This ship feels like a beautiful mix of Star Wars, serenity, and alien ship design, beautifully crafted, and very cool

I've had the Corsair in my hangar for years and it's looking like it was well worth the wait. I think it'll be an excellent daily driver and bounty runner with all that pilot controlled firepower. Can't go wrong with 4 x size-4 gimbled and 2 x size-3 gimbled pilot controlled guns up front, not to mention fully crewing the thing. The nice surprise of a size 3 shield putting it on par with the 400i and connie series means it'll hold up in a fight, but gotta be careful about protecting its blind spot underneath the ship I reckon. Overall I'm super happy with it... Corsair owners rejoice! :D

I'm very happy with her, took her out for a flight on the PTU and I'm stunned. Also... ''fits a vehicle in the back'' had me cracking up, I've seen people putting Pisces and Archimedes snubs in there and being able to close the ramp!

The Corsair looks great, but this is, by far, the best review I've seen yet.

I didn't plan on getting one of these till I toured one in the ptu. It's an awesome ship.

it looks like a beefier version of a b-wing ship in Star Wars. And yes I think I'm going to upgrade my cutless to the corsair because dam that thing looks awsome.

Oh just so people know: Left ALT+K to fold and unfold wings. Also: F4+Keypad * to set whatever camera view you’re currently in, to default.

I have just been checking out the Corsair in PTU myself, and amusingly did exactly the same path of QT’ing to a mining outpost on the light side of Microtech, then laughing as another player tried to land their ship without retracting the wings. My thoughts on the ship are that I am very happy I picked up the 400i last year. It is a much superior ship in terms of design and as a daily flier, it handles far better, it’s far quicker, has better shields. I would prefer to use other ships for combat overall, but will look forwards to earning one in-game after each wipe, much like the Cutty Black and Connie Andromeda. I’m quite relieved as I didn’t feel any tug to buy this, which is quite a relief.. thank you CIG for not tempting me sufficiently this IAE! It’s a good ship without being outstanding. What the Corsair does have going for it is strong Star Wars vibes within the Drake ‘armed to the teeth’ ethos. I like it a lot, but it will be very affordable in-game so isn’t worth an upgrade for me.

Finally. Ive been waiting for the Corsair. It reminds me of the Twilight from Clone Wars

for the roof access i think it could be really useful when you land in the future in a new system on some planets with wild creatures to check the environment from the roof view. Im not sure but could be really useful for that !

The Corsair is the only ship I saw and immediately fell in love with in Star Citizen. For me as a Star Wars fan i totally love the asymmetric design like the BT-7 Thunderclap. I also like Drake because their ships makes me feel like a Belter from The Expanse. Its cold and dirty and untidy :D Love it !

The wing out and spazzing in the floor, the well thought out plan and just imagining the "shooting stars" meme doctor strange style of falling to the planet. Great stuff xD

The greebling detail on the interior is just magnificent. And the Corsair has one advantage over the Cutter: It's got the landing gear lever the right way up!

You can turn on the lights in the back hanger area FYI. it also has a exterior lighting switch for the back as well.

I have to get one of these. I absolutely love everything about it. Definitely has a mix of Star Wars and Firefly vibes.

CIG missed opportunity with the wings!!! From both the outside and from inside the cargo bay, you can see the wing roots clearly attach to the hull with massive, beefy bearing rings. As if they swivel!!! It would have given the Corsair an awesome party trick of incredible pitch rates, naturally at the expense of pilot weapon and missile use during that regime (because these are attached to the wings). Same concept on Freelancers. They even show the 'Lancer wings rotating main engines for special agility during the Freelancer promo cinematic.

I've watched like 3 different videos of tours of this ship. You're the only one that turned the lights on before touring it. Small things matter!

Drake ships look and feel how I would expect civilian space craft to look and feel. Not a big fan of the asymmetry, but the interior looks amazing. Gonna be difficult not to get this one during iae

this ship is a solid 9.8/10 it wouldve been an 11/10 but its missing something that me and crew absolutely loved about the previously new Redeemer, which is an automatically stocking food cabinet. so much banter was done, and time spent in the Redeemer kitchen eating and throwing food at eachother. was really hoping they would've included that on the Corsair.

