I just went through a roller-coaster of emotions for a hologram reveal

Olli the reason no one likes the Cutty Steel is because it's a passenger/drop ship with a single size 2 shield, making it a flying mass casualty event that just happens to be conveniently wrapped in its own mega coffin for easy disposal once AA rips you and your 18 closest friends to shreds.

I think one of my favorite things about Drake Defensecon is that just like all their ships, the con itself seems only about half polished. In the regular con, it's a well-polished space, where every visible surface is clean, well built out and looks great. In the defensecon, you can see the hanger bay the con is taking place in between all the colored panels, and all the carts / boxes that the decorations came in along the sides / back. It is such a good example of drake as a whole. I really think they missed an opportunity to invite small arms manufacturers to put up displays, akin to how the ship weapons had displays at invictus. I just think that it would have been very on the nose for them to do, and would work well because I think ALL of the drake ships have interior weapon lockers.

Part of the rework of the Caterpillar is going to be that those cargo doors on the sides double as cargo _lifts_ . The railings can be seen already, and those doors will slide down to give each bay two dedicated elevators.

The tractor beam is disabled in Armistice zones during the Invictus week because people used it to tractor beam the ship components out of the display ships and from the side displays during the evocatii time. You can use it in the Hangar now though, and it will likely be enabled again after the invictus week.

one thing I like about star citizen is how realistic the ships seem design wise compared to other Sci Fi ships, like, we can see these becoming ships in our world even with some features being a streatch

I hope in the future, that the showroom hanger will be filled with a fully explorable drake kraken

Hey Ollie, just in case you read this, capital ships are the gigantic ones. The Javelin, Idris, and 890 are co sidereal capital. Hammerhead, Reclaimer, Corsair, etc. are not. They haven't decided yet whether the Polaris will be categorized as such. Cheers mate 😊

being able to fly a rescue ship in star citizen seems like a cool concept, getting missions to rescue players or even npc's who are either incapacitated, stranded or even straight up dead and bring their bodies back. Imagine if you were shooting a ship and realize it's a rescue ship so you decide to let it go as good karma

Drake ships are made for boarding action(since they are pirate/bounty hunter orientated) so tight narrow corridors are better since it makes it easier to shoot targets as they come.

Drake ships are meant to feel claustrophobic. Also, that column in the Corsair is necessary because otherwise there wouldn't be any space to put those components and the engineering console. And if you remove the column you just end up with a mostly empty room that wastes a lot of highly valuable floor space, which would be horrible. Finally I just think it looks cool to have this circular room with a central column that has all these cable bundles running to it. Really gives off a cool vibe.

When using the tractor beam in a armistic zone, hold it in your hand and select customize on it, then exit back out and it will work :)

If speed is something you are trying to improve on, the Herald wasn't a bad choice but you might want to revisit some of the other ships. Ships like the Cutlass series can be equipped with an XL-1 quantum drive which can get you from Crusader to Microtech in about 4.5 minutes. Which is a little more than two minutes faster than the fastest quantum drive you can fit in the Herald.

Regarding Data Running, they could make the data include a virus that slowely tries to infect the data and currupt it. It's less about the players danger and more about them saving the data and preventing the ship from being hacked. Though they could still make stealing data from outlaws have a chance of starting self destruct, but stealing from UEE wouldn't. They would just give your ship a beacon for a bounty hunter to track you down and arrest you.

Cool, should be possible to have several Krakens docked together.

Note, the Cutty Red comfortably fits an STV in the little door/ramp area before you get to the med area. If you tuck it in on the right side there’s plenty of room to walk around it/ move SCU boxes past it

The full-sized and colored Kraken was on display outside on a landing pad at the old Lorville for Citizencon 2948. I think It was visible outside the ASOP panels at the space station. Also I think there is a full colored scale Kraken on display at cousin crows on the regular no? Pretty sure I've seen one somewhere in the 'verse.

In fact a full-sized Kraken was in Lorville during the 2018 IAE. It was in front of the spaceport building.

I wanna see a ship literally being held together with duct tape, like that helmet that is just a plastic bag, that, but a spaceship, not produced by a manufacturer, but just cobbled together by some random salvagers or something. maybe like a scrappy space "bike" with a couple random components strapped to an engine

I know this video is a bit old, but the herald is not the best for getting across the verse as it stands as of 3.19.1. The vast majority of your time is sunk in quantum travel. The Herald does not have the fuel stores to use the fastest QD available for it's size. The cutter does, but still is not the fastest across the flyable ships. Example, the Herald cannot make it across the verse with the fastest QD for its size, but the cutter will take 6 minutes from MT to ARC. However, the Connie or Corsair can bring that doewn to 4:29 for that same trip. Corsair has a larger QD tank than Connies currently, so you could do the MT to Arc trip 4.5 times before needing to refuel.

