A desert area in SSO would be THE BOMB. I imagine the desert in Uncharted 3, with abandoned cities and wild horses and sandstorms. It would be soooo coooooool

You put so much effort into your videos and you have such a small audience. It's honestly just sad.

The health bar was there before, for then you fell off a cliff or high place your screen would flash red and it would say "you have taken a dangerous fall! be careful next time" and you or your horse would lose health. If your horse loses all of its health I think you get sent back to your stable. It's the same thing with you falling into the water.

comparing sso to rdr2 makes me so sad that there’s no equestrian sport/adventure game with those amazing graphics and animations, and it also reminds me of how OLD sso’s graphics are.

My personal summary of and experience with Star Stable: Hi. I've been playing this game for eight years. I'm nearing my fifth anniversary of hitting level twenty. I'm predicting that in another two years, I might just be able to hit level twenty-one. If I remember right, the last time a main-line/soul rider story quest that wasn't the drastic alteration of Lisa's backstory was two or so years ago. Practically everything I own in that game is a quest prize, because I refuse to do something like buy a pet fox that costs more than a pony. As such, all of my "outfits" are mismatched, and I'm often mistaken for a noob by people around level ten. Only once have I ever bought a new hairstyle for my character, and never have I bought new makeup. There are only two models of horses that I have duplicates of, and they're some of the cheapest models available. One of those horses was free. I rarely play the game outside of when it updates, and specifically when an update puts new content into the non-star rider areas. Why? Because despite playing this game for so many years, I've never had the money or willingness to oay almost $90 AUD for lifetime star rider. Even now, I haven't bought star rider since June or July of last year. When I log on outside of updates that I can actually access, I have nothing to do except look at my horses. I have no club, because my last one was disbanded. I'm pretty sure most of my friends have either stopped playing or moved servers. Roleplays are out of the question, since no one is available for long enough to hold a story, or their writing style and mine don't mix, or they're a twelve year old trying to roleplay something inappropriate. I don't have much in the way of artistic skill, so I can't engage in the Instagram artist side of the roleplay community. My server is populated by noobs who only know how to start fights. I have nothing to do, and have had nothing to do for almost five years.

Honestly, I'd be more interested in the Rune Runner if we were able to customize it. Like pick its coat color, or whatnot. But meh. I agree with all the points made in this video. Still triggered at the fact the Jorvik Shillings are capped at 10 thousand with all these other items costing just about that amount. Love your sense of humor. Awesome video.

About the health bar a few years ago it actually had a purpose, if you had enough "dangerous falls" or rode into the purple car or a tractor it would send you to your home stable with a message that said something around the lines of "your horse has been seriously injured but after some care you are able to return home" This resulted in your horse having all the care needs again. You would just have to re-care for your horse. This was around 2017. and i noticed a few years later that it had been completely removed. Also I never remember it having a player use? like your character couldn't be injured. ;D

I've been playing this game for a year and a half, and I've seen all of this. We haven't gotten a main story quest since the thing with Lisa's mom . . . I propose we start a hashtag #wakeupstarstable

End game players... more like dead end? I’ve been playing for 7 years now... I’m done with sso not listening and communicating with their fan base. It’s sad when games not focused on horses, have significantly better horse mechanics than a game based and focused solely on horses. I remember I joined when mistfall was brand new and everyone was so excited and hyped to go there on their brand new frezzys that they obtained at the level of 12. it looked genuinely exciting and I couldn't wait to take part in it. When I finally reached level 12 and unlocked the area it was cool but it just didn't feel like it fit in. I was a bit dissapointed with it..

Just commenting bc I think videos like this actually really help put into perspective how much SSO has started to change just within this last year (2024). I think 2023 was one of the worse years for SSO. People were striking, SSO was removing stuff we liked and adding stuff we hated, not to mention the Christmas star coin fiasco. Well, recently they've started changing and it has been nice. New horses have finally slowed down- turning bimonthly rather than weekly. They're making ways to get around needless roadblocks without paying 75 star coins. They've definitely become more open to criticism than they used to be. And now they've even added to the story (finally!) And just posted a blog saying they're basically going to start trying to make events better and even potentially bring back old events but they didn't give us a frame of time which is great! Cause they'd give us a frame of time and then not meet the deadline! They released nine codes in February, most of them giving free star coins. They have started discounting star rider by a pretty significant amount every now and then, and no! They didn't get rid of double star coin weekend!.. It's all good stuff IMO. They're recognizing outright the game has problems (full on admitting to stuff being a buggy mess, having even decidated an update day to fixing bugs!) And I definitely feel like slowly, but surely, they're starting to pivot back towards consumer interest rather than shareholder and wallet interest. I think it's because they basically crashed their own economy by thinking they were making profits only for it to be a short spike in profits before a huge drought.. And honestly I don't care if that's why they're only just now listening. I just like that they're listening and I really hope they finally learned their lesson.

