Been watching this game for 12 years. I know there is no statement that can possibly penetrate the copium cloud, but just try to let that sink in. It's been T.W.E.L.V.E. years and we still have AI suffering from severe dementia, elevators imprisoning players, loot and mission objective items phasing into unreachable locations, hard server crashes, client disconnections, as well as over a hundred gameplay interrupting issues happening daily. It is going to take more than a crafting system that might be somewhat present a year from now to "elevate SC from a tech demo into an actual game". I'm not a pessimist, just a realist. There hasn't been a "ground breaking" feature yet that has made the rainbow shine in the 'verse. This ain't going to be it either.
I loved starwars galaxies other than their weird choices for the three different health pools. I loved our little city consortia I had my own cantina and it was fun hanging out with all the kraytt dragon hunters and miners coming in from the field all beat to heck and then they came to our town to heal up/sell resources/buy some of the best armors on the server. We were way out in the middle of nowhere on lok and we wound up being a foot hold so people could expand to that part of the map knowing they had a place to resupply and heal up when otherwise it would be totally impractical. Curious if there is the same issue of dangerous criters building up outside the base area requiring all hands on deck hunting missions to cull the angry dragons.
Yes, the crafting is very similar to SWG, which is great because SWG had great crafting. I was an A-Wing Ace, when JTL came out I left the Planets and never went back I soloed the Star Destroyer several times solo. Anyways, to Make my A-Wing the greatest it could ever be I needed a particular Ion engine that was the reward of the Corvette Mission. I spent months doing that mission to get the good rolled ones lol. Anyways, I ended up with an engine that had the best Yaw of any engine in game. I could not be touched! I miss SWG, if CIG ever gets their shit together I'll be on this game...
I really love what they build up. Being with SC for a long time (one of the first 20k baker). But within, one last thing does not let me go: Time. I wonder how long they will finally need to implement all of these things. It would take all different game companies not more than a year to establish such things. Whenever I see this, I need to add around five years until we see at least a third of it. This is what makes me excited but sad at the same time. -- I sincerely hope that they start to push things forward much faster. What I also no seen yet is the "gold sink". This is a common problem in MMO's when you literally get swallowed by nearly countless Tier 1 items all over that are produced without having a real purpose since everybody will quickly try to get a higher Tier (3+). I wonder if things like weapons can be "decrafted / melted" as well.
Once they release SQ42 they should have more man power to focus purely on SC. Also all most important tools and technologies are complete. Unless they will jump with some single player sequel or prequel hah
I think since base building will be added very soon after 4.0, and 4.0 will be coming within a month or so, we should be looking for 1.0 coming around 2026 (with sq 42). plus they got a decent amount of last citizen con into live this past year. So I hope that it will continue and be much faster than the past development
GRIEEF disposable income I would rather you have a SC ship habbit than a 250 a week cocain habbit tho. however you are paying for media and marketing teams habbit most likleyt the spectrum jannies too. worrying
That crafting stat addition is going to change literally everything. Mining ships with high yield drones and lasers. Increased damage and fire rate with less power draw for weapons like laser repeaters. Research on ships like the Carrack increasing things like hull armor and power generation. This changes everything. And it's going to be awesome.
IMO the Ironclad can easily become a base building/manufacturing ship, with all the portable/mobile equipment introduced at Citcon. Even repairing itself and refueling with ROC mining along with the portable refineries. It will also be ingame way before the Pioneer or Starlancer base builder ship.
The decorator AR Mode is such a missed opportunity to invite friends over to coop and try to PIVOT a couch together through a door or a flight of stairs xD
It feels like they're finally getting to the point of rounding out the core gameplay loops. With this, it really feels like we're getting close to 1.0 (even though I know there's still quite a bit more left to do.)
As many have pointed out, this is the content that will turn SC into a game and not just a grind. This is a LOT of content and I won't be surprised if it takes a very long time to get in game. But I like where its headed.
I think you need to own land to be able to build in a lawful system. If the cost in resources is high enough, it can make base construction hard, so there is no space problem.
@@justinlambert390 IDK. I don't think that the resources or UEC will be an issue. I bet only high and highest tier of buildings will be costly. Also, even if they are hard for individuals, there are tons of ORGs going around. Pyro seems big enough but for some reason I feel like Stanton needs more planets and moons 😅
@h3llofademon maybe they can limit the number of land available and force people to go in unlawful territory to be able to build. For star citizen 1.0, they are planifying 19 planets on 5 different system. And to own land, you need to be a citizen, so to finish the main story. Maybe orgs won't be able to own multiple territories on the same planets.
Especially for space stations, they are likely to require ALOT of initial resources and lots of maintenance. The fact that only decent orgs will be able to afford them, combined with the fact that space in space is basically infinite (even in game, the scale of distance between planets, etc is HUGE) Stations will be a non issue for space. Now, land stations will be a little harder.
