Ikr. There's so many horses how is everyone suppose to catch up? Also, the horses can be In ANY place. Ppl might not find horses bc of it and they should have a section with horses only bc it's not orgainized.
It actually feels like they are trying to catch up. I remember they had only introduced the ponies (in maybe 2014-2015?) and they would introduce the horses less often than whatever it had become. There is this thing called Choice Overload and it speaks for itself: the more choices you have, the worse it gets and frustrated we get😂
I am so tired of them saying that players are the problem and that we must be patient etc... It's been almost 2 years since we had an interesting content. It is just so sad. They totally ignore us and that is so much hurtful
Yeah this comment is understandable but, what I want to say is. That it would take along time for them to fix all the glitches and issues. Yes it’s been 2 years maybe even more. But still. It’s hard to try and fix everything and the money. But yeah
I physically uninstalled SSO a few days ago, just to get some distance from it, and then this bombshell fell. I won't be installing for a while - just need to get away from the constant stream of disappointment.
@@YTRattle Yeah, it's been really annoying how Star Stable says they listened to our feedback and then takes none of it into consideration to make better gameplay. It's just horses, horses, horses, and there won't be an end to it. Like Denis said in his video that Star Stable will die in a couple of years if there is no changes. @@YTRattle I remember in 2014 when I started playing SSO and it was magical. Everything was new and exciting and I got pretty engaged in the story. The horses' models were old but I still enjoyed them. There were exciting updates bi-weekly so one week it was exciting, next week a bit less exciting, and so on. There was a lot more to do. There was also less horse releases. We got a horse maybe every two months and they weren't pushing out unfinished horses. Now, it's just horses everywhere. They don't seem to care if it's finished or not, they just want the revenue. And the fact that people still defend SSO saying things like, "They need to make money!" "You should be grateful!" "The horses are beautiful, if you don't like the game stop playing!" It just boggles me because like you said in one of your older videos, they make over one million every horse release because the kids that play can't resist themselves and ask for Star Coins. It's also very disappointing how people still defend Star Stable despite the "gameplay" they're giving us. I love Star Stable but it's really repetitive and people don't seem to realize that or they do realize it but they continue to defend Star Stable.
I actually took a 2 year break from SSO purely because it became boring. Sure, I had a ton of quests but none of them were fun at all compared to the ones I was able to do back in 2015-2017 etc. About a month ago I decided to start playing again and goddamn it's so dissapointing. I managed to do every single quest, daily and race in 1 day. It wasn't fun, I was extremely bored and dissapointed. Kind of sad tbh