I have just started playing SSO around 4 days ago, and bought the full time membership. I have to say I definitely have more access to things with it, and I’m already at lvl 5. I’ve been watching Star Stable videos for months now and I admit that it’s not the same. The quests I have to do are all the same, picking stuff up. (mostly flowers) It’s now getting impossible for me to level up, i’ve been “grinding” the whole day for no reason. Clothing and tack is too expensive, and I really don’t wanna waste my star coins because I don’t have enough Shillings. In the old YT videos of SSO, I would see people talking and communicating in the game with other players and making friends. But during my whole 4 days of grinding on the game, the only people i’ve seen are begginers who don’t say a word in the chat. I’m not sure if that’s because less people are starting to play but i’ve never had any social interactions with anyone in the game. I thought that in SSO you would make amazing friends, bond with your horse, and discover wonderful things. All in all, star stable is definitely not what I expected, and I am slightly disappointed. It’s still fun.. but you know what I mean. If your looking to buy a pay-once membership, I’d suggest you spend those $70 on an actual riding lesson.

i've been playing this game for about 6 years now. i'm autistic and i can never stay away from the game for long. i'm fully aware of the issues but i still wanna buy all the magic horses when they come out. idk how to stop tbh. i desperately want more main story, since i love the occasional boss battles. hopefully project curie will be better, but i want to finish the game and we never will when theres more people on their horse team than their quest team. why did i write all this out

I literally grew up with this game and it's ancestors. I played all the Starshine Legacy and Star Stable games, and oh boy, you have no idea how much I love them still to this day. And it makes me so mad and disappointed what they have done to SSO, because I care about it. I really really miss the good ol' days of this game (which is like 2015 and before that), and I would lie if I said it wasn't just because of the nostalgia, but It's extremely sad what SSO has become. Such a waste of potential. I think I realized just how money-grabbing SSO, and other kids games like it (Animal Jam comes to mind) are when I first played Genshin Impact. I was frankly shocked at how generous the game was with its premium in-game currency; a pull on the gacha is 160, and just doing the daily commissions every day, you can earn around 60. That doesn't include quest rewards, web events, normal events, random chests, achievements, etc etc. Practically everything you do in the game is guaranteed to net you at least a few primogems. And the community thought that wasn't enough! I didn't understand it because I'd grown up with games that had given you NOTHING. And, when I think about it, it's really screwed up! Why is Genshin Impact, a GACHA game, more generous with its currency than a game aimed at young girls?

I think the only reason they have a health bar is because I’m the OG CD games you could fall enough where it ran out and you got sent back to the stable. This is a fantastic video riddled with sooo many facts I really wish SSO will change.

Thank you so much for this video. You truly opened up my eyes to what this game really is, when my parents failed to explain it to me. A bit of backstory: When I was younger, I used to watch Violet Flowergarden a lot. I saw how many horses she had and just assumed that was the normal amount. (She had around 130 I believe.) so, from then on, I kept buying the new horses again and again every time they were released, it was almost like an addiction. Actually, I probably was addicted to it, I’m not sure. My parents tried to warn me about spending so much money, but I just ignored them, I guess. I’m pretty sure it was peer-pressure that made me do it, along with wanting to find my ‘soul’ horse that I would really be able to ‘bond’ with, (even though I knew my starter was supposed to be) wanting to be ‘cool’ AND wanting a nice gen 3 warmblood, and I cannot stress that enough. The only reason the Andalusians got the ‘hype’, was because they are pretty-looking warmbloods. If the game JUST added a nice looking warmblood for once, I can confidently say that 90% of players would buy it. (The Andalusians are good but so many people have them that it they got boring. Plus, yes! A lot of us do end up making our own fun. If you want to loan, breed, bond, train skills etc., the only way you can do that, is well, pretending. The game gets really boring because it’s aim is to make you grind till you’re bored to death, then buy a new horse for the thrill. That’s the only thing that’s keeping the game going. If they made more interesting places, more things to do, more variety of tack, like blankets, halters that actually have lead ropes, not restricting tack as much for the oldish generations, (My favourite horse to ride is my Trakhner, Bowo, and I’d really like to have him wear a friesian’s bridle, but oh, no! That would be wayyyy to much work to fit it to all horse breeds, and besidesess, people will want to buy the friesian more if it’s the only one that can wear those bridles.) and an actual bonding mechanism, as you said, then probably less people would end up quitting the game after they reach level 20 or so. Honestly, before I watched this video, I had no idea how much I was being tricked. I owe probably a lot of money to you for this video, as you saved me from buying the horses again and again. (Well, I was starting to realise before the video and hadn’t bought star coins in months, but still.)

