U can park at least two or maybe three p-52s or p-72s in the repair bay when it is not being used and deploy them for extra security before bring in a ship for repairs. Just a thought.
+CordovaMage after reading about it more it seems you can fly it both ways, that option is available(Fin side) if you have a ship being repaired on the other. ^_^ ps: i thought the exact same thing
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1jClpxhT2dk.htmlm3s Can someone link me this picture? That Idris in the background has a really different railgun compared to what I've seen so far. It looks about ten times the size of the original weapon. Maybe the picture is fan made or something?
I agree this is a ship for pirate organizations and large exploration orgs. I also see hauling services need repairs for the freelancer or Hull class ships. If you have enough haulers in the org it might be a busy business for someone. It will be critical when the cargo you are hauling is worth more than your ship to have someone who can come fix your ship when you are floating in space. I would think there will be a big up front cost for materials. So negotiations will be key, and the player will personally need this skill. You won't have a game mechanic to set the price for you. An example will be If you paid 40,000 UEC for the inventory of materials and fuel for your ship, and a repair needs 25% of my materials to fix. Then add in that it takes 30 minutes to get to teh job plus an hour of a Repair Arm Operator and the Repair Task Manager to fix. Then you are going to want to charge 10K plus a mark up on the materials, a fee to cover the money paid to real or NPC crew members the cost of fuel for the travel. also you need to earn a profit more than you would have made running missions during that repair time. So expect a big bill and fight for a deposit before you leave the dock. Expensive ships like this are big targets for the fake distress call. You QT to a remote area of space but instead of finding that freelancer with hull damage you find a pack of pirates looking to add a repair ship to their collection.
I got the email saying the sale was on and I instantly bought it. That seems to be a reoccurring theme for my hangar xD Also I am amazed by this ship. STL, what do you think of the idea of using drones like Guardians of the Galaxy where they escape the prison?
+alkohnest I do have an org, here's our page; robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/WASHBURN. I will say I'm not trying to use STL's video as a place for recruitment, I am just answering your question.
Seeing this video about the Crucible (no newer vids) my plan of running a mobile emergency repair vessel doesn't seem likely even with NPCs. I planed to have a Cutlass Blue (redo / parts truck), 85x (personal transport), Argo (move items and ship to ship) and Avenger Renegade (defense, misc...). It sounds like there's not enough room even without including the craft being repaired? ;-) I might be able to get one in game play (unlikely), work aboard one (partner)? Custom Mods? Oh... I forgot the Dragonfly Black (unk?) I Have. It's mute, it won't fit either. ;-)
Pulled the trigger on a Crucible as soon as it came available. I have decided that my character is going to be a Mechanic first and foremost so the Crucible was the one ship that just made sense for that role. $350 is a lot of scratch...but I don't regret it because I know I will utilize the ship and it will be invaluable for myself and for my Squad/Organization.
The Crucible is going to be a fun ship to be on when it's busy! I bought one and can't wait to walk through it in a hangar! The possibilities for modules and accessories is unlimited :)
Love this video!! It's concise and informative which is really uncommon for a star citizen video. also love the voice, weird thing to say but i'm a little tired of you-tubers with hard to understand voices. Definitely subscribing, love your work!!
I should be able to look after it's self, unmanned turret top 2*7guns and lower unmanned 2*6 guns and i would setup a supply run to keep with repair's!
you know i have this idea for creating like this mobile city, made up of tons of differnt ships, slavagers, repair ships, a few endevors equiped with bio domes, telescopes, drones, hospital wings as well as a hanger filled with cutlass reds, a few fuel Gemini's with fuel scoops, caterpillars with some store front modules, some mining ships, heralds, the list goes on. i mean think about it, a mobile community made up of tons of ships of various purposes, types and sizes, all living free of the hand of the oppressive many and rarely having to land on a planet and or space station except to find some work of some kind, basically living like the crew of serenity from the show firefly but a much larger scale, i mean how cool would that truly be to in star citizen, to live truly as free as boundless sky?
I hate the forward swept wings. They appear to have no purpose and make the shit look ungainly, which is the front? Better to have a solid rounded look, like a trilobite.
you would need crucibles to rebuild/bring derelict ships online and probably the only way you can efficiently get a cruiser, carrier and possibly the super dreadnought
I'm glad you have 90 days on that kickstarter, because this month is a wash with that anniVESREary sale happening, it never fails enjoyed the video, they always informative and help me make those informed decisions
I need a truthful answer. Should I buy the carrack or the reclaimer? My friends and I are really into exploration and may buy a carrack, but we're afraid about how we can sustain money which is why we would also want the reclaimer. So carrack or reclaimer?
+igoodboyMC I personally own a reclaimer. I know it will make money. My friend picked up the carrack but if it doesn't make enough money starting out he can work on my crew till he has enough to money for the costs of running his carrack
+igoodboyMC Carrack carries more cargo than most people think, so it's not totally limited to exploration. Reclaimer should be a good money maker though as there will be a lot of ships going boom. It's kind of a toss up, but you get a lot more versatility out of teh Carrack.
Do you think this ship would make money easier than the Reclaimer? This would actually make my decision on which ship to go for. I want something as a long term investment kind of thing.
+Justin wood the reclaimer is a lot more expensive I think it was over $500. But u will make a lot more friends and orgs will accept u more if u have a crucible to help ppl and NPCs will also need ships repaired. There will be lots of bad pilots out there that will need to be repaired and they will pay nicely if they want to keep their upgrades. So, in the end I think the repair mechanic will be fun and u gain friends in the process vs. being a car/ship crusher in the PU.
im curious how flyable this thing will be by one person. and i say flyable and not opporatable. now that we have the prospector, what i am wondering is if the crucible could carry it and its extra loaded up ore containers, so that a lone miner wouldnt have to be running back and forth to retreive his/her hidden ore boxes that he/she hid away on some planet or asteroid in the hopes they would not be found and stolen by someone else looking for an easy pay day
I don't see any reason you couldn't carry the saddlebags in the scarab. I'd love to see a cryengine guy like GHG try to see if a prospector would fit in there. My doubts are with the ship height
Will get one of these through game play, that's why it's a game. Cloud Imperium have met all their stretch goal funding. It's just sit and wait now. Unfortunately, I think they are at least 2 years out till full release. I base this on Skelton's comment on the Nix environment and the work they are doing on the next environment. So two environments are completed or close to being completed... out of 100+ needed just for the systems. Not including the space environments needed. Maybe I read it all wrong... but my spidy sense tells me we are still closer to the beginning then the end. Good Luck on the adoption!
+Steve Bogle Thanks Steve. I think we are likely going to see a staged "final" game where we get smaller sectors of space at what they will call release and add new systems as they get worked through. But who really knows lol
+Joseph Hodgson It could but as soon as a ship needs repair it's getting the boot. A Super Hornet or any other jump capable ship that fits might work because it could get to the next destination (maybe?) without having to be in the "pouch" (I hope that phrase sticks!).
Glad I snapped up the Crucible. It's the ship to escort other ships in deep space missions. I primarily purchased this ship because I already belong to an organized guild and I always want to play the engineer character. I want to be there when one of my guild mate ships takes a hit.
perhaps the crucible should try to remain outside of fhe combat zone as much as possible though? i mean can you really fix up your allies very well whilst you yourself are under fire?
That goes without saying. Than again if you are too far away for hurt friendlies to limp too, than you have to weight the risks and bring the help to the patient.
+Phillip Mulligan well docking is already known to be a thing, and weve even seen the idea of docking 4 constelations to a caterpillar module, so docking a crucible to somethijg larger isnt too far fetched