I can confirm that yes, Sweden never had a "real" lock down, they just told us "please stay home- if you can" so of course everyone went to work the next day.....
Some companies, especially in tighter areas like Stockholm, did hit hard though. There were a lot of companies who just vanished and people lost their Jobs, some doesnt have the access to work from home either. The SSO team is a small team, they had to work from home. A game developement company is way harder to function from home as some of them May not have the equipment needed. They will also lack communication which is key with developement teams. Please try to understand that just because our schools arent closed doesnt mean that companies have it easy.
@@maritalarsson8067 I work in this industry, and there are free softwares you can use to work remotly from home, star stable shouldn't be struggling anywhere as close as other companies hit by pandemic, they are doing fine financally too. Of course there was an adjustment period but they are doing fine.
This whole situation makes me wanna cry tbh :/ I've been playing this game since 2011 and it is a big part of my childhood, I have so many great memories and I still love the game dearly... I don't want to see it go to waste over money, greed, or just plain stupidity.
Same here. I love starstable and i realy don`t wont to let i go. It is a so fantastic game and was everything to Me as a child. Starstable was the only game i playd whit a bad ass girl as it’s lead and now they are throwing it all away. ( i am sorry for my speling)
I left from sso when the area update came (yea, I have played this game since 2014) because I felt like all the memories were gone. I felt really bad bc sso was so good game with so many quests and things to do, but then I felt everything were gone and I feel like they’re updating things that are useless, like that caring thing :/ I think it was as good before. And the winter, yea it was and then it was gone. And the old sso with different craphics (yea I know they wasn’t so good, but anyways) was more realistic, and I felt like I was living inside the game :) Oh no I have so many things to say but I’m tired of writing and my English is not so good :/
Feel the exact same, I used to tell my mom about all the stories when I was little, she brought the game up in the car a few days ago. I almost cried over the situation since it was a huge part of my childhood, especially since I had and still have an obsession with horses. :(
In a weird way I kinda hope it is. I deleted sso from my computer about a year ago. Not planning on re-installing it. I tried to play as long as I can, but I’m so tired of the whole thing that i actually do hope they start to fall, because then they actually need to try. All I know is when Astride releases I am not looking back. Good luck StarStable but I’m not listening to their BS anymore
As a player of SSO for 8 years, it’s kinda sad to see what SSO has become. I just miss the good old days where the quests were actually interesting, new horses would be coming out every few months, etc. Now- it’s basically about horses and only horses..
exactly! i remember when stuff like this took months to come out. the story quests were spread out too, but they were brilliant and fun to play! i got hooked and bought star rider. they aren’t realizing that a captivating storyline also makes people want to buy, all they see is the horses. there are so many old players left in the dust because they actually have good feedback that could make sso better…
the fact that they keep blatantly lying to us is what gets me going more than anything (not that they don't do a good job at it with their lack of good updates, quests or anything that improves or even maintains the existing gameplay, but I digress). they keep trying to appear cooperative and oh so considerate, asking for our feedback and replying to our messages and telling us how well they 'hear' us, not to mention stretching out new area releases and recycling races making them seem utterly desperate with their weekly updates at this point. I would love for them to give us fewer updates just so long as they give us something of quality! I always find myself getting so excited for the next update, already knowing its going to be a new horse but I can't help but hold out hope that they'll give us something else with it, but all we end up with are empty, shiny promises. the way they've extended releasing wildwoods makes me wonder how long they're going to make us wait for the character updates they promised us months earlier, and if that's the only thing with any worth or value they've actually got in store for 2021.
Everything you say here x10. It's not that we don't want to love SSO, it's not that we don't want horses, but it's this constant "dangle the carrot in front of us" mentality that is getting to me. If they actually listened, and cared, about what we said, the game would be amazing.
@@katecatbear7785 oh wow, this is my main issue - along with the housing/furniture they promised years ago (I haven't played recently / just keep tab on the news). If I recall they even gave us placeholder/teaser furniture pieces as well as that 'coming soon' furniture store (if my memory is correct) But the character model... that is actually the main thing discouraging me from logging in. I feel it should be just as important as the horse models, and is such a simple thing to change. It just looks so ridiculous now!
@@musicalalchemy2763 I believe we recently got a guarantee on a player model update coming, but it could be another year or two before it actually comes out, if it ever does. Also, I just heard this in passing from my friend, who didn't remember where they confirmed it, so it's iffy news.
As a business administrator, you nailed this topic right on the head. A company needs to make revenue to succeed but listening and caring for the customer is mandatory in any business for it to continue to succeed and make the necessary revenue to thrive as a business. Star Stable is a company at the end of the day and therefore they will continue to fail if their customers are not happy. It's not the business itself that succeeds it's the customers that make the business succeed. No customers no business! Make your product better listen to the customer make them happy or you will go under!
As someone working in the industry - no, they are at the point they don't have to listen to their users at all. The game won't die out any time soon, they can fully focus on profit. Yeah many users will lsave but they always come back. If you leave now I'm pretty sure you will come back in around 3 years. They don't need to worry about that, and the faster they finish the main story the faster they leave permanently the game's users. Though I've always been very surprised because I've been playing this game because of the main story and there were always very little people obsessed about it as I was. Even now when im searching for new theories or some topics I cant find anything. So it seems like sso hits the most beneficial point for them and for the majority of their users. I assume if you looked at the statistics it would all lead to the same point so eventually it can make sense that we are where we are

My pick is, they don’t want to continue or ever finish the story. Their updating/content release system is what keeps bringing people back. I don’t know of many games that haven’t atleast finished their main storyline on release. I think it’s their business model to keep people hanging on for content for as long as they can, making people check the updates every Wednesday so it stays alive. And why not release some cute horses that you can buy while you wait for the story to continue 🙈
I have the same opinion! I think they simply don't know how to continue the story, so they just decided to end it without actually saying they're ending it. At least this is how it seems to me :/.
if they really don't have time/resources for substantial weekly updates, why don't they do them every two/three weeks instead of one? i wouldn't mind the wait, especially if it meant actual content! i really hope sso can get their sh!t together, cause even though i haven't played in a while it really means a lot to me

If we look at what SSO is doing now with their updates there's a lot of tiny races and a few quests and a horse and that's it... So now, every two or three weeks we could maybe have - a new horse (not every update) - new tack and clothes - a few quests, like main quests - a race - an event (Midsummer, rainbow festival, Christmas, Easter etc.) - a new feature / improving gameplay