At the time I'm writing this comment, 1000 star coins is 30 dollars. 30 dollars for one pixelated horse. This is too much

I love the Fjords! I remember back before I got my first one, I quested a lot to get to Dino because I wanted one so much. They were a really fun motivator through the reputation building and the already exciting factor of unlocking a new area. This is why I was really sad when they said they were removing them. Instead they added their remodeled new version which you can just go and buy in one of the main areas all star riders already have anyway. Just like all their other hundreds of horses, how special and interactive. I really wish atleast a few more horses had things like this, it makes the whole thing more.. Immersive? The process of having to do something (that wasn't the longest grind in the world) to be able to buy the horse and even a little bit of lore sprinkled in was just amazing. 14:12 only one was level 10 when you got it though from what I remember? it also cost 1000 sc instead of the... 750? that the others cost. But I agree other than that!

A few years ago, I spent quite a lot of money on SSO. Being young, and stupid, I promised my father that I would put the money to good use, and continue to play the game because of the money he put into it. I stopped playing around two months after. My largest regret was using $100+ on a game that basically has no development (excluding horses). Especially, when it’s only my father and I; he spends so much time earning money, and I wasted that over a game I forgot four months later - that’s how trashy I feel this game is. Not because of its graphics, story, or horses, but because you forget about the game unless something comes out that peaks your interest, which most of the time, are only new horses.

Ive noticed something that seems to be a problem w games like this that are made specifically for one passion or community (horses, dinosaurs etc) is that they often...arent...like. Fun? They're barely games? Theres very little to do and the devs dont seem interested in making interesting things to do? Meanwhile there are people who play RDR2 specifically for the horse mechanic and i cant help but wonder if its because the people making that game set out to make a Good Game, not just just a Game for Horse People. I mean also obviously theyre a AAA studio with a lot more money. But idk. SSO seems like it exists for profit and keeping itself afloat and thats a shame. But some games feel like theyre focused on being Game with Horses first, Good game second. Instead of being a Good Game that has horses in it.

29:32 Y'know, funnily enough, the health bar USED to actually have a function lol Every time your horse got a dangerous fall, etc. The horse's health bar would go down a bit. Do it enough times and the health bar would deplete completely and you would be sent back to your home stable and all your horse's care icons would be red (so you would need to take care of your horse again). This was removed at some point, and I think it is possible to get the health bar to go down on occasion still?? (It's been a while since I tried so I could be wrong), but the health bar for the most part was rendered useless at some point between 2016-2020

I feel like SSO really put effort in their quests all the way until 2017-2018. Yes, they didn’t have the best animations, best quality and so forth (I mean, look at RDR2 for instance), yet the plots, the tension and the experience from the quests got you HOOKED and wanting to explore and experience more. This entire video was structured so well and brought out the problems with the game I’ve been pondering a lot for the last few years. This was awesome, thank you!

The only thing that might get them to change is probably competition. It's too bad there's not more MMORPG's involving horses. Something that combines Racing, Dressage, Rodeo, Bonding with ones Horse(s), and a breeding element would certainly be nice with fun quests that aren't rehashing older ones... and crafting ones own gear? There's a lot who'd love a game like that but either no developer developing one or even someone with great ideas doesn't have the know how to make their ideas come to life or the funds to pay someone else to make it.

The only reason the horses have a health bar is so that when you run off the bridge behind the diving board/swimarea at Fort Pinta onto the shark that appeasr every now and then, your horse will actually "get hurt/die" and you will be immediately taken back to your stable :)

I remember when i the fjords came out it was H U G E. It was a mistake that SSO got rid of the old models i was lucky enough to get 2.

