@@alessandram9367 yes, small town , with a lot of good people that care about one another. Makes you just want to visit with each and every one of them. Luke's every day, Town meetings, Doosie's. Even if it's fantasy. Takes away my stress.
Indeed. Seems such a simple thing to say, but that's what makes the show work. The characters are eccentric. The dialogue is unrealistic. This turns off some viewers immediately, but if you grow accustomed to it, and give the show a chance, you find how well it jives with the slightly surreal, and utopian setting of Stars Hollow. Then the whole thing is just so pleasant and so fun to watch. I love it. In my third run right now. Was introduced to the show via 'Parenthood', which was also an amazing show. Lauren's work with Mae Whitman on Parenthood was some of the best stuff I've ever seen, and I just fell in love with Lauren (was already in love with Mae :-)). So I had to check out Gilmore Girls. So glad I did.
I grew up a military kid and moved every few years, even living abroad once, because of my dad's career and while I appreciate the opportunity I had to do that, I find myself wishing at times that I had been able to live in a place like Stars Hollow and have the relationships and experiences like those Lorelai and Rory had.
The speed in this show, what yanic is talking about, i got so used to it.. i cant watch another show without getting borred fast.. i need cafeïne speed!
Right. It turns off some people really fast, but they'd get used to it just as fast if they'd give the show a real chance. So glad I stuck with it, cause I absolutely love it. Great show.
Love how Michael Gerard's accent makes his character seem overly annoyed by everything, when half the time he's just being blunt. Had me laughing with tears so many times, still does.
Coming back to you comment 1 year later haha but is it the scenes where lol was also shot? Because they had overlapping sets (e.g. the church) but I thought that wasn’t from a real town
I absolutely LOVE this show!! I watch it over and over again and I hope Netflix doesn't ever take it off ❤️😁❤️ As someone who has to be at home most of my time it's nice to find something that has good ole CLASS, it's RARE these days!
I enjoyed the revival. It advanced the story, and I do hope they do another one. A couple of the best scenes of the show, especially on Lauren's part, were in the revival. The scene where Emily bawls out Lorelai after her father's funeral is so moving. Both actors did a magnificent job on that scene. Also, I love the Parenthood cameos :-).
What a gift it was to grow up as a member of a church that was kind of like Stars Hollow. There were a number of people who cared about and loved me and my siblings...and I'm still in touch with some of them after almost 50 years! I believe there are still neighborhoods and churches like that, but can take a lot of looking to find them.
Not an unheard of combo, but a sort of rare one. A show filled with red-haired, blue-eyed people would be WACKY! That's a real rare combination. Lauren and Alexis are so lovely. Alexis, of course, is world famous for her sparkly blues.
My mum's a single mother; this was our go-to show when I was a child. The single parent dynamic in the show was really relatable, especially now that I go back and rewatch it.
They wrote Rory as 16 in the pilot. She has a birthday party celebrating her 16th. There's many more little things like this throughout the series. Love it anyway.
@@Bibblesupremacy1992 That comment wasn’t meant for you. It was meant for a very mean person that deleted their post. Never jump to conclusions until you know the whole story.
Yeah. My third favorite character of the show after Lauren and Kelly Bishop. Her character is SO caustic in the first season. But somehow, despite that, she just worms her way into your heart, and the fact that so many ended up loving Paris so much is a testament to the writers, and Liza Weil.
Lol...I love shows where some of my favorite lines are in the first episode. King of the Hill had some brilliant lines in the first episode. The opening exchange of South Park is still one of my favorite scenes in the entire show. That great line from Alexis definitely qualifies.
For me it's all the natural conversations. I have dementia now and never get to enjoy conservation anymore..I'm cared for, taken to doctors or the grocery then its right back to bed.
I would like ASP to make a similar show but about sisters who are opposites. And where the younger sister acts like she's the older sister, rather than the traditional stereotype of birth order.
Yeah that Lauren was on Seinfeld also as a love interest to a main character , and that Luke was a professional baseball player so his baseball cap has a more meaningful meaning than just a fan of the game
I really miss Gilmore girls now that I’ve just seen the last season#7. But I always thought Luke and loralane would marry. It ended too quick. What happened to Jess too and did Sukie’s #3 child get born
After all these years I'm still watching this show. Romance is addictive 😍. Family ups and downs drive you crazy but you can't help but relate to it all. In 2022 - Watching on Netflix again!!! Oh well, I'll be back to work soon then all this fun will end. 🥲
Nope. They only shot like two scenes in the pilot there. The show was shot on the warner brothers lot. Pretty little liars shot in the wxact same spot too. So, stars hollow and rosewood are exactly the same.
That type of filming was synonymous with ChumCity Productions in Canada. Star was a Canadian Channel (now defunct) and probably used the same cameramen as MuchMusic (Canada’s equivalent to MTV). Watch some old MuchMusic clips the camera was never steady.
I am actually a lot like Lorelai minus the child and fast talking. We are similar in terms of how our brains work. My ex best friend one time told me I live in Walgreens Land. Meaning the perfect world. I am not a perfectionist but I like things done right the first time. Just like Lorelai. My relationship with my fiance is just like Luke and Lorelai's relationship. We felt the exact same way about one another from the start as they did. Everyone around us kept asking if we were going to go out. We just kept telling them we were just friends. No one believed us. Finally, we got together and are now engaged. It only took us months to decide to go out and not years. But still took us awhile. lol.
Agos I. If you watched the video at 19:41 Liza Weil (Paris Gellar) mentions "last season" so this is not just based on the first season. I agree they needed to add Jess. I wanna see a behind the scenes with Milo and Jared and see the actors talking to each other would be cool.