I'm not really defending SSO here but I need to clear up this misconception; The behind the scenes footage of the Friesian wasn't them asking for critique. And that because the model and the horse were already fully done at that point. I'm not a game designer (nor do I work for SSO) but I have done 3D modeling + animation and I know how a bit more insight on this stuff. You see the post of the Friesian model in grayscale was posted 4 weeks before the release of the horse- And the animations take about 2 to 3 months to make for each horse (there's a video on SSO RU-vid with behind the scenes of the Marwari horse and the 3D modeler mentions that it takes couple weeks or more to texture the horse, bit less to color aka make the coats and 2 to 3 months to do the animations.) This means that they cannot change the actual model of the horse after doing the animations, because the animation rig wouldn't fit on the horse anymore. The only thing they can really improve at that point is the coat color or paint more detail on the coat. Even something as small as an eye placement or a muzzle shape can't be changed because they are both animated. Think of it as a building a house, you can't change the base of the house without having to take down the whole thing and start over. Not even talking about the fact that game updates are done way before hand, aka The Friesian horse was finished month or couple months before it's release so. God knows how old the greyscale screenshot was at that point. This is just to not overwork the employees before a deadline or if something were to go wrong we wouldn't be left without and update on Wednesday. For example if they decide to release a horse on December, all the work for that horse has to be done in November or even sooner. So why did they post behind the scenes stuff? I don't know. It's something that I can't get behind, because ofc everyone was going to assume that they could change the horse still and obviously the community was going to get angry with them not actually changing the horse. Like who in their right mind thought showing behind the scenes footage was a good idea? It wasn't going to end well. Then again it does come down to SSO just not telling their players anything. A lot of other games explain to their players this kind of stuff and clear up misconceptions, but SSO's social media ''team'' is just either just bad or overly controlled (which is more likely the case) as to how much they can tell us. It was mentioned couple times on the old employee reviews as well that the head management team is just awful, and need to be replaced and I totally agree with that. And it is the head management team who also decides what updates to do. So it is just one bad choice after another. And it has gotten so much worse through these years. I read on a newspage that SSO did get a quite significant investment in 2018: ''The Danish entertainment company, which invests in Nordic game studios, now has a 40% ownership stake in Star Stable Entertainment. Nordisk Film, a massive entertainment company based in Copenhagen, Denmark, announced today that it has acquired more shares in Star Stable Entertainment, bringing its ownership up to 40%.17th Dec 2018'' This was around the time the quality of horses went up significantly as well so it makes sense. ''Nordic media outfit Nordisk Film has invested €15 million ($17.9 million) into Swedish studio Star Stable Entertainment in exchange for a "substantial" minority stake. '' God knows who even owns this company anymore and who really is calling the shots over this game's management and updates. But this is how it usually goes, a company gets sold for co-owner ship so their quality of work improves because there's more money invested, but after a while it does end up hurting the game severely in other areas. The same thing happened to a popular Moba League of legends where: ''In 2011, Tencent paid $400 million for a 93% stake in Los Angeles-based Riot Games, the studio behind League of Legends, the No. 1 game on PCs. Four years later, it scooped up the rest.17th Sep 2020'' And now in 2021 the game is going severely downhill and is only a money making machine. But unlike league SSO is targeting children so it's just that much worse.
Hey! Thanks for this epic comment! I agree with most of your points (just one I don't XD), SSO's media team is terrible and their management is even worse. IDK why they make these decisions, but it, unfortunately, hurts their game in the long run. In regards to the greyscale, thank you so much for giving me (and I'm sure a lot of others) context in how that works. It would make sense that it could take 3-4 months to finish a horse, which is why I believe they should only bring out horses every quarter to give themselves time to make a decent model with good animations. I have the suspicion that with some of their models they cut corners (by duplicating animations for example) which overall makes for a not-so-good-looking horse. This I believe can be seen with the Finn which has a large number of animation problems, so I believe it was rushed. However (this is the only point I don't agree with lol!), they DID ask for feedback. Here is a quote from the earlier grey-scale model. They actually posted 2 for the fresian: "We would like to tell our Community, that from now on we will be sharing early WIP/BTS and sneak peeks from horses. So you guys can see and share feedback on our early stages of production. How does that sound?" This one in particular was posted around 8 weeks before they released it (23d of Oct and horse was released on 16th December). Perhaps there was still time to fix some stuff? IDK you'll have to take that one :) But from what you said, It frustrates me that they open this door for feedback, but they're not open to explain that, no we won't be using your feedback. Mofo. In regards to the Gotland pony, the original greyscale was posted on the 7th of January with the release coming out on the 3d of Feb. So in that case they gave even LESS time for any change! It makes my blood boil! I love your comment!
If I remember correctly the friesian WIP was shown to us because SSO wanted to engage players in the horse-making proccess (and said so themselves!!!). SSO TOLD US they want to hear our feedback! Which is mind boggling considering the horse was probably already finished at this point.
As an almost graduated game designer I fully agree with The 3D statement! You hit The nail on The head and thank you for explaining that as it is insider knowledge and probably not alot of players are aware of that process (: The thing SSO should not have done is asking for feedback for The Fresian giving players a leg then pulling it back they already knew they wouldnt change a thing (had they reworded it as heres a sneak peak, it is already in production no feedback needed) wich sound very rude but it is The truth. They might have mitigated that whole situation. Its Nice that they want to include players but they were not going about it wisely in that instance.

I only took a college course on 3D many years back so I am an amateur in every sense of the word, but I'm still glad to hear that my explanation was somewhat good ^^ I did actually go read the post on their instagram before writing my comment here and didn't find anything else besides: ''what coat colors would you guys like'' which still sounds like a bait more than anything. But literally no one complained about the coats, only the model :') If they did however mislead the players then I really don't know.. It's like they were asking for drama? I still remember seeing the greyscale model and literally inhaling my coffee because I knew shit was about to go down. But tbf I don't think there is a way to include players in their horse making 100%. Because then they'd have to spoil every horse like 4 months before hand and by then the hype around a new horse would die out. Not even mentioning the fact that they probably are working on multiple horses simultaneously because they take so long to make. And that explains why the animation and art style (on the model and the texture) does vary between the horses quite a bit. The closest SSO can get to player feedback would be coat colors, Like the jorvik pony on that one live stream couple years back- But then again a lot of players just want to have so much done to the model itself and rarely complain about the coats as a main issue so xD I guess if you can't win then don't play, and SSO is doing just that. No more behind the scenes footage sadly. I personally love seeing the 3D model in progress, but not to change anything, just watch the masters/artists at their craft.