Also talking about horse bonding, we also have zelda botw that does it better than sso. The animations are better, you need to catch your horse and make it trust you. I have played the game and have felt devastated each tome my horse gets hit or is into danger. Sure there is no danger in sso, but I do love to have bonds and kinda roleplay while playing to make it more fun and less boring.

About the fjords, all you said is true except one thing : there was only one fjord who could be bought at level 10 and it cost almost 1500 sc. It’s just a detail, and the rest of the video is amazing, thanks for all the work❤️ Oh and that’s so cute when you said « the reskinned halloween horse » and it’s actually the horse in the series Mistfall.

What I also hate about the rune runner is that you have to do all that work to get it and it still comes as a level one horse... meaning you have to spend even more days training it up

While i wouldn't call SSO players "Not true gamers", i agree with everything else you said. I had an idea that would make the gameplay a little bit better, but would still generate profit. Types of horses. It's based off what you said for the desert area. Some horses are better at running in the desert, some are better in dino valley, some are better for racing, for dressage, etc.. So many players would buy all the horses and would generate income, but you wouldn't have to pay to get that special ability at all! I also had some more ideas. I know they'll get implemented into the game, but i just wanted to share my two cents on how i would try and make the game better. I wish i could do something about it..

Don’t forget the fact you have to buy in game your starter horse Also we should get like a semi dessert and star stable can have its facy horses there and they could make leopard geckos in the game where you have to befriend them and when you do you can have one as a pet. I think it would be cute and they could have a wild mustang herd where again you can tame one that helps you find the hidden village in the simi desert

At 29:31 we actually used to get hurt with the health bar, your horse included! I was playing the game when it first came out in North America (2012) and if you got hit by the farming machines or the car around Steve's farm your horse's health would go down until a vet would be called and you got transported back to your stable with red care options. The moodlets to feed and groom, etc. deteriorated when you played (yellow first, then orange, then dark red). Then they got reset to yellow when the next day came along for daily care. AND your character could go to the "hospital". If your character stood in front of one of those machines/the car you got a loading screen saying you were badly injured, went to the hospital, and then you respawned at your home stable. That doesn't happen anymore though! The care moodlets don't even pop up anymore either, once you do your daily care that's it. Your horse never gets thirsty/hungry/dirty the longer you play.

another problem recently is they've almost gotten rid of every thing that actually made u travel in sso, I remember when you'd have to take the ferry to get to other islands because it was impossible to drive there, instead they made it so you can drive anywhere now so the ferry is useless and you don't have to travel. The bus to get to the mall so you could shop now you don't need to use that because guess what there's a global shop button, so now shopping with your friends doesn't exist. and omg the balloon to get to south hoof, guess what doesn't matter because you can get in a trailer and somehow get out of a balloon to get there.

this is so off topic but your voice and accent is so soothing to me. you sound like a really smart person :) but on a more related note, star stable is a game that I've wanted to play since i was 8, meaning that this game has been in the back of my mind all the time for 6 years as of now lol. I actually started playing a few weeks ago using a free star rider code and I was so in love with it that I was even thinking about asking my mom to buy me lifetime star rider, but with all the points you've presented in this video I'm starting to have second thoughts. I don't want spend time in a game that doesn't care about what its players think and only cares about profit. :((

If you run into too many walls, fall off cliffs, stuff lick that, the health bar of the horse goes down. As for the player Heath bar, is for certain areas like when you are on foot in a quest. And if the health bar drops to zero; it will send you back to your home stable.

I just found this video and your channel and I Love it ♥️ You speak so much truth! I love sso but, it's getting harder to stay interested in playing since I have done all the quests etc.. I was so disappointed when the main storyline more or less finished after savings Anne. By the time I could do that quest I was so hooked and ready to "save the world". Especially after all the mindless grinding I had done, so I was so sad and disappointed that I wasn't able to go battle the bad guys after all the time and money I had spent (both on my accounts and my daughters). I hope they improve instead of just getting worse. Especially since I'm one of those suckers that feel compelled to buy all the new and limited horses they keep dishing out lol. I'm still hoping for Australian breeds and tack but not holding my breath lol. Thank you for your content. Im looking forward to watching the rest of your videos.

SSO normally just does stuff like in the video where they say “ bonding “ and all of that stuff but the part where it’s a wild horse, I don’t think they really mean what they say. After all, you can buy them, and there’s no struggle. It’s just a normal horse in the game. I really feel like SSO needs to make things more reliable than to what they say now.

