Crusader doesn’t have windows because it’s just a Door company masquerading as a ship manufacturer. If they had windows, their ships wouldn’t highlight their doors as well
I think it could use some slight balance tweaks, but visually this is one of the coolest ships in SC. We need more Crusader ships. They have such a stellar "space plane" design, very NASA-Punk in a way Starfield missed the boat on.
Ahh yes. SC’s off brand SVD Normandy 😂. Also strap 4 deadbolts to it and divert all power to shields and you’ll be able to do vhrts Also the view out the cockpit is actually fantastic
The ship is crusader who are known for their agility so once they start restoring charscteristics for more ships aftet the M.M baseline it may very well be ad agile as a fighter
Love the C1 and wouldn't mind a starter ship that resembled it, but what I'd absolutley LOVE to see would be a starter that resembled the Orison shuttle!
I upgraded my starter to a Nomad and then shortly thereafter to the C1. I enjoyed it, but between only one exit and the overall width, I found it to be annoying so I swapped it for my Corsair. Of course, now that they've bumped up the hangar assignment (or so I've heard) for it, the width might not be such a problem. It's a joy to fly (especially compared to the Corsair) and is one of the most aesthetically pleasing ship designs. If they would add a ladder to the cockpit area (same with the MSR and C2 series) and widen the frame of the blast door so you could fit an Ursa inside, it would be perfect.
love the design, love the airplaneish look. For cargo im still using the freelancer max, which you are limited to about 100 scu due to the small doored/airlock area. If the C1 could hold a hundred scu it would be my daily driver.
Congrats again on breaking 5k and good luck on the road to 10k! I went with the E1 myself, but I built it on a CCU chain and stopped at the C1. It's a fun ship to fly around and with the Olympia paint, it is just a stunning ship. I love using it for DC Delivery missions and throwing my Mule in back for the cargo boxes.
I upgraded my Syulen starter for this and it’s been my daily driver. No regrets. Love the versitility. Although the Zeus is looking tempting to upgrade to when it’s released.
i avtually bought it for a ccu chain, but i fell in love with it. the design and feel of the ship is so great. and even tho it does a lot well but nothing perfect, it is one of my favorite ships in the verse. and it did got a bit of a weapon boost with the new system so it's even better now
To me Crusader builds the most beautiful ships in the game, but I can't decide which one is the prettiest of their range, the C1 or the Ares. I know you can't compare the two when considering their different rolls, but when judging by their looks only, it is very difficult to choose between them. I also don't like the idea of soloing multi crew ships, because you lose a lot of functionality when doing so, but with the C1 there is none of that. And the fact that it has only one entrance does not detract from it at all. If I ever was to start playing the game, the C1 Spirit would probably be the first ship I'd buy with in-game credits.
this is my daily driver. it's just the right size for me as a solo player, can take it to missions, go ROC mining, do some low level bounties... love my C1
My favorite all-around ship. Lovely, functional and comfortable. Also designed with future implementation aspects such as decompression physics and engineering. Nice price Give us a game package FIX the gun Rack Front egress (I thought if the whole cockpit lowered to ground that might be an elegant solution) Nearly a perfect ship that can be relevant well beyond alpha.
I've had this ship a few times now and I've just melted them before flying them but now that I've been flying one pretty consistently I love it. Pretty zippy and pretty responsive. I'm new to commodity trading this ship is pretty nice for that and it can fit a ROC for some gem mining. I've always preferred the bunkers or bounty missions but I've started to branch out to other game loops when i feel like i need to grind some cash but want a less tense and relaxing way of doing so although I'm not very relaxed if I'm heading to Brio's.
I like my C1 a loooot ! That's the ship I bought for the look primarily and have enjoyed flying as a daily ever since. My only "complaints" would be only cosmetic, it could use a bit more MFD in the cockpit, mimicking its big brother the Hercules, which I find more functionnal and looks overall better. The C1, with its two MFD, has some kind of missing piece in the middle of the cockpit. Or maybe add some screens in the top of the cockpit. Despite that, maybe a better "kitchen/fridge" and other crew amenities, for example by bunking both bed together, one of top of the other, which would free some space. Storage could then be moved in the floor. Downward visiblity is poor but I can live with it, but it could use to have landing flood lights, like most ships, for sure. Despite liking it a lot, I look forward to the E1 variant, with passenger transport. I cross my fingers it will provide the same cool experience as the Constellation Phoenix.