I hope making money and providing The player a good gaming experience can have a marriage at some point, but i dont know how for now. Doubt The game Will have any substancial improvements until The beginning of 2022 but thats just me. (my disorganized opinion here) They would probably benefit from monthly updates, to keep The interest up and produce more substancial updates, they should crank out more substancial content and try to regain their trust with The players that i guess is very tarnished at this point? Yeah the paint horses, Oldenburgers, haflingers, appaloosa's, Hanoverians, the Selle Francais and a lot of other horses still don't have a gen 3 version (the Oldenburgers and the Selle Francais don't even have a gen 2 version...)

I grew up with SSO, it was a huge part of my teenage years! I started playing it in 2012 and sort of grew out of it in 2018, but started again recently just before Christmas when being away at university made me really miss horses. I played OBSESSIVELY every single day for a few months to catch up and complete the main story quests, but after those ran out, I quickly stopped playing. Now I just log in to see if a new horse is worth it and immediately log out after buying it, or deciding I don't want it. I feel like new, probably younger, players are being catered for over us older players because they still have the main quest to keep them busy, and I know in their shoes I would have been ecstatic to see so many new horses. But now it seems bland because there's nothing to do WITH the new horses, except ride round in circles, do a few races, take a few photos and then what? I tried so hard to keep interest in the game but I haven't played at all in 2 months now and honestly feel no desire to go back which really saddens me, as I love this game SO much but feel the core heart of SSO and the world of Jorvik is slowly dying out.
Star Stable has been going so fast at making horses for the game that they forgot things. They copy some of the animations from other horses. Star Stable needs to steep up there game and see what we want. You are so right about everything.

i can kinda understand why some horses have copied over animations. as i've seen another person put it: not all horses are extremely different. gaits often look similar if not the same even in real life. so while i understand the copy over (the knabstrupper being the worst offender of literally just being an andy), i do still agree. it's insane how fast they're trying to get money
I was reporting sooo many bugs in game and on horses and they NEVER fixed it! Into 2020 I was hoping that they are trying they best, but it changed in half of the 2020. I'm playing this game since 2013 after they released 1st generation of Friesan horses. The game in those times was sooo much productive in gameplay way. I'm so disappointed that they started to be hungry only for money. It's so hella sad. The whole support team is now just non-human being - meaning that there's probably autobot answering system. Another thing which I personaly don't like is the fact that they are talking to all of us like to kids and they probably don't know the fact that more like 45% of their players are teens or adult players as same as me being 20.yo in these days. Oh damn! I can't believe you've been struggling that long! That is just insane! I wish I'd remembered the "treat us like kids" problem, that is something I've noticed a lot and it drives me NUTS. We're not kids, heck some of the players are over 25! It's the only horse game in town, so anyone with a passion for horses will most likely end up here. Yep I'm a patient old player and I love this game since I've started my andventure in it and I'm really really upset with the fact that they are trying to bury this game alive. I think they have only one year to start doing something with issues that are negatively effecting game. If they will not realise where is the actual problem they will end this game. Also I don't get the thing WHY ARE THEY MAKING ANOTHER GAME, if they are not able to keep SSO in the mark of quality game and not quantity. It's just so BRUH. New horses are not done well. They are not finished. I bought the newest horse the Finnhorse and after like 5.minutes with photomode I found more than ten bugs or not finished things. Yeah they said: "We will fix it.". But to be honest I don't think they are checking their projects before they release it, so why the have game testers? XD
Oh god there are so many glitches with some of the horses it's unreal - Lusitanos have glitching manes and hooves and legs (when they jump) for a few MONTHS now - Runerunner's manes are glitchy - Jorvik warmblood legs break when they jump - The tail of the Jorvik Wild is a bit weird... IDK it's wrong - The human glitches when they jump with a gen 1.5 horse. - The saddles on Clydesdale's look weird for some reason, the player doesn't really fit for some reason Shall I continue lol And OH MY GOD now all the Gen 2 horses move weird, what are you smoking sso?!
I imagine the "we will share this with the team" was truthful but the team/higher-ups simply wouldn't listen to their employees, as suggested by the employee reviews of the company
I literally joined for the quests. I stopped for two years because there were no quests for me to do. Also. Why should I have to go search for so many of Catherine’s memories just to try and further the storyline. I honestly don’t even think they’re going to continue it anytime soon. I literally just logged on recently to check out Wildwood but that’s it. I finished the quests and now I’m bored again.
The two teams argument has never made sense to me, it means that sso is admitting that they prioritise horses... SSO is a company they decide who and how many people they employ, as well as what their role is... if sso truly cared about quests and quality of life updates, it would be reflected in the teams(with the questing one being larger)! It’s just excuse after excuse... we’re all sick of ‘filler’ updates!
SSE currently have just under 200 employees. The fact that they say they have just two teams is astonishing to me. Its been said by Stacy (the Product Owner for the horse team) that they have their base horse team and then a bunch of other employees that pick and choose which horses they want to work on. Which makes me think they there's sometimes 30+ employees working on one model. I honestly think they have more than just two teams. There has to be three to four as you'd need a team for Map/Terrain/environment. Quests/NPC's. Horses/Tack/Clothing. And then your actual coding team covering all of the three. If the quest team also do environment stuff ect. That's really just fucked and is wayyy to much for one team that has maybe 30 employees focusing on it. That is assuming that there is at least that number. Its no wonder that team would take so long to spit out quests
well it is a horse game and their employees need money not 2 mention it's difficult 2 come up with new content, u just have to be patient with them. i've been playing for years and i can see both sides for the community and star stable. instead of everyone complaining we should GIVE star stable multiple ideas for them to look at.