I can't believe I recognised this game as connected to Starshine Legacy ONLY from seeing the character in the trailer at the beginning 💀 I was never into horses, but my step sister was and she got Starshine with some magazine subscription. She wasn't much of a gamer and I had to help her with a lot of the races, and I ended up LOVING the somewhat edgy atmosphere of the game and bought all the parts second-hand. Also there were cute boys. And I think I had a crush on Alex too... anyway, I had no idea that franchise ever went anywhere!!

You help the community with their choices, and if anyone really wants to spend THAT MUCH money on a VERY overpriced game? It’s amazing. Big lecture coming up: I remember first playing SSO when I was young, back in 2015. Every single girl in my class was telling me about it, and me being the computer geek back then, HAD to play it of course. So I did, with everyone from my class, we'd call on the phone of our parent, or confince them to install Skype for us. The game was so much fun, every week there was a big exciting new update. The year would start of with a big party from the New Year's update. It wasn't even gone for a few weeks, or the Valentines update was already here, with a bunch of exciting items and gear for you to get. It would stay for atleast 2 weeks, and you'd enjoy every second of it.. atleast.. little ol me did. Then, it would be April 1st, and Easter. You'd transform your horse into this wacky color explosion at steve, with a magical rabbit. While going golden egg hunting with your friend all over Jorvik, you'd show each other the cool new stuff you'd get from the egg. It was so much fun to see when the wednesday would come around, everybody in the game was excited for this amazing new update. And everyone would be more hyped up, when we got that 5 second teaser for a new horse, while it was still weeks away, leaving you more excited and curious to what breed it could be. For example: The English Thoroughbred passing through a bush in Epona. Or the Shire horse rearing, hearing a loud bang on the ground as it came back down, for being such a giant, and we only saw the front hooves. It would be so amazing to see a new horse, because it would take about 2 or 3 months of waiting so see a new breed appear! Those were the golden SSO days in my opinion. Now, they throw a horse in your face every 2 weeks, if it ain't sooner then that. Old events, like April fools, Easter hunting, Valentines day, Halloween ghosts, helping Santa with present in Jarlaheim, Midsummer, Rainbow gold hunting with a dwarf or something, and so so much more..! Is just gone, they even admitted to it all. Last week too, Rainbow festival comes around the corner, it isn't in the game yet for an hour and already they are sniffing out your wallet to see if you want that sweet ol 2000 SC plus this one rainbow set for $40. Every event, horse, gear, item, whatever it is, its milked dry untill it doesnt produce money anymore. Of course, when you are a kid, it seemed so much more amazing, and when you mature, you realise what's happening to a game and why they do it. But sso does it in such a sad way.. I grew up with the game, but have only seen it grow to greed instead of amazing improvement. Yeah sure, the animations and textures are.. pretty good compared to 2011. But still.. The focus is fully on the horse. Would be fun if they took some insperation from RDR2, al though that is an $80 million game, in the works for 8 years, SSO wouldnt do bad at taking a peek there. As someone who played starstable for 7-8 years, there has been SOO much potential that they skipped because of money. First off, when I started playing at a young age. I was a rider irl so I expected a free horse game that would be similar to irl riding. I will make this a like list with explaination. * Falling off - This has been my most requested thing of all times playing starstable, they could save things if they added falling off because then they would add volume and not pointlessly riding around being the most stable individual in the entire universe. * Different riding styles - Western and english riding is 2 different styles sure, but have you ever thought of adding horse racing? As someone who loves to watch horse racing and trot competitions it would be super fun to see ingame because it's just speed (AND MAKING IT LOOK LIKE ITS HORSE RACING AS WELL AND NOT SITTING DEEP INTO THE SADDLE WHEN GALOPPING), like adding somewhere close to a city just a big racing track and competing against other players like 2 laps for a little higher price money would be super fun to see. * Horse personalities - Do I really need to explain this? * Your oc's character development - As someone 'til this day still wonders why the players begin riding in Moorland and develop out from there, like as far as I can remember you don't have a backstory at all. Like for an example, genshin impact, one of my most played games, has the story of the 2 siblings travelling from world to world but gets stopped by a god when entering teyvat and they lose their sibling and they have to search for the sibling to continue the journey between worlds. * The graphics - I don't wanna talk about this one but I need to. Some places in the game has little to no graphics at all, some have just pngs pasted onto the model and just left there. I know they're tryna make it run as good as possible but like, it sometimes look super ugly on some places. Latest time I checked they're barely any lightning in the game, like what the fuck. That was just surface levels of my suggestions, thanks for reading.