This ship’s design reminds me of one of the projects presented when they did the “ship design contest” few years ago. One of the contestant came up with an asymmetrical ship that looked quite a lot like the Corsair from what I can remember. Maybe they used the original proposal as an inspiration for designing this new addition. It still looks cool anyway, and like some others mentioned, it bring kind of a Star Wars vibe into Star Citizen. Good stuff!!

You might be surprised that all the pipes and ducts and such are there on other makes of ships, but they are hidden behind bulkheads or under the decks, etc. It's part of the engineering gameplay they intend to implement. When an enemy shoots a hole into your ship, if the shot hits a pipe or cable, it will damage the system it's connected to, and you will have to patch around it and/or get it repaired to get things running again.

i believe that in a universe, planet or future where ships like these exist and can fly around freely that buildings would have Tron like outlines to be seen at night more easily

i bought the corsair about 2 years ago while comparing ship's firepower to eachother. I thought i found a secret winner but of course now that it's coming out everyone is getting one. its just the way ship releases work in this game. they have to create hype to keep the cashflow moving.

Captain gets a little dash fan, co-pilot gets a massive fan above their head. Any ship introduced since the MSR have lights for the rooms. All the details of the corsair are just amazing. The sound FX of everything is top level. Floor MFD is a repeater of the left one on the dash. Seems they were still diagnosing things in production and decided to just sell the ships unfinished. It is DRAKE

The "roof button" is absolutely for this purpose. To sky surf a spaceship teen-wolf style.

You can turn lights on and off in a lot of the recent ships. Also the service elevator is there likely for easy access to do manual ship repairs when that goes online I believe along with salvage in 3.18.

M6A is size 4. The number is 2 higher than the strength. (The M5As are size 3)....although that's on gimbals. You can upgrade another point of strength by going with fixed mounts.

Well you dont need to visit the bridge to turn the lights on. It has light switches. Storage under the bed as well, and roof access will allow repair easily when salvage and repair comes online. It's a cool ship.

This is my favorite ship, and the only one I actually bought, but I kinda hate how they didn't add the little windows in the bedrooms like they had in some concept art

I never pledged for this ship since I already own a pair of Constellations that fill the same roles. Regardless, the Corsair is a nice looking ship in it's own right and the rear cargo area has the right volume and clearances for larger rovers. It has slightly more pilot controlled fire power gun wise compared to the Constellation for the solo pilot to control in the form of an extra pair of size 2 forward wing guns.

Just a note, all Crusaders medium and big ships have individual room lights, like the starrunner and the stralifter

I know people will say it needs a nerf, but the way the corsair flys I think the dps from the pilot is fine. It's great at what I see it's main role being, taking out ground stuff so it can land. It can just melt turrets, and really that is what the corsair should do. It's flight profile, and the limited angle on the turrets gives it a massive aft blind spot where you can rip it's guts out in a fighter. I hope they leave the dps and flight systems on it alone, or up the maneuverability just a bit.

The reason for the elevator to the roof function, IIRC, is so you can get up top to patch it after combat once they introduce the ability to make temporary repairs to get back to a pad/hanger for a permanent fix. Also, the Space Slug (Hull-A) has interior lights you can turn off and on in each room.

All I can think about is parking one of these above a racetrack and setting up a table, some chairs, and having a rooftop viewing party...

Things like this is why a respect the developers so much. They do not need to add ANY of the light swiches, crew cabbens, sliding seats. Soo much work goes into stuff that does nothing to effect gameplay, but increaces the coolness 10 fold!

The roof top elevator and wing animations are Chefs Kiss! With 12 forward facing guns fully crewed don't get caught in pilot sights. And separate crew quarters is Luxury for Drake. Landing gear too low to ground CIG adjust soon? Dash fan for pilot sells me ;-/

A picnic table on the roof with a bunch of your mates floating above or cruising over some of the cities would be an interesting party. Unfortunately you'd all get blown off. But parachutes might work.