And it all ended up being a lie. It was eventually revealed that in reality they don't have seperate horse and quest teams, instead it indeed is the same people working on both.
When I saw "SSO's response" I was like "You're not telling me they have actually addressed any of the issues?", but it was just comment replies. 😂 They really should communicate better and make official statements instead of replying to comments on social media.
I know! They really should be more open and willing to accept that they make mistakes, we in turn would be more willing to listen and be understanding. But they play everything so close to the chest, it's almost like they're ashamed of their game.
They did make a formal statement on their website but it’s really hard to find. It’s all bluff until the last few sentences where they say the same shit they said in those comments. Just with more eloquence.

Thank you for making such a detailed video. Can't wait to see it shared under every SSO twitter post, it certainly deserves the spot of fame! I think the biggest proof of SSO's changing goal is the skin switch option- the shyness was an important part of the magical horses, and altrough I recognize people wanted it, by doing this SSO shot their lore in the foot, not even giving the players option to keep it the old way unless we want to switch it manually,, Ah well, may this bring us better times. Btw, you have a really beautiful voice. Hearing a familiar accent makes me happy. :D

No other SSO RU-vidr could have made a more comprehensive, insightful and critically informative video like this one! I hope this video gets spread around as much as possible because SSO seeing this is one thing, but the community could use a dose of reality here and there too. Not saying it's a bad community (most of the time), but when many are not informed or even refuse to be informed, then it becomes a problem. I've started playing in 2019 and I'm really sad that the game has started to go down this road, as it's such a beautiful game with potential. I played this game since 2015... I still play it, but it's so tiresome. I just play it because I don't really have that much to do in my free time. The storyline was definitely my favorite part of the game, but I also loved the events like Christmas and Valentine. Fortuna and Halloween are my favorite events in the game... I'm really upset that they skipped Fortuna and Valentine. #listenSSO
This is getting out of hand, as they’ve dropped the saint patriks day, Easter and other important days. I’m afraid that they’ll drop the rainbow festival for June. Which is very frustrating and sad, as the festival is very important to people of the community. And it would be a down step for sso.

Here is something else I want sso to add being available to "rebirth" or start again with sso…but just keep your horses otherwise that would be annoying and even though they would let us keep our horses they could make them level one. Then it's fair.

I actually believe it goes far deeper computing issues than just ordering new pc's . It think it has more to do with the "pipeline" of their process of game design. I think due to SSO having to rely on their old engine introducing new game design and features that actually focus on interaction and gameplay rather then cosmetic (horses & tack) seem to be harder (which i take from the previous updates, since sso only added so few of them over all these years) The lack of Seniors in deir Dev teams lead me to think that nobody really "knows" how to efficiently work Star stable and the Glassdoor comments make it seem like its not even encouraged by SSo to find out (which normally would be either pay raises or going up the career ladder, which sso both doesnt do apperently) There are soo many ways for sso to increase revenue and diversify as a company to grow and spread but they really barely take any opportunities. Which is unfortunate but i hope a competitor comes along at some point to take over the valuable position sso is in. They are sitting on a gold mine and they arent even aware.
I also agree with you about other games! Rival Stars is gaining traction in the horse world , specially with the new update coming out that will allow players to jump their horse. I also think the upcoming Equestrian the Game will take the lead on equestrian gaming. Specially since it’s going to be free to play
Love this channel and this is yet another amazing video highlighting what sso has done wrong. I am honestly terrified that the game is going to die. Star Stable is the game that I played throughout my childhood. I still can’t believe they said that they thought we wanted more horses when we were literally saying NO MORE HORSES. I hate the argument,”We have different teams for quests and horses.”. It’s rubbish. We want story quests. It feels like they are spending all of their money on things like the books, mistfall (the animated series), new games, star stable on mobile devices. I’m losing trust in the team. They always say oh the team will get this feedback but they never do. If they do get the feedback, it’s not acted on. We don’t even get holiday quests anymore like for valentines Saint Patrick’s or April fools. And they use all these excuses of different teams ,new management but none of it works anymore. They really need to step up their game.