For the drake herald I think the second seat should be for a "data technician" who would have to play a minigame in order to give the pilot by keeping the data more stable and prevent its breakdown or possibly being tracked by pirates on higher threat missions. This would encourage more multi-crew gameplay and maybe even all ships with multiple data techitians for possible inter sytem runs.

Before I upgraded to a Carrack, I had the Corsair and it absolutely one of my favorite ships, but now that you mention it, that is my least favorite room as well(engineering). You’re idea of the center terminal coming down from above is a great idea! Honestly something like that would help A lot.

An Argo capital ship would probably be similar to the kraken but with less guns, and probably a refinery for fuel or mining.

Cutty Red is T3 type, T3 is minor wounds, T2 is major and T1 is all wounds with occasional respawn options.

It is a giant hanger, that's where the commercial flights are going to be some day, where NPCs will be flying things like the genesis starliner out of those hangars.

steal is hated because it is a black with seats but costs more than twice what a black does.

We dislike the steel coffin because it has the same armor and shields as the cutty black, and holding it steady long enough and low enough to use the guns is a death sentence.

I think it would be cool to have the kraken play as a medial HQ and have medical beds inside. Or maybe a mining HQ ship to store saddlebags full of raw material to refine later, or even refine itself.

Small correction, and it took me forever to get this straight. The Cutlass red has a tier three bed. Tier 3 injuries are the least severe.

I got a Kraken for a friend yesterday actually. Had to play the F5 game but was lucky enough to nab it for him while he had to be driving for a road trip. Was able to get it on the first wave too which was nice. Edit: To be clear, it was his money, I did not spend $1400+ of my own money on him lol

The Drake Herald Data runner is like a short range sprinter, which for me implies jump point transits as its native habitat. Hop back and forth as quickly and efficiently as possible. For the UEE, in-system communications would largely be via conventional radio/laser type transmissions backed up with local repositories in those large Communication Satellites and stations. The choke point for the UEE would mainly be at intersystem Jump Points along with local disruptive hazards like the SQ42 gas cloud environment. Mostly this sort of role could be automated with drones and other ships carrying packets of data intersystem. Drake serves the data smuggling needs of organized crime by building a legit ship that also gets past the Jump Point choke points.

I like the idea of data that are so hard to carry for your ship's server, that if it hold them for too long the server just burn.

The Steel is hated so much because it is comparatively useless yet waaaaaaaaaaay more expensive than any other ship in the series. It wasn't put in the game for anyone, it was put in the game to trick people into thinking it would be cool, it was strictly a cash grab. I think the Cat's tractor beam will be part of the right-wing. I never played with it much, but I'm fairly sure there is a support station on that side of the ship all ready for it. I don't think the Corsair is a capital ship. It's basically Drake's answer to the Connie's. Ships like the Corsair and the Connie (which is bigger) are "Large" spacecraft, not capital ships. I don't even think that the Carrack is a capital ship. The only currently flyable capital ship is the 890 Jump. What was the Kraken's "hidden secret" tho? You can't have meant the holoview being "full size" because that was nowhere near the full size of the Kraken. Like nearly all holo-models, it was a scale model.

You should set your Corsair guns to all fire on the same click. Easy to do in the cockpit. Makes it easier to wreck your targets.

That's how it's done (realistically), use whatever space(s) will work and gussy them up. It will be fun seeing a Kraken parked in your personal hanger (fitted to your largest ship)?

I don't think that the data running needs a blow up option. However, I have another idea. Data value is 100% and reduces to -20% the longer you take to complete the mission. The faster you do the mission the more you get paid. If you are to slow you are penalized by having to pay for the old data. To prevent people from abandoning the mission to avoid the fee, make a late delivery still give positive rep.

I hate the Cutlass Steal bcause CIG took a Cutlass Black, put in some jump seats and doubled the price.

The Cat is getting tractor beams on both sides, one controlled from the observation deck on the right wing, one from the lower deck of the cockpit module, its also going to get the ability to detach the cockpit module as a shuttle, and the cargo bay modules will be swappable for other types of module other than cargo

The dark interior lighting of the Cutlass Red always seemed less "ambulance" and more "Organ Harvesting" to me.

Star Citizen really needs more ships that you are *able* to solo but are better with a crew, Cutlass and Freelancer being great examples, Connie, Corsair, and Redeemer being close examples but barely if at all Solo-able.

Wdym the herald gets you to mt faster? I mean it's pretty quick on regular flight, but the only thing that determines qt travel speed is the quantum drive which can be swapped out. And the qt drive of the herald is actually not that fast. The atlas is faster and has more range than the standard qt drive of the herald and both of those are far from the fastest qt drives. A cutter with a vk00 is stupid fast and thanks to its massive qt fuel tank it can zip around the system multiple times before refueling is necessary. If you wanna save time use that or a ship with an xl1 size 2 qt drive.

