That tractor turret will be a massive advantage for most gameloops. Especially for hauling with the upcoming cargo reworks where we have to manually load/unload the ship and move stuff from/to the hangar with the new cargo elevators. It can move the bigger 8,16 and 32 cargo containers which the handheld tool can't. But even for combat missions it makes stripping weapons off of destroyed ships for some extra profit a lot quicker by just lowering the cargo lift, ripping the weapons off with the tractor turret and throwing them on there without having to EVA. Same with hull scraping and mining since you can quickly move the rcm boxes and ore saddlebags over.
Yea my thoughts exactly I’m like that tractor beam is going to be very helpful but a part of me is like, yea that’s cool but also more missiles go boom lol
Here's the thing though eventually all these ships are going to be able to trade out their turrets with those tractor beams. That is the goal at any rate.
I jumped up to the Andromeda but my playstyle leans towards cargo and vehicles and I regret it. I love that idea for the Andromeda-duo, lasers topside / ballistics under. That's some fine thinkin' right there friend...
I still love the andromeda but after thinking about these 2 for a while this is what i do to compare them. since i am making a military fleet the constellations are the blackhawk helicopter. guns and missile. able to fight bigger ships but not the best, transports troops, supplies, vehicles, Taurus lets you haul more and retreive destroyed vehicles and the andromeda lets you have more guns armor and bring a small air force. essensially if you are running a few andromeda use the taurus. if you are running a fleet of andromeda as like a truck convoy use the andromeda. 10x andromeda gives 500X missiles and 10 snubs. basicly a anti air emplacement and a cargo truck in one.
The reason for it is because the area where the snub ducks is being used for the contraband cargo area in the Taurus, which will see some heavy use in the future once it's properly implemented.
Here is what most people don't know, the Phoenix has the exact same size cargo bay as the Andromeda. So the only difference between the Phoenix and the Andromeda is the Phoenix has fewer missiles, that's it, even the turrets and weapons load-outs are the same. (One minor difference is that Andromeda has a Merlin and the Phoenix has an Archimedes.)
@@talentedpigeon3296 According to Erkul (and other sites) the Phoenix and the Andromeda have the same hit points. There is even a Reddit thread citing that the Phoenix has more hit points for “executive safety” according to CIG but I never trust Reddit so I’ll go with Erkul on this.
I have a taurus. 2 rhino repeaters 2 lightsrike cannon Top is a disruption repeater. When I have a top gunner and a wing man for fight support we are able to basically turn off enemy ship systems and blow bits off them with a mixed rate of fire and dps. Works a charm
Taurus pilot here-what a lot of folks don't realize, is not only does the Taurus carry a P-52 Merlin snub just fine in the cargo bay, that you can fly in and out easily in space and with a little difficulty in atmo, but it can also fit the P-72 Archimedes from the Phoenix, abeit not completely level. This lets you avoid the wonky docking mechanics that have plagued the other variants completely, AND gives you that epic hangar feeling you would usually have to get a Starlifter for.
I had the Andromeda before the last reset. This time around though im going with the Taurus. The combat capabilities are roughly the same accept for the missle payload on the Andromeda. Which at first i thought was good until i realized size 1 missles were pretty useless unless you hit small ships with them. I noticed i was taking them out with guns far more often. The snub fighter is janky to use and has no real purpose yet. The Taurus however is almost the same ship with fewer missiles, a larger cargo hold and a tractor beam which unlike the snub fighter, will come in handy. Also the cheaper price tag is great. All in all its cable of solo and group play, salvage missions and cargo hauling. If i had the choice of just one ship i think the Taurus is it.
The center hull of the Andromeda can take more pounding it's like 10,000 more HP. BUT you are more than likely going to have an engine blown off first anyway so no matter in the current state.
I actually do not....the Taurus was borrowed so don't even have access to that any longer. Would love to do a video with all 4 at some point. Would be sweet. Thanks for the comment!
I know the Taurus doesn't have the lower turret, but it looks like the actual seat is there in the cockpit. Or is that a seat for a tractor beam? Think I heard you mention that in the video. I mentioned on your last video that I want to grind for the Andromeda using my Titan Avenger, but I've never tried doing commodity trading before (buy low/sell high). I suppose the Andromeda has plenty of room for that too.
The Andromeda can do some trading. Not as well as the Taurus but it can handle some. Also the Andromeda can carry a full moles worth of quant or material. So there is that as well. Plenty of uses for it. The lower turret on the Taurus does go down but it's for the tractor beam that is not currently working or in use gameplay wise.
Any Constellation can do bounty hunting up to ERT, especially as you can swap the top guns to S5 laser canons, and shoot Hammerheads beyond their 1.4km gun range. You have to learn capacitor management and how to use its shields, as Connies aren’t really manoeuvrable, so you need to face tank.
Does anyone know if the snub ships trigger missile defense systems? Like, if you're hacking a comm array, can you use a snub ship to get there instead of a bike? Right now I use the x1
lower turret (Andromeda) vs. lower Tractor Beam (Taurus) + Snubfighter (Andromeda) vs. extra illegal Cargo Area (Taurus) + 28 Missiles Tier 1 (Andromeda) vs 80 more SCU in Cargo (Taurus)
I have both, upgraded my Max to a Taurus as soon as it was flyable. I switch components between the two of whichever I fly. But I have heard the size 5 weps all do the same damage with massively decreased range from 4700m to where the size 4's hit atm. So y not keep the gimbaled size 4's till the range of the size 5's come back?
Not sure what you mean, as the S5s laser cannons haven’t had a 4.7km range in at least a year, but they still out range and out power s4 gun weapons, so you can stand off outside 1.4km and blow up Hammerheads. Maybe you’re thinking of the AD5B Gatling, which has horrible dispersion beyond 1km.
In 3.18 ballistics are going to go through shields and straight into the armor of the ship. So the the 10,000 HP points of the Taurus vs the 20,000 Hp of the Andromeda will make become a huge difference in favor of the Andromeda with the later being able to withstand twice the damage as the former.
If the Taurus could fit a Balistia or a Nova tank then it would a real contender, but as it is it doesn't really have enough of an advantage to swap out from the Andromeda.
Right, a "gunship" should have more guns. If the Andromeda had 2 more guns it'd win over the Taurus. Whether those 2 extra guns were an added remote turret in the rear above the systems room or just 2 more mounted for the pilot, it'd actually wear the gunship title better. Especially when the tractor gets implemented, Taurus will be one of the best all around ships in game if not the best.