I am tired of Star Stable not hearing the players. I used to release videos on my RU-vid channel every Wednesday and that quickly became difficult when interesting updates stopped happening. I recently came back into the game after a few years of inconsistent playing and was very disappointed to see hardly any real changes. Thanks so much for creating this video. I hope this inspires the SSO team to shift their priorities.
I really hope they get their Damm act together all of what you said I 100% agree with. If they don’t act fast with their decision making and choices of what is updated and not, they’re going to lose hundreds of players who do not give a Damm about the horses and are concerned about the releases of quests, storyline, bugs and well all you mentioned that players are complaining about.
Bro even if sso took like a month off the weekly updates to spend time fixing bugs, making quests, ordering new computers etc. that’d be fine, it’s just so annoying that they’re only really focusing on the horses. I’m on level 19 and only 85 XP from level 20, I’ve been grinding with the reputation quests I have left but even after weeks of doing the daily quests (of the places that I have reputation quests) I’m still 1000’s of points away from being able to do the quests, I’m honestly hoping so much that there’s quests that I can do at level 20
There isn't, sad to say. All that's open are the dailies like fishing, and Farah and Rune Runner. But you're right, if they would just ease up on all the horses, SO MANY THINGS would already be in a better condition. Just TRY SSO. For heaven's sake, just TRY!

I just wanted to say thank you for making such a detailed and thought-out video! I hope it spreads throughout the SSO community and helps people to realize the truth about what's been going on in this game for a very long time. I also hope that people realize that those of us trying to invoke much needed changes aren't trying to hate on SSO. We're just tired of being ignored for years now and it's disheartening to see a game we love that has SO much potential being run into the ground for the sake of revenue. I've been also trying to figure out why they removed the old fjord models. They never removed any other horses so why just them? It could still bring in passive income by keeping them in the game. The only conclusion i could come up with is that that model was a creation of either a singular previous employee or employees that owned the rights to that model...and when they left they wanted them removed? Idk all this deleting the whole damn storyline is a very shifty thing to me
I'm happy that a more important part of the community starts to open their eyes but I'm afraid it's too late now. They are really good at playing with their most demanding fans's feelings, offering them the feeling to be important - ambassador, the most useless title ever - for them. And that forced positivity ? Nobody finds that unhealthy to use that to counter the critiques ? I can't possibly be the only one to see a similarity with the way some sects and gurus act to keep their fans and make them giving more and more money ?
i feel like sso was lazy with the new area. by making the horses talk for no reason they didn´t have to make people with animations, no bildings or homes and les stuff around it. i think it would be much more fun if there were people that where isolated from our world

I'd literally go on for just events, until there was either a new area or quests i could do. Back in the day those quests took like a week, sometimes 2. Now they take 2 hours or less. I'm 32, I moved on to horseisle 3 until there are new quests. Then I'll do those, then move back. Because theres nothing else to do....
Sso 5 years ago: a game with a girl and her horse that go on adventures and quest together to save Jorvik from Garnok. You learn that you’re a magical soul rider and you explore the world together with unique NPCs with amazing backstories and relatable characters. Sso today: if you like buying cartoony versions of horse breeds and doing the same races over and over again until they max then the games for you
they could actually make MORE money by having a completed story but selling it in 8$ episode packs with plenty of content while giving the base game a good expansion and new content.

Also Im from sweden and let me tell you basically nothing has happened anywhere, they cant blame it on covid bc it was also a problem even before covid! I was protecting sso for so long and now I am so tired, and making money like that is just sad. I started playing 2017 and I was so into the story, I bought the books (In swedesh), I played Star Shine Legacy but all if them ends and starstable is the start. If I am correct, Fripp is still hurt and starstable have not finished the story quests. R.I.P Fripp
honestly i can agree that i've BEEN that type of person who always gave sso one more chance on and on, but this has been the turning point for me. i did have my doubts about this whole thing since 2018. from that point i've started to notice kind of a flame, that's slowly dying out. same as you, the responses make me boil up inside like im some sort of tea in a pot. this could be resolved so easily.. but instead they choose the hard way.
Oh wow. Just... wow. This explains so much. I hadn't logged onto SSO in nearly 2 years (didn't keep up with updates either, and was completely in the dark), and just this last week I got the hankering to play again. I was expecting a good amount of quests built up in my absence, but when I looked at the map... those yellow exclamation points were so sparse. Just a lot of simple 5 exp side quests and, the more I looked, piles upon piles of new horses. I was shocked and confused. And the bugs... so many graphical bugs, and I have a much better computer now than I did 2 years ago, so it couldn't be me. I can't believe the game I used to love so much now feels so shallow. I'm appalled at them. That "if you need to take a break, we understand" response?! Passive-aggressive and absolutely shameful. The last time I gave them money was when I bought lifetime 5-odd years ago, and I'm confident in saying they won't ever see another penny out of me again until they straighten out their mess. Just wanted to say thank you for making this video and keeping it relatively objective. I only started playing around two years ago and I had several monthly breaks because of real life shit. And I have more than enough quests and main story and content left, so I am still really excited and haven't had a problem with the horses dropping so fast. But this video has shown me how it is for others that have been playing for a lot longer than I have. And it really opened my eyes. So thank you!
I swear the excuse of the ”Horse team doesn’t want to do anything else” only makes me more frustrated. If you can’t have a flexible team, stop hiring the stubborn ones that only infuriate the community more with the continuous horses.
I have been screaming at the top of my lungs about this and I gave up a few months ago, but I think it's important for SSO players to know When SSO announced the aquatic horses, I contacted them since I was concerned about the blue/purple horse. It's a long story, but I sent an email to SSO years ago when I was looking for a job as a character/creature designer for their games, and in my portfolio, I included some horse designs which I had done. Among them there's Caspian, my aquatic horse created in 2016. I never got a reply back from them so I assumed they werent interested and ended up finding a job elsewhere Once I saw their announcement of their aquatic horses a few years later, I was shook , their blue/purple aquatic horse is an almost copy of my Caspian, just missing the leg and shoulder fins and horn, which I assume were removed due to the tack. I tried to contacted SSO about it several times, I only got the automatic response of "We hear you, and we will keep your suggestion in mind". After sending them more emails requesting to at least change the blue/purple color to something else, make it dark blue, or dark purple, since the horses were already in game, basically to just change it enough to not look like my horse design, or change the coat pattern... I again never got a reply back. I have screenshot with dates of posting my design on my deviantart account, and even doing art of it on a beach to prove that he indeed, existed before SSO created their aquatic horses. I truly believe SSO stole from me for profit, since their goal is to do horses left and right. SSO refuses to contact me about it. They have also deleted my Instagram comment about it. As a horse game lover and someone who works as a character/creature designer in the industry, Im disappointed, and they have lost all respect I had for them...
You know what is sad, me watching this video in August 2023, knowing, that nothing hast really changed. . . It got even worse, with the difference, that we have story updates. But the castel isn't out, they let the wildwoods fall down somewhere, still one horse after another every update, SSo fired a lot of their stuff, because they are loosing money, but still do not lusten to theire community. . .

