I got used to it. You should definitely check out the staples dexley. It's the exact same almost to the hyken but bigger. It was sold out when I got the hyken but would have gotten that instead. Ideally a Herman Miller would he cool but no way I'm bout to spend 1000+ on a chair as a student.
@@DipMaster20 oh thats awesome man!! its to bad idk anyone with a 3d printer as well. the dexley is what i was looking at too but its sold out here and any town within a reasonable driving distance from here.
Some industries see more or less. 8 is an average. Considering ocean freight is 3x you can assume bulky items like furniture will have large price increases from that alone -GK

I just picked up the Workpro 4000 series office chair from Office Depot/Max for $279. It has lots of adjustments, which is very nice, including my favorite synchro tilt. It is so nice to be able to recline back a little bit, while my feet stay planted. It so far has helped with the lower back problems I usually have with office chairs.
Stuck between getting something like this that I can throw away when it starts breaking down and buy another or paying like 1000 for something that will last for ever lol
I bought mine in 2016 over 6 years ago now. Its the headrest that's the deal breaker now that I have worn it out. The armrests wore out at the 3 year mark and they did send me new arms. Im about 6' tall the seat depth is fine for me, and the back support was fine for its price point and I really like how firm the seat is. But that headrest is basically worthless.
yet the only price i find anywhere is around $180, lel also staples just told me their return/exchange policy on furniture items is 14 days, not 30 >.>
I’m looking for an office chair at home and the Hyken is the chair I was looking into the most because of value. However this review changed my mind about this chair because I’m 6’3”. Thanks for the review! Subscribed.
@@BeeJayyDaDon Hello! Yes I ended up getting a Sidiz T50. My legs don’t feel cramped when sitting down so that’s a huge plus. Only drawback I have is the headrest isn’t quite tall enough. It barely goes past my neck.
hyken absolutely sucks, and im not even a chair snob yet lol. The union and scale ayalon is worth looking at though... it has a eurotech exchange seatpad and backframe and a eurotech vera seat base
I bought a Hyken last July and was getting pretty unhappy with the headrest. It was too high up and it was either forcing my head down or forcing me to strain against that happening. It reached the point where it was hurting my neck so badly that two days ago I pulled the headrest off. Turns out, as your video pointed out, there *IS* a verticle adjustment. It's an inch or two at most and it *REALLY* fights you (which is why I didn't think it was vertically adjustable). But I decided to pull out the headrest tonight and look at it and yeah, if you really Konan it, you can adjust it vertically and mine was at the top of the range. By getting it down as low as possible, it is now working as a headrest instead of a torture device! Everything else you said about the chair is true. It's not the most comfortable mesh but it's passable. In fact, the same comment applies to just about every aspect of this chair; if I had to describe it in one word, passable seems pretty apt. But you really can't beat the price and nothing else at this price point comes even close to touching it.
This review seems bias to me since he keeps saying that its low quality but only cost 150$. For someone with a small buget whos looking to buy an ergonomic chair this is probably the best of its category. If you want high quality material you'll have to spent 5 to 10x + this price c'mon man! It's like reviewing a hyndai accent and complaining that everything is in plastic and its boring to drive. To me this chair is totally worth the price.
Did you watch until the end or hit the comment section after I said it was low quality? I came to the same conclusion as you at the end of the video. It is worth the price and a good option for this price range. But, I am not going to ignore the reasons that make it so cheap, the same way a car reviewer won't ignore the reasons that make a car cheap. -RB
@@btodtv Eh, I like your channel. You guys are super informative. But I disagree with the comparison. It _is_ like a car reviewer reviewing a cheaper car, but specifically -- it's a Ferrari dealership reviewing Civics. I think, even at the end, when you talk about having to deal with "the hassle" of returning a chair once it breaks to a store to get a replacement as part of a warranty, it felt like you guys were really massaging the point in a way that felt a tad disingenuous. I appreciate this channel's reviews but the utter apathy shown towards this chair is honestly strange to me. It's a cheaper chair that does a lot for a low price. It's not a show-pony. It's not meant to be flaunted in a public square like a Jony Ive creation. It's a chair, meant for sitting. I've owned one nearly 4 years. 6 foot 3, 300 pounds. And it's been flawless. It's not just a good chair for the price, it's a good chair, period. No, it does not have a back that "flexes" when you stretch (another detail I hear in these reviews that is puzzling to me) and the mesh isn't as "soft" as higher end chairs, as you've said it "feels like you are sitting on top of it, and that it doesn't 'cradle' you", which is a line that is so strange and inane that it doesn't sound like a human wrote it. The biggest issue I see in this review is just that from the very start, it's almost like you are being held at gunpoint to say anything remotely positive about this chair, and I would imagine that it's probably super difficult to find anything nice to say when it's hundreds of dollars less than the bare minimum that would satiate your incredibly specific requirements of comfort.
Tough to take any of this seriously when you tell me that its a good chair and not just for the price. It does it’s job well and it’s why I said it is worth the price in this video. Is it worth $299? No. Is it a good chair? No. -RB
I'm just gonna shoot my shot, and ask is the Ergochair Pro+ (formerly known as the Kinn, or rebranded Reya) worth it? Recently they raised the price and just wondering how it holds up to an Embody (for the price)