This really shows how far Star Stable has come, but also how far they've fallen.. I remember waking up being excited about it being Wednesday and going to check the News, but now.. what's the point when it's just gonna be another horse taking the spotlight.

just watched some of your channel's videos for the first time after seeing your recent upload about sso revoking the lifetime gift they gave to you. you put so many of my frustrations with this game into words in a very mature and detailed way. having been a fan of sse and their games since childhood, i love sso and will probably never truly stop playing, but the game is flawed and its hard to watch this company dig themselves into deeper and deeper holes. so many quests and mechanics are shells of what they truly could be. newly released quests can be finished in under an hour, horses are literally just cosmetic items, and new areas are released but nothing is ever added to make them special in any way. i remember when wildwoods was coming out a lot of people were hoping some sort of wild-horse-befriending/bonding mechanic would follow. i truly cannot find a reason in my mind why sso couldnt add this or some other mechanic, besides for pure laziness. i would be happy to still pay starcoins or whatever for a horse at the end of such a task, as long as the process was different somehow. on a similar note, the area that's always bugged me the most in terms of laziness and wasted potential will ALWAYS be south hoof/the rescue ranch. we got ONE foal to rehabilitate, teasing a somewhat new process that could open up so so many doors for this game. in this video you were talking about the health bars and why they even exist... imagine if taking dangerous falls or damage from the shadow seekers actually did permanent damage to your horse's health. when they reached zero, it would make sense that they couldnt be ridden any longer, right? what if, to heal your horse back to ridable status, you had to board them at the rescue ranch and help them heal over time? i would absolutely eat up daily quests if they were like that. something, anything, to make the area have purpose and to, like you said, have our horses feel like real, living animals. right now i have about as much attatchment to mine as i would if they were just bikes. lmao idk, this turned into a vent and probably doesnt make much sense, but its so nice to find other people who dont hate the game and can see the potential it has, but also arent afraid to speak up about their frustrations and dissapointments. i wish sso would listen. this game could be so much more than it is.

Finally some says the things that need to be adressed. I enjoy SSO, but all those repetitive quest and the lack of story quests is unforgiving for their prices. Also can we just take a moment to talk about the fact that the characters of RDR2, outlaws who kill and rob banks, take better care of their horses?

Not to mention, if you don't know what a word in a quest is it can really throw you off and you'll end up on a wild goose chase, mainly when there are no videos doing the quests on youtube, since they have changed the starting quests a lot over the years..

Cool fact about red dead redemption when doing the animations for the horse and rider they used those green white ball things to capture the movement of A REAL HORSE in action Now that’s so real realistic animations right there! 😮

I've been playing sso for almost 8 years by now and honestly it's tiring. I want to love the game the same way I did when i first played through the quests but there's absolutely nothing to do for me other than to buy horses and train them, and for what purpose? About a year ago I started a second account to play through the story again, and honestly they've changed so much it wasn't near as nostalgic as i thought it would be. Some of the quests have just gone bad too because of changes in the actual game but not updating the dialouge (Elizabeth was still talking about the sun circle training even when it hasn't been in the game for ages) and while i appreciated that they removed that as it actually let me play through quite a big chunk of the main story without having to pay for more than a month of starrider, having to read about it in the quest dialouge as if it was something I was actually doing really threw me off. Similar thing happened a little bit later in the story when the pandoric rifts started appearing, and the other reputation you have to do with the lightning circle. And honestly, with how long time passes between each time we get updates to the main story, I have already completely forgotten what happened in the last quest we got, and playing on a second account really put that into perspective since there were quests i had completely forgotten we even got to do in the main story, among the more "recent" quests. (I remember there being a gap of a year or two from getting real main story quests after we got to save Lisa and then help her return the favor to the tree, so really anything after those quest counts as recent to me as those were the last quests i got to do before i caught up to the story on my main account, even if the quest technically came out like 5 years ago) There's just so much potential for this game but they waste it all on new horses, each one prettier than the last, while adding absolutely nothing to gameplay and I just want to enjoy playing sso again like i did that first summer when I first became a starrider and spent the entire break at my computer playing sso and loving every second of it. I remember the updates were tiny even then but honestly, the company was absolutely tiny too compared to now (though they're technically still a small company) so it was more "acceptable" ig that the updates were small. atleast the bigger updates were actually one finished update back then and not just an area and then in the following updates adding more quests and races and all. I remember the disappointment I felt last year when they released the starshine ranch, and other than a few races, there was nothing to do and the quests with Lisa were added much later. I logged on that day and hoped it would be something more like the rescue ranch on south hoof but then I got there and it was all already finished and the only quest you got was just to have a short dialouge with Josh. I'm sorry this is so long but I just needed to rant for a bit because I'm really disappointed in sso.