Crazy. I saw SSO posting a new job position a few months ago. They were looking for a new marketing manager and I was really interested in applying though I remembered that I hated SSO for a very common reason. It all makes sense now that I watch this video.
great video, very informative and well-structured! i wish sso would be more transparent with their player base and actually start taking feedback into account. that being said, i immensely dislike how some people forgo the whole 'constructive' part of 'constructive criticism' and just leave hate on sso, it doesn't help anyone. i really like that you didn't do that, and instead gave solid, factual, and helpful critique :)

It's the obvious lying that hurts me the most. I love Star Stable, but I've been stretched until I've been broken. I'm bored of the game, as there is nothing fun and entertaining to do, and the constant horses? They're not worth buying! The greediness that I've witnessed this year is beyond what I could have imagined.

All of this is so true!!! Oml, I was thrilled when I got enough star coins and I went to buy an AQH, I picked out the one I wanted, clicked to buy it, and when I bought it, it said I got a network error, I logged back on, to find my star coins GONE and the AQH I bought NOWHERE to be found, I messaged sso like, I'd say about 20 times at the most, and you know what they gave me? A free day of Stable Care, wow... just wow.
Not sure if it's mentioned in the video but I'm also really tired of being told we're not allowed to have male player models ingame despite there being plenty of male rigged meshes ready to use. The responses from the devs have always been along the lines of "but this is a girl game for girls" which is ridiculously sexist and falls on old tropes of only women being allowed to like horses, and also is the ONLY mmorpg I've ever seen disallowing players from playing as someone that represents them. It also means that as a trans male player of the game I'm constantly dysphoric and feel invalidated by the game itself. Their other response tends to be that if we had male player characters we'd see more predatory actions, which to me really screams the assumption that male players are inherrently all predatory and we couldn't possibly just want to see ourselves represented in a genre that for years has told men we'd be strange for enjoying. Every time a player tries to argue against male player characters, it always ends up the exact same archaic and extremely sexist argument that continues to perpetuate a culture of telling men and boys they aren't supposed to like horses at all. On that note, and I'm HOPING this gets fixed with the new player model updates coming in the future, men aren't the only folk who have been utterly shafted by SSO. The darkest skintone for players in this game is basically white girl with a tan. There's not much to help POC players in feeling accepted by the game. When you pair these two issues together, it becomes pretty blatantly clear that at least right now SSO is sending a message of assuming its playerbase should be majority white women, which, for a long time, has been the only class of people not shunned for liking equestrian content. POC and men have already had such a tough time finding places for ourselves in the equestrian community, and in its current state SSO is only furthering the idea that we'll never be truly accepted in these sports. I know these are in some sense small issues compared to the fact that this game is currently lacking any content, but I feel it's important to make it clear that this game continues to perpetuate a lot of dangerous and unfortunate stereotypes, and often seems to teach young girls to be aggressive and spiteful towards those of us who love horses that aren't white, heterosexual women. It may not be an issue as blatant as the others, but its subtlety is exactly why it continues to perpetuate such toxic ideas. Frankly quite tired of being told by straight, cisgender women that I shouldn't get to be myself in an MMORPG because it's a "horse game for girls" and thus the idea of a male protagonist in this universe is ridiculous. This is exactly the kind of mentality that leads to segregating hobbies and interests based solely on sex, which wraps around and hurts women just as much as it hurts men. SSO needs to stop ignoring its sizeable male (especially transgender) playerbase and begin to actually show us some form of acceptance that isn't "well if you pretend to be a woman here you can be allowed to play the horse game". I hear that enough in real life from the equestrian community. I don't need that invalidation from a supposed role-playing game.
Yeah a lot of really good points here. I've heard people say that it's because the storyline protagonist is female, but if they can go back and change all of the models in the story quests, they can change the dialog
I never comment on videos really generally speaking. I'm the quiet mouse in the audience, but I wholeheartily agree with everything you've said. I really hope they see this an d take it seriously in making these changes and save their game. They got a great fan base that could carry them through that transition if they would only own up and start making that change. That change being putting the game they created and the players first. The best and most successful companies are the ones that keep their porities straight and the money always follows. Keep your mind on improving your business and listen to the customers, basic business knowledge. it would be more than amazing to see this game turn around for the better, but after all you have shown here and put together so well in all this community has been struggling with and saying I no longer am a diehard supporter of sso in acting like everything is great. Truth is, it's not, and its high time they got it together-they STILL have a chance to come back from this fall from grace. However, not sure how much longer if anymore of us leave. Many of the ones voicing have stayed loyal just waiting for the change that never seems to come. With each new player that leaves their hourglass gets smaller. Sad to see it like this in a game that still holds so much potential and a game I have loved for the better part of 10years now. I have never been apart of a game for this length of time. But I feel at this point, I'm not alone in that feeling.
Thank you SOOO much for making this video! I listened intently to every part of it and the whole time I was thinking about how much I agreed with every part. I love that as a community we are all getting frustrated, bored, etc. at the same time because we have been given the same small updates, every. Single. Week. We are all getting incredibly tired of it, and that is an understatement. I have a lot of other things that I could be doing with my time, but I still take 10-20 minutes to check out the one thing they added every week, and I am disappointed every time. And then they give us the 'Coming Next Week..' title or whatever, with "A new race is coming.." and at this point I, and many other people in the SSO community, feel helpless. We tried everything, and at this point we are just there to make the game pretty, so then more people will come in and be just as disappointed as we are. It's sad, and it's honestly so so so frustrating. The thing is is that they say "take a break" but that's basically what we have been doing for the past 2 years because the updates have been crap. I feel like going to Sweden myself, and just seeing what they are actually doing. Probably nothing tbh. SSO, we've cried, and they just don't care, which scares me.

