I don't know about some people these days. But I'm extremely grateful that that particular flag didn't hit the ground.
@josephcovino9697
You are spot on fellow vet, this should be in all public schools taught to children growing up in America 🇺🇸. It is a shame and so "sad" that we have absolutely no control of what our children are taught anymore in this country. 😢
@kelleeholmes9448
After watching this, it answered a question I always had about this song, "Why do we sing it in the form of a question?" Why are we asking if it still waves when we clearly can see that it does, well yes we can, but those that gave their life for it are not here to see how it turned out, we are singing it for them. Did I die for nothing? Or is the flag still there? I saw a quote once that really struck home it said "The American flag does not wave because of the wind, but rather from the last breath that every soldier gave dying for it." My 2nd favorite, "If you do not want to stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them!" God Bless you and thank you for your service.

I can't watch this video without crying, those men were fearless and brave beyond belief
@blondie7238
From one vet to another, you’re the first reactor who I’ve seen remove their cover and put your hand over your heart. I am proud to be your sister in arms 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

We declared our Independence in 1776, this battle was in 1814.
@shellysmith4021
Thank you for reacting to this. I showed it to my 13 yr old daughter and was pleasantly surprised that she already had good knowledge of this important history, however we have the privilege of living within a great school system/community. We should NEVER forget the sacrifices that have been made for our freedoms. And the flag should always be respected.
@linderofhyrule
I come from a relatively big military family. My grandpa in ww2 my uncle some cousins my brother. I thank you and all vets for their service. It is a tremendous sacrifice. I will always stand on my feet. I will never kneel in front of that flag.
@kristie1584
Watch foreigners react to this story. It is amazing to watch other countries have American Pride for a moment.
@objectiveobserver4278
I am 64 years old and come from a military family. I learned this story in first grade. Every day, the entire school would stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance and then we would sing the National Anthem. We learned why you never let an American flag touch the ground and why we take off our hat and place our hand over our heart to pay homage to the men that risked/lost their lives for the freedom that we enjoy today. We learned that Americans do not kneel to our enemies or to the British royalty. I take tissues with me every time I go to a sports game because every time I hear this song, I cry. Thank you for your service. God bless!

I'm an old Lady now, but as a child in the 50's I proudly stood in my classroom, hand over heart, facing the flag & reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, every school day.

I’m ashamed to admit that I’m 58 years old and although I respected the flag because my daddy was a war vet and he taught me to respect it, and I knew all the words, I didn’t think what it meant. All I knew was that it is our National Anthem and I needed to always stand up and be respectful. I never understood the meaning of the words. In fact when I was younger, I didn’t understand why America The Beautiful wasn’t our anthem. It made more sense to me. Fast forward to a few years ago when certain sports players would “take a knee”, I told my husband that I didn’t understand why people were getting so angry about it. To me it wasn’t disrespectful to our country. It was a silent protest. My daddy had passed by then…thank God.
@cindysimpson1046
I cried once again watching this. I love this country!
@allybandy3047
This was taught in school for me, but that was back in the early 60s.
@Marbear-yy2tt

@NicholasRamos
Sir, your reaction to this video touched my heart deeply. Especially the part when you INSTINCTIVELY took off your cap & immediately put your hand over your heart, as soon as the Star Spangled Banner started to play, caused my eyes to tear up & feeling a large lump in my throat. It showed me you are a TRUE SOLDIER & remain LOYAL TO THIS COUNTRY. You, Sir, are a PATRIOT & I THANK YOU for your SERVICE to our COUNTRY. May God bless you, Sir! 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

Bravery: Being afraid of real danger but going towards it anyway.
@southernrebel3303
