Was a very easy purchase for me, the seeming endless capability to sit in deep space and mine and then refine with even a skeleton crew is what seriously stood out to me. No need to rely on other ships or making multiple stops to planets
Really looking forward to this ship. A few things I found interesting are the intended long range capability, the fact that it can hold 2 ursas in the vehicle bay, and that the larger cargo storage isn’t limited to the ore bags. It will be interesting to see just how versatile this ship ends up being. If you have a Mole and the extra funds I’d be more than tempted to upgrade to the Arrastra asap.

Oddly this seems to have a pretty high cargo capacity. Our orions should be higher capacity when the eventually get worked on. Hope for the loaner to bridge the gap.
Another great and informative video of ANOTHER Multi-Crew ship that will favor Orgs over small Teams, but then again, maybe favor Co -Op play in small teams in alliance with Orgs.
This is gonna be a must for me when its out. The mole is rough sometimes and the prospector is limited. Make me think the mole is going to be obsolete when this comes out
My god, so excited for this one. Really cant wait for group logging to come back as well so more time can be spent out & about instead of having to come all the way back to dump cargo.
I really love the design of this ship, like it's the perfect large ship with RSI design language that I was really waiting for, but a large mining ship really isn't what I'm hoping to get. If it ever gets a more multipurpose variant... I'd be very interested.

I have an upgrade towards the Arrastra ready to go; I love mining and this seems like the perfect ship for the group size I intend to play with, giving the turret operators something to do during transit (refine on the go when possible). There are two more ships I have on my wishlist around this (crew) size and price point: a salvage ship (the midpoint between a Reclaimer and Vulture) and a transport ship to use as a Mobile Base of Operations (something similar to a Liberator, but with medium pads, because most of my fleet aren't small fighters, but medium industrial ships)
@@Farrister Hopefully not as long as we have been waiting (in total that is), but it won't be for a while; are player operated refineries even on the roadmap in the foreseeable future? Although I'm kinda wishing that while CIG is working on RSI ships, they'll finish that entire backlog (Polaris, Zeus, Apollo, the whole lot), I'd say the Arrastra is a long shot for this year, but who knows what the added manpower will do to production times. If we look at the total headcount working on Star Citizen, it wouldn't be farfetched seeing a lot things getting done this year

@@Farrister The Odyssey is targeted more toward exploration, iirc, and have some of the interior spaces taken up with facilities to support that and no mining w/o another support craft. The Arrastra can mine and refine no space spent on exploration, that is what other ships in the larger group would be for. And having 2 to 4 allows you to scout more locations or if in more hostile they could form 1 (2 ships) or 2 (4 ships) groups to provide cover for each other while increases the number of eyes on scanners. If you do happen to run into hostiles, having a wingman allows better options for combat maneuvers, while making the enemies split attention for 2 targets. But, that's just how I would structure it if I have the resources and need.
It will be an in game purchase for me. It's great looking ship, multiple functions, doesn't need a 10 person crew, it's great! Just at that price range I narrow it down to favorites, and I'm not $500 into mining. Cool ship tho.
While there are other desireable ships this one looks to be useful, remunerative, practical and realistically liklely to show up sooner than quite a few others. Easy pledge call, aided by a good bottle of port 🙂Given the Mole, its running costs for over exuberant use may rack up a bit (bets on a Helix 3 laser...( and of course its potentially a high value asset, more so with an attendant group of Moles or Prospectors so don't be forgetting the security. Liking the idea that a scouting craft may fit the bay, that's very high on the list of things We Need To Kmow. I'd hope that the stock components are going to be viable at the start. Halo mining became much more interestiung however CIG need to sort out multi crew bed logging for ships like this where if they are not out mining they are not earning their keep and being able to spend exntended time in the Halo is more awkeard if all the crew have to commute.
I plan on using mine either solo or with a few NPC crew. It looks like you should be able to lose yourself out in the middle of nowhere and fill the thing up with refined materials and make the occasional trip back to populated areas to sell.
Farrister, quick question for you to ponder: why is the rear of the Reclaimer so large? There not much cargo space and the SCU manufacturing takes very little space, implying that the rear of the ship is meant to be primarly be used for something else, maybe «swallowing ships» and stripping them inside?
Sadly, nothing so grand. The Reclaimer comes from an Era of ship designs that although cool, we’re often impractical or just set up weird (Referring mostly to the Starfarer as an example). Most likely the Reclaimer may go through a bit of a rework in the future to better utilize the space for cargo/salvaged material. As of right now, a lot of the space is just wasted space.
@@YourNeighborhoodNeko It's hard to tell, they redesigned the claw which used to be the big thing that would rip and tear ships apart, but the combination of not having Maelstrom (the indepth ship damage physics) and redesigning the claw, it's hard to know if the future of Salvage will have actual munching, or if it'll forever be beam gameplay.

I would love you feedback on my concern on over coverage. Yes there is a new patch coming, but there is always a new patch coming. This one patch that is upcoming has been hyped to “change everything” about SC. “So why am I still testing stuff that won’t even be in the game?” That’s why I have now STOPPED playing the game. No matter how many glitches, crashes, failures to launch specific parts of the game or even the whole game, I played through it all. But being told that now my hours of playing the tolerance building pregame in order to stress test and provide feedback is TOTALLY pointless because the game won’t even be recognizable?????? Finally CIG found what will get me to throw in the towel.
Agreed on patches - so often hear the "this is the biggest patch ever", ultimately I just toddle along in my own time playing the game. But I'm enjoying the game as a game, not as a testing thing, not as a view to building something up over time, purely in enjoying what we have right now. That attitude has been working out for me, although appreciate everybody is different

@@Farrister they talk about internal and external cargo on the Q&A, and it’s stated in the rsi website article “discover the arrastra” technical specs It’s going to carry bags on the outside of the ship apparently. Which I find interesting, as some people complain about cargo on the outside but I wonder what it means for pvp combat. Having a ship armoured in bags of stone sounds cool 😂 especially with the nice turrets on the Arrastra
the Orion is to big cant land this ship can do it all with a small crew too that was the think that made me upgrade this ship to be honest CIg have gone to far when it comes to multi crew ships alot of people will burn in with their ships becouse of most are solo players so this ship are perfect
@@rebelsouljaz The Prospector is made by MISC and the MOLE is made by Argo. The Arrastra will be the first true RSI mining ship. The Orion in lore was designed by a large mining corporation and RSI was commissioned to simply build it. The mining company went bankrupt so RSI kept the design which is why does not resemble the normal RSI aesthetic