15:07 This reminds me so much of the time 5 years ago that i would come on everyday to do all my quest in the hope that i would unlock to get an Icelandic horse and it meant the world to me when i could finally buy one

I pretty much stopped playing SSO at this point. I kept my account because I bought Lifetime Starrider years ago, and sometimes when I have enough starcoins I buy a horse, but I never buy starcoins anymore. (Which means I usually have to wait 10 weeks to have enough starcoins for one horse)

Amazing video. Wish SSO would listen... I am long time player. I played all the seasonal games (winter riders, spring riders etc). before. I have to say that those games are 10+ years old and still have some better mechanics. Caring system. You couldn't run at full speed through entire map (now even without pressing W) because your horse would get tired. You could feed your horse different types of food and it would boost it's stats for a while (different food, different stats). The stats mattered, different horse, different stats and you actually noticed that. When you leveled up, you could add skill points to your stats and well, it made some difference. Spring riders actually had some kind of dressage. It was similar to soul riding precision riding. Nothing extra but still. When show jumping, you got penalized . At night, the NPCS would dissapear (go to sleep, no one was outside) and it was so dark you couldn't even see so you had to go to sleep too and it was new day. Like I said, nothing extra but those games were more interesting than SSO. In some ways of course. And they are 10+ years old. I understand I am not SSO target audience. But this game is half assed. It had huge potential, but they are too lazy to do something extra. Their advertisment says-game full of adventures. But the adventure is over pretty quickly and your only adventure left is saving JS for clothes+tack (good luck) and saving SC for new horses or/and clothes+tack (good luck again). Horse island was removed-why? I know, stable care is expensive and I believe there are players who are paying for this. Racing system should be upgraded. I wonder why are they "punishing" players who started playing later by not allowing them to get to "max" level. Good luck competing againist level 24 at Championships while you are stuck at level 20 or lower. There should be a way to catch up somehow. Add atleast some kind of dressage-better than nothing and cross country everywhere. Make some use of stats and breeds-make them matter (I mean friesan isn't horse for racing, american paint horse isn't horse for dressage etc). Let us earn atleast few SC by doing daily quest-reduce amount of those quests to like 3 per area and reward us with atleast 20 SC. Or do this with the whole helping stable thing (feeding horses at certain stable etc.) It's not alot but better than nothing. Or do some horses for JS-atleast one colour of one breed for JS and release some "premium" skins for SC. Quests should be more interesting too-like you said, you don't even need brain-collect this, collect that..And there should be more of them. This game is 10 years old and you can finish the main quests in few weeks and so the game "ends" for you. Don't get me started on reputation quests. This game is beautiful, those horses are beautiful, scenery is stunning, huge potential. If only their management cared.

i will never forget when i bought lifetime star rider when i was like 12. and then years later, i tried to play again (maybe at 15-16) and they took my LIFETIME away. i had to bother them over and over, with them saying ‘no, you never bought lifetime!’ until i had finally found the proof that i had star rider, they would give it back. why was it gone in the first place?!?

Hi I was thinking about the same thing yesterday and came across your video I was also comparing the horse bonding and mechanics from RDR2 with Star Stable. In fact, in RDR, your horse gets frightened by running animals or loud noises, and you can actually SEE and FEEL your horse’s frustration, so automatically, you pet it or praise it to calm it down. I absolutely love the way Arthur praises the horse he’s riding. Why can’t SSO hire voice actors and add the same functions into their game ? It would make it much more realistic. The problem is that games that don’t focus on horse riding like RDR2 have better and more realistic horse mechanics than an actual horse game. Why can’t I tie my horse to a barrier? Why can’t I pick my whole gear and manually put it to another horse instead of putting everything to my inventory ? SSO lacks of realness.