It's a gunship not really exploration like they say, no scanners for deep space ,no fuel collection system for collecting Hydrogen fuel for long range, and its bare bones minimum comfort, on a long trip this would suck. It's got a very cold feel to it, Please don't get me wrong I love this ship but its not what they are calling it. I would rather be on a origin 600 traveling for days if not weeks into deep space for exploration,A ship for exploration should have all the amenities of home plus labs scanning stations mining tools and possible large tractor beam,as well as a crew of at least 4 to 6 people, the Corsair requires a large crew just to man the weapons systems, what is that 4 people including the pilot,and that's not the exploration crew, A ship with only one person on board only has that person manning the weapons and flying the ship while everyone else is gone, which means this larger crew that's a lot of people to get together and limits the owner to its use. The Freelancer Dur has some of the same issues, but it has scanners and a fuel collection system,But its pilot and turret only requires 2 so the 4 man crew is two for exploration, we have to wait for the gold standard in it though to see what changes they make and correct the mistakes,wear as the Corsair is close to being as done as it will be. great gun ship for multiple players.great videos ,thank you .

There are light switches in the cargo bay when you walk up the ramp to Turn All the Lights On underneath the beds there are storage there are light switches in the cargo bay there is a light switch for a spotlight on the ramp for at night

happy? im ecstatic Ollie.... in fact i was running a Connie Andromeda for my main ship, and was working my way up to the Valkyrie... but once i saw this ship when it was announce i wanted to get one, after flying it, i'm melting my Connie to get the Corsair

that quad really is a death machine, glad its not just me.

Origin ships aren't easier to model, because part of what makes the clean look possible is that there are basically no 'terminating lines' in view. Every line has to curve elegantly until it's out of sight. With other ships, you mostly just slap a bunch of basic shapes together.

Weps are 4 x s4 and 2x s3 on gimbal, but upgrade them to size 5 and 4 to kill 90% of ships on your first pass.

You can get vehicles right outside the spaceport on NB incase ur unaware.

Bear in mind considering the PU is a buggy 'pre-alpha' build, then you can only imagine what playing in the PTU is like! I stopped playing in it for those reasons

The roof is probably for trading or high risk situations when you need to open the hangar and want to scout or guard as you do it. Or maybe repairs in the future

You can turn lights off and lock rooms, or even change it to force the warning lights in the 400i.

Ok when Star Citizen is in a more playable state I 100% know what my main ship is going to be! This thing is like a mix between a WW2 bomber (it even sounds like one lmao) and a B-Wing, and I love it!!

The M6A is a size 4, the M5A is 3, still a lot of fire-power, haven’t watched long enough to see if there gimballed, if so you could put s5 weapons on them with could make it one of the strongest ships in the game

It would be nice if there was an animation of him grabbing the handles or pushing buttons when opening doors, etc.

Ships ship looks good and has good potential, but fuel tank in atmo lasts for like 400km so no proper expedition, its like a brick in atmo and rolling makes you point down, also it goes down by its own when not constntly steered

I LOVE the Corsair. I've been waiting for a long time for this ship to make it into PU and I'm not one bit disappointed with it.

I'm getting my pc here in the next couple weeks! I can't wait to play this game!!!

I'll admit I wasn't a fan of this ship when it was a concept because of the lack of symmetry but seeing it in-game has changed my mind.

Where else will you place your lawn chair and beer cooler, but the roof (all ships, especially large ones should have access to the roof). I'm not big on multi-crew ships, I'm a "Spacer".

Explore Cargoholds it will! That big tube on the big wing, can't tell me that that thing is not a turret.

Looks great but I was more impressed with the practicality of the Drake Cutter. Plus when the 600i gets its interior rework with a med bay, I think a lot of exploration ships are gonna get out classed.

The outside looks like the trooper ship from star wars the old republic.

It needed a small med bay as a explorer type. It is a great ship but without a med bay it is a bit limited in ability to do long range missions.
