I find it interesting that you have a slight issue with the vehicle's size and scale, when for me, I thought to myself, "Holy cow! CIG finaly designed a vehicle that was not needlessly oversized and far to big for its role and purpose!"
yeah, same here. bought one already so I can toy with it for now. I'll probably use the LTI token on it in the future, and buy a STV ingame. shouldn't be too expensive, I think. it's really small, fit's nearly everywhere, and it drives like a badass. I feel it sit's a bit thighter on the ground and I believe CIG forgot the brakes for it. but it's funny like hell driving across rough terrain :)
I think he’s just saying that the scale for the design seem small, which I agree. But I am glad they finally put out a smaller sized buggy type vehicle. It just looks a little funny like the design was meant to be bigger than it actually is.
I kinda see this more like a personal car then a exciting racer; something your average joe might drive downtown area18 to get something for dinner or maybe do some joyriding in, but yeah, I'd pass on this too; I like the style, but my money is going on either the ground cycle whenever that comes out or the origin ground vehicle
Yeah, I'm not buying ground vehicles with real money. They are cool, but I can get an Ursa after only a few hours of gameplay. (Less if you are leveled up enough as a Bounty Hunter)
@@citizen_brimstone3113 fair enough and I'd mostly agree since unless a ground vehicle really grabs my attention like the nox, I'd earn them in game too
there stuck on the outside because the animations to reach out and grab them are far easier to implement then haveing your character reach across the seats to grab the gun Video game
I like it personally. Ground vehicles aren't as useful in SC at the moment as I'd like, though hopefully that changes in future, and I'd like to think that ground vehicles will be more worth using over shorter distances than ships. That's what makes sense to me. I originally purchased the Tumbril Ranger with LTI, but I decided to swap it for this as I much prefer the styling of Greycat vehicles over Tumbril ones, and I feel like this would be slightly more useful than the Ranger, which is overly large for a motorcycle. I like the design overall, as it is very clean and not a over-complicated eyesore like Tumbril vehicles are (personal taste), my only criticism with the visual design is the front is very wide. I almost feel like the engine bay is only as big as it is to fit the component sleds in it, which results in it being limited in how small its dimensions can be. If the fancy sleds were ditched in favour of simply having the components be unscrewed and lifted/slid out of the engine bay, then it could be made less wide, and from a IRL perspective; not having the fancy sleds means one less thing that can break. I much prefer the scale of Greycat vehicles compared to other manufacturers. I find most SC ground vehicles are waaaaaay to comically big. The Spartan is way too big for an APC, and the Nova is way too big for a tank: Lots of wasted space and wasted weight that makes those vehicles much bigger targets without offering anything of real value other than leg room. I'd like to see more vehicles that are comparable to the scale of the Greycat PTV, STV, and upcoming UTV. oh, also side note; for some reason that tiny STV somehow weighs 4 metric tonnes. Those component sleds probably are a lot of unneeded weight.
Agreed about the Nova - I figured a rear end that spacious would maybe at least have some troop space. There was a nice writeup on the reddit a few years back about what the frame as-is could offer as far as ground combat doctrine, but sadly it's just large right now. Has me hoping for a no-nonsense low profile light tank at some point.
The pisces weighs 48,000 KG. There is literally no way they could pack that much mass into such a small ship. Especially being that it's armor is very thin and it's got small parts. Ship and vehicle weights are completely wrong now and hopefully are fixed in the future as realistically the pisces should be 10-12,000 KG.
@@JonBergacs 12,000 kg is comically low, that's just three times the weight of the Hummer EV, and you could almost fit the Hummer EV inside the Pisces.
@@billywashere6965 the pisces is little larger than an F22. And the hummer EV is at maximum 4 282 kg. So the pisces being over 2x the mass makes sense. I think you are confused.
@@JonBergacs Dude, a Pisces is larger than an F-22 and an F-22 is nearly 20,000 kg. The metrics are waaaaay off if you think a larger, heavier vessel than an F-22 should be lighter than an F-22.
I would say the Avenger Titan should be the gold standard for small vehicle fit as a design metric. The STV should have been designed to fit in there as well, and I’m disappointed that it doesn’t quite due to some unnecessary height constraints added purely for aesthetics. A vehicle like this with a Titan would have been an amazing combination for newer players, but as it is, they still don’t have a good ground vehicle option with a smaller ship.
"Looks strangely scaled" *is in fact almost the exact size of a Jeep Wrangler* I'm not sure I see the difficulty? Always personally thought the Cyclone was too huge even for somethin like a Humvee, this feels much more like an actual little jeep to me. Which is great cuz now i can dirty up my little jeep and then stick it in the back of my 400i just to piss off all the people who said it shouldnt be able to carry the "dirty mining vehicle in my luxury ship"
I think the scaling issue is because everything else is too big to accomodate AI nav and animation metrics. Sitting in the MSR you look like a child pretending to drive your dads truck...
