**The Drake Corsair, powerful and very cool! But good explorer? Aquila better? What do you guys think let me know down below!

love this ship as an explorer, daily driver, and even for grinding bounties in space or planetside. my one gripe is theres no medbay. Its just a little inconvenient.

They said in one of their ships discussion videos a while back that they were planning on widening at least the cargo bay to give the player a little more room around the sides of the Ursa in the cargo bay.

If you look at the ship matrix, you can see the Aquila is supposed to have 1 medium computer, while the corsair is supposed to have 1 medium, and 1 small. So the Corsair might make a better explorer, depending on how those systems work. But I am planning on getting one just because I love it's rugged asymmetrical beauty. And raw firepower.

So keen for the Corsair, gives me Rocinate vibes from The Expanse combined with Serenity from Firefly. Feels like it would be a great small crew ship, everyone has their own space can take heaps of different job types, it's definitely going to be my primary ship for a long long time.

This is the only ship that really caught my attention, pledge wise. Want to get one mut I missed drake week and I'm just learning about CCU chain now.

I agree with you about taking the corsair for exploration over something like the Odyssey. It never made sense to me for any explorer to be less than armed to the teeth. I mean the idea is that you're going into unknown territory and you have no idea what you might come across. You'll need medical, supply storage, maybe a lab, and defense. Better to have a gun and not need it than to need it and not have it right? Especially considering the lore apparently humanity has no idea where the Vanduul homeworld is, these guys are just traveling nomadic barbarians, I mean if you come across some of their fighters I'd like for them to know those 4 size 4s and 2 size 3s as well as the turret gunners are ready to wreck their shit.

I have the Aquila on loaner for the corsair currently. I ccu out of my Taurus. I really miss the Taurus as it was a great mid hauler for me and I loved that ship. I don't see the Aquila as a great explorer. It has a snub fighter and hauls less then the Taurus, but essentially looks exactly the same inside, so not impressed. Neither the Taurus or the Aquila have the same finished feel inside of say of ships like the MSR, or the Vanguard series, but I still love their insides. I will CCU another ship to get the Taurus back when the Corsair arrives for the cargo space. What I don't understand is why the fuel tanks for both ships are not as large as the MSR. I want to say something here which is a thing which is hard to quantify. The Vanguard Sentinel, the Constellations, even the Nomad; These ships have a feel to them that is very cool, and can I say home like inside? The MSR never did do that for me. Despite the absolute beauty and finish of the MSR, it had a cold feel. So I hope that the Corsair captures the feeling I am talking about. In the Connies, either of the ones I mentioned I feel like its going to be tough for anyone to bring me down, and in combat both are proven to be strong. Not dog fighters but can take a punch, and dish out some pain if turret is manned. In MSR I always felt undergunned if solo, but in corsair Pilot has a lot of firepower facing forward anyway so much like Connies, but with more turrets back and side. I look forward to seeing how the ships looks, how it feels, and especially important for me is the soundscape of the ship. I also want to know more about the weapons. WIll I be able to swap them out easily for say disortion weapons? Regarding scanners, and this idea that the scanners are superstar or something. This seems to be a selling point for all the explorer ships, and really? There is nothing real in game yet about that. This is why I no longer have the MSR, without this data running in game, it really just turned into a fast hauler that couldn't hold as much as the Taurus ....so I let it go for a Vanguard Sentinel, and I love that ship to death. Maybe I get the MSR later again if data running comes in. What I like about the Corsair though is it really a functional ship that can carry a Ursa Rover for me (MSR did that for me), or small well very defended loads. If physical cargo comes in and PYRO -- well now, the Corsair becomes a real Corsair for sure. Lesser armed haulers had better watch out. It will become the ship that the Pirates do not have now, unless they use a Constellation for holding stolen loot. So it becomes a more Piracy oriented vessal to carry the loot after another hauler is brought to a stop. Yep pulled out of Quantum, shutdown, boarded, cargo stolen, and loaded on corsair, that will be the loop. IF physical cargo becomes a reality. Oh I forgot and the Pirated ship will also have its components removed for salvage and sold if that loop comes in. Oh and good heavens maybe the hulk will then just be torn to pieces by the Vulture and fed into the hopper of the Reclaimer. My God its going to be brutal. Of course if none of that comes to pass, well Corsair seems like a cool ship to use to haul a vehicle :) just like my MSR was. But if it lacks that homey feel. or sounds like someone is beating on pipes inside - I will get rid of it.

I personally chose the 400i, I like speed, scanners, shields and style! Love that there are options for single/small crew to explore the verse; Origin 400i with a X1 (loaner nox) that fits in the nose and a G12 (tba release, currently using a dragonfly there) for the cargo bay vehicle. Perfect for taking to races like the Daymar Rally, helping scan for minerals and exploring anywhere within an atmosphere, the others can’t compete with it. RSI Connie with a snub fighter. My buddy has one and we love it for bounty hunting and stunting with the snub. Drake Corsair hopefully offers something unique besides a required Tetanus shot 😂

I'm actually pleased that you didn't go on and on about how it's a pirate ship first and exploration ship second, that's what so many reviewers have said. Good video. Looking forward to my Corsair.