It's a good looking ship specially with either the Crimson or Olympia paint. But now my C1 Spirit has turned into a Sabre Firebird as I got a Mercury Star Runner and C2 for cargo. Maybe I'll pick it up back later just for the aesthetics. Really like it. Crusader rocks!
My top pick for solo daily driver. The Zeus CL might beat it out when it comes, but if this ship makes a comback with further increases to handling and speed to match the overperformance of its older siblings in their reapective weight classes each, i will happilly maintain this even over the technically better spec'ed Zeus CL for its style and handling... but if the Zeus is able to compete with it in either speed or maneverability, it will likely win my heart.
Love the c1. I really want a micro msr. Like a hurricane but with the top bottom turret set up. 3 man speedy heavy fighter. Just firepower coming from all over. A starter would be cool though.
I think thsi ship is sexy as hell! I did always like the freelancer, and the Hull A has a very nice interior (I really like what CIG did withthat one), while the cutty has those beautiful rugger looks, and some practicality like the side doors to load stuff, more firepower with the turret, but about 18 less SCU. Freelancer has about @ SCU more and the size 2 turrents (Which should be remote sinc you cannot enter/exit if you have the ship full of cargo, CIG needs to make that a remote). and Both ships can take more people (CUtter up to 3 crew and 6 passengers, possibly 7 if you sit somebody in the bed, and a crap load if you just stuff people there, which I won't count). Freelancer has room for 4, maybe two more sitting in beds, and Hull A you can have a buddy sit in the bed if you really have to. You coudl do same with C1 I supose (take two passengers having them sit in bed? Tractor bean is usefull. If you forget tractor bean (multi-tool) then you can at least load space cargo that you would otherwise loose out on ifyou do a bounty and ship you kill ha cargo. If you have two people, one can use Remote tractor to bring things towards the gate, and pilot can place inside more precisely. My ship seems bugged right now, I can't get more than 999 QT fuel for some reason. I'm trying the claim thign to see if that fixes it. we'll see
A good thing to metion is that it comes stock with a grade B military quantum drive, the Yaeger which is the second fastest size 2 quantum drive in the game. That makes upgrading that part more of a luxury than a beccessity. And you only would upgrade to a XL-1 for bragging rights really.
Really keen to see what they do for Crusader's starter. I'm sure it'll be look great with their aesthetic. Still haven't flown it yet but really want, so saving up the in-game pennies for it to be my next ship purchase
I had this once (random ships appear in my asop from time to time then vanish just as inexplicably) and I really enjoyed it. BUT! One thing I noticed is that I think air traffic control assigns hanger sizes based on the height of the ship only and doesn’t take into account any of a ships other dimensions because I was always assigned small hangars which, while possible to land there, they were always very tight squeezes.
o7 Pledge this Ship along with the black /blue skin ! love it so much , that i bought the Corsair , two weeks ago and never touched, only fly this ship ! Funny fact , the Ship says only 62 SCU of cargo but you can fit around 92 SCUs and still have room to pass along the containers ! And you forgot i' the middle of the Ship one side its components but the other side its storage , you can actually put inside 8 small boxes in total of the two storage compartments 😎 The only thing that i dislike is the gun rack dont work as it is supposed to 😮! But still i can't leave her in the hangar any more 😂 o7
A solid review. The C1 is a ship I want to love (much like the Freelancer) but I'm reaching the point where I'm beginning to think it's simply not for me. I have various gripes with the airframe that ultimately leave me wanting. The deliberate lip in the airlock threshold of the cargo bay that limits the ability to drive in relatively small vehicles such as the Cyclone (Freelancer has a similar issue), the single entry and exit point which creates a huge vulnerability, the sizing issue in relation to hangars making it a very awkward bird to land and finding suitable landing spots on planets due to ramp collision. I think that perhaps my expectations were wrong for the C1 and that perhaps there's a major gap in this bracket of ships. Being a pilot that performs a mixture of ground and A2A combat I was ultimately hoping for something that could contend with the Drake Cutlass Black's flexibility and capability. The reality is that there is no ship that contends with it at this point in time and I have doubts that we'll see one in the future either. edit: On reflection perhaps what this bracket needs is something from Anvil.
The size is whats keeping me from jumping on it. I use a nomad and was in the market to upgrade to a "medium" ship but this things looks huge. May just go with the cutty at first til i have some spare AUEC to test this guy out.