I mean, I have purely as it’s this year’s LTI token and useful to have one. For the vehicle itself, it’s beautifully put together and designed so props to CIG yet again, but really something anybody will be able to cheaply and easily buy in-game, so isn’t worth it for me.
Weapons holders are fine but what about the backpacks they need to be put somewhere. another missed trick - just like not putting saddles bags on the hover quad, even though there are designs with saddles bags attached.
hell ya buy it or two. they are fast , fun ,. storage, and LTI. what more could you ask for. keep the 2nd one to do the upgrade path because it will be more money in a few months
While I'm sure this will be pretty easy to get in game, I did decide to go ahead and get one. If anything, it'll be a nice LTI token for me in the future.
Dunno why they won't make more enclosed vehicles like the Ursa and Spartan... I'd prefer a single seat vehicle this size but fully enclosed to protect the driver from hazardous environment and lack of atmosphere.
The STV is bigger than a Humvee in height and width, if the dimensions are correct (a smidge over a ft shorter in length). The Cyclone is obviously even bigger.
I like it, but most of why I like it is dislike of the cyclone varients, I really just want to go fast on the ground, and I hope one day we get a smaller and enclosed ground vehicle. However big agree on the weapon racks.

Just now I got stuck inside one. It's so nice it won't let you dismount!
I love these videos. You have the best vehicle vids in star citizen and I always look forward to your "should you buy" videos on every ship; and I have since like 5 years ago. I hope you keep them up.
In-game you should buy whatever you want, yes. Real money, no. That is pretty much my rule of thumb for everything at this point, I've given CIG more money than I should have as it is. For other people though, stuff like this is cheap in-game anyway so no real reason to spend actual money on it. I don't play the alpha a ton and even I've earned more than enough to buy a cyclone, I believe this is cheaper than a cyclone so easy to get. I don't do the whole "LTI token" thing as that simply means you plan to spend more money and I don't so that's not a factor for me.
I spent $45 to get this game and while I haven't spent anything else outside of that, I do appreciate the backers who have and the ones who continue to do so. This game is only possible because of backers who spend real money. If that was to ever stop, then there is no way CIG would be able to operate 6 studios and the slew of staff they have on hand.
@@blackmamba___ Yeah, every chance I get I buy something from the pledge store if makes sense. I definitely plan on buying more as well, because this is a project I really want to see succeed. It's not like there is any other game even remotely in its league or even attempting to do half of what it's doing.
i can confirm that the STV doesnt fit into an Avenger while the PTV still does. (might have been one of the first things i tested 😋) But to me the driving is worlds better than anything so far and super fun. especially turning on landing pads or general town ground What bothers me though: You can carry two delivery boxes in the back while the usual delivery mission makes you handle 3. that creates a bit of a hassle over time
@@chaoscorgi9348 true, i thought of that as well. But the very next moment i thought "force reactions" and saw it shooting out of the car at the very first bump. So until we get to mess around with safety belts that would be more of a plan c
@@chaoscorgi9348 Whoa, can you actually place cargo in the passenger seat? I tried that with the Tumbler Cyclone once and the box just fell through the chair and onto the ground when I started driving.
Hold up, hold up. The weapon placement is realistic to contemporary solutions for modern Side by Sides. You're not wrong about the concerns of debris and jamming but it is a viable location for weapon transportation in general. Just don't buy Drake manufactured firearms and you'll be fine hahahaha!
#STLYoungBlood I also did not like the gun rack placements for the same reasons you gave. The mud flaps should have had a hide-away gun rack or a gun rack behind the head supports that popped upwards when activated - it too was hide-away. Imho - #Cyclone > #GreycatSTV but I still think its an acceptable vehicle for users on low budgets but need something to get around in. It was gun racks which are better than nothing and it has storage. #Cheerio
I feel like the designers get all their inspiration and direction from pictures from google searches and they take no time to actually study why certain machines and vehicles are designed in specific ways. this goes for all the designers, particularly the ship and weapon designers. At least the ships theres an excuse since they dont actually exist but the weapons designers you can tell while they do put in a lot of effort its misguided. it feels like the design team has never actually spent any real amount of time with firearms.
I would recommend against mounting your weapons on your vehicle mudguards IRL. I like these little vehicles, as they are more practical than the PTV, but smaller than the Cyclone for a general runabout vehicle. Looking forward to the UTV.
Thanks for the video, helped me make a decision. Minor correction: each mission box is 1/8, or 0.125 SCU, so the cargo capacity isn't 0.5, but 0.25 SCU. Carry on making sick videos!
