Thanks for watching - If you watch this just note that these are my Opinions and I am of no expert on the subject matter. This is just a bit of information that I have personally seen over the years and maybe something I have said can help someone who is trying to make a choice.
My Direct Opinion is buy off the RSI store. Support the game.
If you are going to buy elsewhere - Do your research - Make sure the risk vs reward is worth it. Anything can happen even to the best and most reliable and honest people.

Agree 1000%. All you as a player have to do is wait. The event that ended last year was my first IAE. Apparently CIG changed up the format for how and when CCUs are offered during the event, but I managed to get a little over 30% off a large ship! I was unaware of the way CIG can take back a ship if bought off the grey market. I was reluctant before, but will definitely avoid it in the future. I want a lot of ships in Star Citizen. Believe me, I get it. There must be good discounts out there. There are extremely cool, rare ships out there. Still, in my opinion, its not worth it if getting them offsite has the high probability of it being taken away, legitimately, by the company whose game I am playing and whose terms I have agreed to in order to play. I don't mean to come across as a white knight: plain and simple, its their company, so their rules even tho they may not be the most clear about this particular issue.

the best way to use the grey market is buy auec a month after a patch generally 1$ gets 5 mil auec, i mean CIG is going nerf your ship after buy it any way, as far as buying a cutty for 80$ on the gray market it isnt a good idea when consider if you wait for a sale and do some creative melting you can get a cutty and starter pack with LTI for 90$ directly from CIG , at least thats what ive got in mine

Starhangar is extremely reliable. But for covering the risk of the transaction, they do charge a commission to the seller. Since CI stopped giving refunds, this is the only way to get out of this 12 Year unfinished game is by selling your ships. If you understand the ship trade well, you can get all your money back and even profit, if you have a lot of ships that appreciated in value over time. I was up to space marshal, when I became worried this game will never be completed. After selling all but 4 ships, I was $1500 up, and not worried anymore, if they finished or not.

P.S. Things look up since late 2023, but realistically, it's still far from done. In its current state, you can play it, but its not much fun, and there are weird omissions, like gigantic blobs of cities with mostly no function, you can't even drive your vehicles through the cities. Hotel, space port, a few stores work, all else is dead geometry. I hope they don't try to fix this, they need a new, functional concept for sensible towns in the future. I log in every three month to check progress...

Ya I’m doin something similar, I want the Conni but $240 is a lot to drop at once so I got the Cuddy Black for $100 and will upgrade a couple times and work up to it. Best I can do on a budget, lol. Thx for the content.

Yeah, it's definitely a risk. I know I HAVE bought and sold ships on the grey market, but I couldn't tell you which ones anymore. Now that I play the CCU game, I haven't even looked in several years.

then just before launch you tell CIG your account got hacked and you get back all the ships you sold? With their current system that is entirely feasible... 🤔Definitly somthing a little broken there... What's to stop you from "selling" a company thousands of dollars worth of ships then just claiming them back with a support ticket? How does the sale even work? are you selling the entire account? Cause you can't gift a gift... 🤔🤔

The only issues with these, all the ships you can buy in IAE or invictus to save a TON. The only place to buy ships from the grey market, is buying limited hull ships, example Best in show Argo cargo, as this can only bought from the grey market. Thats the major downside on the grey market as CIG keeps selling once a life time ship and the grey market holds all the cards for the next years. I do want some limited hull ships but seeing this hurts.

Is this still the case? I see as of March 2024 On the website it states "Pledges that have been gifted away from your account no longer belong to you and thus are not eligible for a refund. For this reason, be certain that you are okay with losing access to any ships or items you give to a friend, as it is a permanent decision" i will look more to see on hacked accounts in particular to see if anything changed.

Why would anyone ever spend a single dollar on SC ships if it wasn't going to support development?! We aren't buying a product, we are supporting a game. I don't get it.

Because despite them treating it like an alpha or "test" they still treat it like a live service game. For example the have the PU for persistent universe and then they have a PTU for persistent Test Universe. Why are we not playing in the PTU. This is just a very small example. Also just one person's opinion. I also get what you are saying as well.

Agreed, but then you can have the same issue buying a second hand notebook with anti theft technology on Ebay. What would you do if seller claim to Intel that notebook is stolen? Ebay has to mitigate proving with a "services payment" that transaction was fine (involving also a possible stolen notebook prior to sell). Same thing on grey market. You pay with a PayPal TAXED transaction (goods, not friends) and that could be the proof of "2nd hand gain". You are right on your sentences, but it's the SAME problem using ebay right now. So the video will be "don't use ebay, if you need an object?" Again, i'm not assuming that you are wrong or something similar, i'm only pointing that risks are the same of EVERY 2nd hand market.

Nope I agree with what you say as well, ebay "could end up the same way" ebay is a lot less like y to change it's rules and such. Ebay is a lot more stable the cig as a company but same out come and principal. If you want to make sure you get what you are paying for....buy direct.

@@MrSlvr2000 English is not my native language, so trying to articulate more than a standard sentence can lead to a syntax problem. What i'm trying to say is (as an extreme example): a friend of mine (or thief) sell my secured notebook on a 2nd hand market; you buy it, you have a proof on your PayPal, but in the end is still stolen, when i activate the anti-theft procedure (same as iphones or android devices). Police (or similar authority) will try to recover my object no matter what and who you paid. Same thing you are describing here for gray market; CIG will recover, no matter what or who you paid, another one stuff, even if there's a proof of payment and a "signed toss" both onto reddit PSA and PayPal invoice (note, invoice, not friends transfer). Extremizing example, we can quite compare the "rare" issue can come in both worlds. OBVIOUSLY, i'm not encouraging using gray market, i'm only summarizing a similar issue that could happen everywhere in the world. Last but not least, as most voted comment in every video that explained the issue, primarly fault is by CIG, with high FoMo pratice and bad structured gift system.

As a very new player, I appreciate the "events" having something to make it special, like selling a new ship, but to me, that should be all they do. A chance for a new released ship or ground vehicle. The fact that they have had ships for many years, that are ONLY available once a year is fucking lame. Makes zero sense. Sure, make the "Best of year edition" only available during the event, or a sale during such an event, but being a new player, and wanting to give them $500 dollars for a ship that was in game over 5 years ago, and the fact that I began during an event so now have to wait a year? Haha, no tyvm. What an idiot choice on this. I don't need to have wasted years of my life in the "verse" to be able to tell shit from shinola. In now seeing the grey market isn't going to be a risk I'll take. I have no alpha gripes, and have experienced all the bugs, can deal with wipes, but honestly, after seeing there choice in how they sell ships, oh, and nothing but idiot trolls in chat (F12 FTW), SC will not be something will be able to get into. Sorry for the rant. Just really blown away by such a horrible choice on their part.

It's a rough subject for sure, and no problem at all and thanks for the comment. I also f12 first thing and only use it to see if there is a hot location. Other than that I stick to our discord where it's just a bunch of fun casual gamers. Playing with the group is what makes it fun for me......I'd probably not play if I was solo.

No point in buying ships but buying the alpha currency is worth it at least that's what I put a face to buy any equipment or ship in the game and get to play around with it even when they wipe the server's every 6 months to a year+

All ships have LTI, insurance will never be implemented as the game will never release.

Oh they will release it......one day when people stop funding it.....they will do a hail Mary and do an official release to grab the last little bit of funds they can. But just an opinion :-)