It would be great if furniture and decor had more of a purpose. I enjoy decorating, but without a reason, it often feels very pointless if you aren't into roleplay. I love how Valheim gave you a reason to decorate by providing buffs. It would be great if they added a number of benefits, such as rested bonuses for increased crafting quality or shorter crafting times etc. Maybe something that would also benefit people who aren't crafters. That would be a lot of drive for many more people to be interested in decorating their places and seeking out new home decor.
Honestly this Con gave me confidence they have a fully fleshed out design for the first ever super scale procedural crafted sandbox mmo with loops for game play depth all the way up and down the scale. This is a world first and I applaud them for finally getting there. But... they are a bit late getting there. I kinda expected to see them a bit further along. And we still need a combat flight model which balances multi crew ships with the single seaters in a way which makes sense. I agree with much of the high skill pilots that ranges are more crucial than speeds, ranges should be tied to power generation and that current SCM speeds are a bit too slow. I was really hoping this would be addressed but it wasnt yet.
Tier items/resource are great in MMOs. Gives grinding some meaning. My only fear is losing gear, be it bug or pvp/pve. At least with ships you can get insurance to cover lost stuff on the ship. So hopefully CIG will come up with a clever solution to prevent gear loss.
they are putting together mechanics already present in other titles ..the new flight system add example seems taken directly from starfield for the energy management system ..the base building will probably be very similar to starfield too ..however this is a very good thing , i am confident that these mechanics will arise very quickly having many things already “ready”
All of these new features are making SC sound like a real game instead of an amalgam of test features. If they can pull off all these new additions, along with server meshing and general game stability, SC could be one of the greatest games of all time.
I do hope I'll be able to build a halfway decent base as a mostly-solo base that can be used to help support myself and friends who barely play. I did personally find base building the end game once it was teased last CitCon.
The presentation Maneki Family has been waiting for! Thanks for breaking it up into topics though, expecting a kid to sit through a 5 hour presentation is just unrealistic. (she was riveted during the whole SQ42 presentation though, crashes and all)
Is persistant habs still a thing? or have they abandoned that ? Not that I don't think base buiding is great. I just think giving new players the option of having their own "appartment" in one of the cities as they are starting out a nice idea.
Gah I really wanted an update on geographic features - because how are they going to add more rivers, volcanoes, caves etc etc if land is being bought up to cover already generated terrain?
Love everything, but as someone who has played a lot of survivalcraft games, I have some questions that make me hesitate. Outside of Org size bases, how to we handle things like offline raiding and general toxic behaviors like this?
All this is making me think I need to rethink dropping the Prospector from my Fleet. Though, TBF, I think it'd be far more fun to fly down somewhere, into a cave and roll out with a ROC to go mining down deep.
I really want to see a grand exchange for player goods. Id like to be able to buy 100scu of iron and pick it up at a certain station. Maybe have arbitrage options as well
Player Contracts (Another thing directly taken from EvE Online as their inspiration) -- Almost made it into 3.24.0 That / Vehicle Elevators / Pledged item recovery were 3 things that were slated to come into that build. I could mine Gold / Beryl / Copper on Daymar - take it to Cru - L1 to refine it ..then put up a player contract offering to sell my Gold / Beryl / Copper at Cru - L1. A person can see my contract, accept my contract and i get paid instant - then at their leisure they can land at a public hangar at Cru - L1 and THEIR Gold/ Beryl / Copper they purchased from me is in their inventory - ready for them to move into the freight elevator and haul away in their ship. We havnt seen the feature list for 4.0 .. we are still doing the stability tests and getting the jumps and handoffs dialed in - but my fingers And toes are crossed that Player contracts comes in 4.0 (along with those other features )
Well, I was in my 20s when they started funding, I'm almost 40, and I'll be in my late 50s or dead before the game comes out. They have so many unnecessary things added to be able to build. I don't want a video game to feel like a 2nd job. I want to relax and escape, not work a 2nd job in the game.
wow this is going to be huge for gameplay and loop expansion....amazing to build and upgrade, but it definitely seems org heavy, how are they going to do that for single player? basically buy only?
@BoredGamerUK Do you think 4.0 will still launch by the end of the year still? I don’t think Evocati is doing a good job testing. Every time I watch an evocati streamer I see no one putting bug tickets just leaking content. CIG I feel is not getting all the info they need without bug tickets. Not an evocati but just curious if CIG is getting enough info to release 4.0 in a playable state. What are your thoughts on this?
I don't like being able to craft manufacturers goods like presented here... will they add royalties or something to allow us to craft ship!? So many question material now and the first Q&A we have is on the TAC :(
They didn't touch on it but are players able to attack your base? or is it an instanced area that only players in your party can access? typed this up before the end of the video so i guess your base can be attacked, so can it be taken over by some one if they kill you? Thanks for the updates
Are we getting too much when it comes to crafting? I like variety but seems we'll be able to make things in a jiffy that takes corporations a long time and special circumstances to make.
