It's amazing that it takes that much effort to make a simple staple. That's why information like this is so important. We take things for granted when we don't know what it takes to make them. Thank you.

This process started with spools of wire. When you see how the spool of wire came to be, either from recycled metal or raw ore, it's equally amazing. Put the 2 processes together and 🤯. And for something as simple as a staple which we take for granted.

So much thinning. And the staple bender is so fast. After all those fancy machines I was sort of surprised to see the end product gets dumped in a crate and has to be hand sorted.

I can't wrap my head around the possibility that the world could need that many staples, from one manufacturer no less. Incredible.
@AffordBindEquipment

what would also be amazing is to know how many actually get used. stapler jams and the whole row gets thrown out, or the box breaks open and the box is thrown away, or the row falls on the floor because of clumsy operator or they move the office and buy all new supplies. You know all of these happen all the time.

I think the same thing every time I work at a different factory. I worked at Whirlpool and I was always amazed that we made so many washers and dryers every night.. I would always think that there is no way there is this many people buying brand new washers and dryers every single day in America. 🤯

I believe it was a company originally called Boston Wire Stitcher Company that started making the staples in this manner almost one hundred years ago. They set the standard in standard size staples. They shortened their name to Bostitch and are still around today as Stanley Bostitch.

Wow, so many steps. Weird that staples are so cheap. And I had no idea that there is glue involved. I assumed that that is actually a thin metal band, and cut almost through to make the individual staples. Almost cut like the cut on soda, or tin cans with a key opener.

The characteristics of this company's products are that many products use materials that are one level higher or higher than others. Even products that are over 30 years old still work like new. The material of Allsten scissors is really good.. This company seems to be the only company that makes scissors with the material used for high-end bush knives..

I wonder why they dont use thinner wire for making staples instead they use thicker then they process it by sanding to make it thinner?

My guess is that’s how they get it from the mill, just how it’s originally made & probably better for transportation 🤷🏻‍♂️