The Drake Herald is the fastest "non-quantum" ship. It has the fastest hydrogen engines. It has won many races. Every ship in the game can have its quantum drives replaced by military ones and at least double its quantum speed. Use Erkul to see how quick other quantum drives are. Actually, the Kraken is Drake's ONLY capital ship. The Caterpillar is considered a "large ship" ( but it is close). That was a player's ship you came upon.

Another cool thing about the Herald is that it is the fastest Ship in Atmosphere in a Straight line by quite a margin since it has so much thrust. I always had a soft spot for the Herald. It's like someone decided to cross a FBI Surveilance Van with a Topfuel Dragster.

I would love to see the Kraken as a NPC station placed in Pyro or random in stanton.

I'd consider the Cutlass Steal possibly be used as a Elite/Special Forces drop ship? I consider the Herald as a recon/spy ship. I believe the tractor beam controls on the Caterpillar will be in the "observation" room, opposite flight deck?

In the near future, data running should not be too tight due to bugs and issues. Perhaps a data degradation mechanic or something where you make less the longer it takes, but exploding doesn't make a lot of sense. A good middle ground would be high risk running where maybe it is illegal data and you get a bounty after a time or something like that. But it wouldn't be wise to go to tight until there is more stability in game. Also, if they reworked the lighting in the corsair I think it would feel better without a redesign being necessary

I slapped Grade A Military XL-1 into my new Cutlass Red and I can "wee-woo wee-woo" from one side of the system to the other in just about 5 minutes. It's quite something. edit: Oh right and yes, while the tier 3 med beds (or any med bed for that matter) "replenish" your thirst, they do not actually hydrate you. You still need to drink water every so often, or else your thirst will just dwindle faster, leaving you wondering why. Same goes for food.

I use the Cutlass Red as my daily flier because of the med bed. They are also, hopefully adding ramps to the Cat bays.

The cutter is and upside down version of the caterpillar cockpit. The cockpit is going to be able to be detached from the cargo area at some time. There is also another tractor beam on the other side of the caterpillar.

Datarunning should have Racecourse type scoring. The faster you deliver, the more you get paid.

Argo large cargo/exploration vessel? Imagine if all the space for the cargo arms on the Argo Raft were replaced by the standard fare for medium exploration vessels, including upgraded weapons hardpoints, a medical bay, bunk space for 6, and you end up with the Nostromo from Alien. 🤷‍♂️

The cutlass series really should have been a modular ship. Give it that pickup truck vibe that it’s used for.

the herald and the cutter actually upgrade into the same QT drive so the cutter with a vastly superior quantum fuel reserve is just better for content creators since it also has the claim time of a starter ship. I love my cutter its almost all i drive unless im doing combat or cargo

All ASOP terminals in Area 18 were bricked in my shard last night. Rented a Cutty Steel from the Con to taxi people back and forth from A18 to Bajini, but nobody could get the seats in back to work. Maybe there's a control or switch or hotkey I couldn't find? Not sure, but it was pretty disappointing not being able to use it for its intended purpose.

Got yourself a Herald? Don't you mean a "thruster with a seat". Also, data running with it being timed, should be a reducing pay out (fast: full pay, slow: much lower pay). However, if the timer runs out you should get a crim stat, as it would be seen as stolen.

Not to be pedantic but the Corsair isn't a capital ship, it's only about the size of an MSR, size 4. I know you know this but the Kraken will be the Drake Capital class ship.

The mule is useless until they get the cargo handling ability working. I have one, but it has to work before I play with it anymore.

I've noticed the opposite where I can now use tractor beam in armistice zone where on previous patches I couldn't. Been loading up corpses and moving all to local storage, so quick now. Dumping corpses and attaching looted vehicle weapons in hanger

what if the argo ship was for transporting people and small mining ships, like you could carry 20+ prospectors and 5 moles or similar ships to an area. like a mobile outpost that lets you collect materials while you colonize a planet. maybe its explicitly not equiped for outfitting warships but can piggy back them and has a limited cargo space sp people could carry ammo but it would need to be transfered to an auxilary ship as the primary role would be transport and refinement.

I expect data running to be more or less like the movie/book Johnny Mnemonic. With the basic missions having the data stored and transferred from server to server, but the high risk stuff being stored in a implant that is placed in the courier's brain. Extreme risk stuff would be volatile data/over capacity data storage that if it isn't removed quick enough can cause severe brain damage/death.

I think data running would be better if the data becomes less valuable over time, since the info becomes older the longer it goes between A and B, and eventually worthless. Maybe tiers of performance provides a better price (ex: less than 10min is max price, 5-9 minutes 75% price, etc)