I have a loaner one of these and I've been enjoying it. I like it's sound and looks. I also have a Cutlass in game and feel that I like it just a bit better. The multiple entrances has paid off many times. It does make me curious about what an Origin starter ship would be. I hope it's maybe something small and fast like a Pisces rather than compete with a cutter or nomad
The single exit isn’t truly an issue when it comes to fire. Let’s say that your ship has a fire and you can put it out. No problem then. If your ship has a fire you can’t put out the. You simply need to get out because it’s going to be a loss anyway right? That is where the bed/escape pods come into play. So really you have that second exit you need in an emergency
Isnt even rocking the concept crimson paint? RIP Bozo 😉 great commentary as always, also, if you need to borrow a ship in my hanger for content, feel free to reach out!
I managed to cram about 90 SCU of cargo on and off the grid, had plenty space left and the little airlock before the ramp was still free. Theoretically you could put even more stuff in it, it just gets dangerously janky at some point. The grid is 8 single boxes long but has space for 9, you could put 18 boxes in a row along the middle pathway, later using copilot tractor beam to put in 18 more. So, 108 max inside the main cargo bay but zero exits remain after that.
If you want to see what a Crusader starter ship will look like, look no further than the shuttles on Orison. It will literally have that look. Possibly smaller. Gut the seats and replace it with cargo, a small kitchenette, bed, and bathroom. When Orison first came out people loved the design and asked for a ship to be made from it. Devs said duly noted and years later, we're getting close to a Crusader Starter. I guarantee you it'll be a spin-off of that shuttle.
My additions: the component access at the back is a little TOO convenient. It is very easy to mis-click and open a component door when trying to open or close the rear hatch, and it's very wide, which makes it a tight fit in the smallest top-down hangars that you can be assigned. Sometimes easier to land diagonally in those hangars.
I want a light/medium fighter. Maybe somethign to compete firepower wise with the new HOrnet MkII (F7C) or at least Sabre like (original sabre). but I wouldn't mind a light fighter from crusader as well.
Awesome review!!! Great comparisons made between the other ships of the same class/size. Really love the cinematic as always. Shame it only has one entry/exit 😔 Keep doing the things you’re doing! Btw, do I call you Even or Dylan? I saw in your bio on RU-vid you have “Dylan” in brackets after Even Lease.
@@EvenLease44 Will do. Can’t wait for your channel to grown even larger than it is now. I’m here for it. (I think I’ve said this 100 times on end now 😂)
It would have been nice if the tractor beam mount was rather a universal mount instead, allowing us the option to use a turret (hopefully with a blade) or a tractor beam would've been nice.
My only gripe with the C1 Spirit is that the front turret sticks out so much from the nose, i feel that the weapons coul,d have been just attached under the nose in the alcove for the turret. The turret itself doesn't actually behaive like a turret anyway; it behaives like two weapon mounts that are protruding from the ship, honestly i think the weapons should of been 'hidden' inside the front of the wings or where the wings attach to the hull, as there is some empty space there.
My only gripe with my C1 is that the ramp is the only entrance. I would like for there to at least be some minor ladder entry way for those times when you land on uneven ground or something. I dont even care if its in that little room right next to the ramp.
While I can see the appeal of the C1 to many, it never did it for me. The E1 vaguely interests me, but the huge size via those wings feels massively wasteful. Combine that with only a single point of entry/exit and it’s a deal breaker for me. It’s also much more defensive and utilitarian than the Cutlass Black, which for me is the more versatile option. I’d sooner have a Cutty Black and go Freelancer Max for cargo at this level.
there are only two downsides to this ship: It is difficult to land on rough terrain and on small hangars. So it is not really the best ship for ROC mining. Beside that, its a fantastic ship.
I love it, but only 2 MFDs is my minor gripe. Especially now that changing MM modes resets weapon groups and so forth. Whether that is a feature or a bug is still unclear to me.
That is indeed a bug, all mfd pages are supposed to save when set for each ship individually.. guessing they just want to get the new MFD’s in and not work on the current bugs with the old ones.
It isn't just Crusader with poor views... windows are not only dangerous, but when used and made safe, *expensive.* Hence Origin the only one wasting money and sacrificing safety for a "view".
@@asiftalpur3758 cockpits are needed... but only origin puts in actual windows with no purpose except a view.... there's even lore on it, diamond composite. And why only they have the great views usually.