I have one and can't wait to fly it. I kind of expect the Aquila to be used to find objects mining areas and anomalies. The Corsair on the other hand I'm guessing will be used to find player ships, bases, and mining operations.

corsair is going to be the "salvage" explorer. i bought one but i wouldnt be suprised if it will get melted when the final drake "quality" gets aparent

Not much wasted space apperantly, although I'm not sure how I feel with 4 separate rooms. And why on a Drake? This is not a luxury ship, not even the Carrack and the C2 have separate rooms. Can't help but think how 4 beds stacked up on eachother would save space and open un room for more stuff.

The hornet looks the way it does because it's based on CR's previous games. Wouldn't want that changed for the world. Believe the ship dates back to freelancer.

Some windows and/or skylights would be great. I got one, potential use: exploration and piracy.

i plan to use it as my daily driver i think it will fit my style of play the most for its size.

The biggest one I have acquired, I am very impatient to know which will be the variants of this great ship, which makes me more excited, a scientific variant, also because, the hardness and quality of the materials of the scientific ships is far superior, even though it is Drake, it would be a very strong point!

I am so looking forward to it finally being available. I got in at the concept too and it's been a while. :) I don't much care about the weapons, especially the turrets to port and starboard. Otherwise, I rather like it plenty.

Going the distance. When it comes to exploring you want to be able to stay out as long as possible and travel as far as you can. Which explorer can go the farthest?

I’m so waiting for it, but honestly I liked any of the other concepts better than the final version we got.

i have 2, i plan on keeping one and i expect the price to raise a good deal so one will be part of a chain to the polaris or maybe the odysee.

Hmm this one is a tough one, I have a Carrack so i wouldn't use it for exploration. The choice for me will be Between this and a Star Runner. I will be using it for fast, long range, Iffy cargo runs. I really do like the concept Of the Corsair, Guns and scanning. However it will have to compete with a Great handling and Fast Star Runner. Will have to see which has the best perks when both are sorted out properly

Should I upgrade my freelancer max to this one, seeing as I own a Star Runner as well?!

I wonder why the Corsair has so much space devoted to scanning but no scanning station. Will that be part of engineering instead?

I think the Corsair will excel most as a daily driver. The forward guns listed are huge, those side turrets are probably never going to be used. I would like one to be a docking station and the other to be a drone control station. I also think it needs a bigger shield. Either one large or three medium.

Love this ship but after getting burned on the ion nerf a week after I paid 250$ I'll pass, I'm a new player but have noticed a trend here. I highly doubt it will be allowed to keep 4x size 5 and 2x size 4 guns when no other ship currently can compete with this, this will just be ion V2 after a week of Sales.

Why the private courters? All ships before Corsair, it’s more similar to military bunk beds, open toilets/cutlass red..

In Q&A they said that the turrets cant face forward, they are only for broadside so they wont pop out.

The side-facing weapons are probably not going to see much use unless you plan to re-enact broadside pirate ship battles in space.

Man ships are cool but i really wish they would focus more on finishing server meshing and make the full universe

I recently bought a 600, and that's what I was mentally comparing during this video In its current form, the 600 explorer is a ton of wasted space and placeholder graphics. I hope after the redesign, the explorer gets more utilitarian. Let the tourer be the limousine

not a fan of the wings cause first of all they don't make any aerodynamic sense whatsoever and they're gonna be shredded to pieces in any kessler field, makes you a bigger target in general, big fan of everything else

If you go to a new area in your Odyssey how in the hell do you plan to magically pull a Corsair out of your butt? A hornet could fit in the Odyssey hanger but the only way a Corsair is going along with an Odyssey will be if it's flown by another pilot.

I'm pretty sure, you won't be able to fit this in the Odyssey.

Wish it wasn't so asymmetrical. The fad seems to have been started by space ship designers using aircraft carriers as inspiration. Unfortunately the trend seems to be moving to smaller and smaller ships. Aircraft carriers were designed that by by necessity. It was not arbitrary. There needs to be as much flat space as possible for aircraft. They are completely symmetrical where it matters most, which is the water. They are also designed to maintain a balanced distribution of mass. None of that applies to all these style over function asymmetric ships. The wings alone will screw the ship in atmosphere. Aside from all that, it just looks kinda ugly. The style isn't even good. I'm not even sure why they tried to make it so asymmetric when none of the other Drake ships are like that. If people insist that a ship be asymmetric for some reason, they should go out of their way to come up with a reason that makes a little sense.