I still have collectables from multiple events from years ago because I was inactive for a while. sso needs to start actually listening to their players. they need to take the criticism. I felt I was crying wolf trying to alert players on the lack of quests, updates, things to do, core gameplay issues not getting fixed and costumer support being CONSISTENTLY bad IN 2017. Now in 2021 I'm finally seeing newer players and larger masses catching on with what's really going on, and how not a single thing has been changed for the better if you ignore visuals. This is going to keep building, heightening tension further and further until it finally snaps; then two things can happen. Either, they massively shift their focus, learn the error of their ways, put in effort in everything gameplay, fix, apologize for and rightly compensating for any and all issues that stems from the lack of responsability they've put in costumer service, fixing hacked accounts, going back on gifts, shifting blame, officially apologize and eventually make sso a really good game again (unless they fall back into their old ways when things calm down.) -The saddest thing is I'm fairly certain this won't happen unless management gets completely dethroned and people who are actually interested in the game get to call the shots. Or they crawl into a hole so toxic towards their playerbase they cannot crawl their way out of and let the game die an undignifed, slow and painful death; if not all at once. -This is the much, much more likely result, and one they have been inching towards for. over. 4. years.
The North Swedish model is one of my favourites, so I was very excited for the Runerunner and when I finally, after months of daily grind, got it, I was very proud. Like all the daily horrors were now being rewarded. Only to find out that the front lock glitches through the head when the horse is on a fast gallop. It's nothing game breaking and you could overlook it, but I think it's a perfect allegory: The Players think they get valued with something special and unique for the hard work they put into. Instead they get a re-heated model that is special in no way and even has bugs....
At this point sso is just turning into a 100% horse game. I get that like 90% of the game is about horses but there’s a story unlike almost any other horse game out there. There’s a story line. We got garnok, soul riders, adieen, an just Jorvik itself. In my opinion it used to be more then just a fun little horse game for little girls. But now it’s turned into that.
Agree! There was something so magical and mysterious about the original story. Just think about the early quests or the Starshine Legacy games. They portrayed a deeper message because the soul riders were fighting against Mr. Sands, who was a capitalist greedy businessman who wanted to capitalise Jorvik and pollute it with his oil rigs.
i wonder when they're finally going to introduce better storage and outfit organization. I've been hoping and praying for years that they will add an outfit wheel like in Red Dead where you can save outfits to easily change into. That would make making nice outfits SOO much easier without having to navigate the awful storage system.
Yeah and the new care system... Do I even need to say anything? It was lazily done, it still took a week to make all your sad horses happy again, there's not more water to fit in your bucket, and it still takes around 5-10 minutes to take care of 20 horses.
In my opinion Wildwoods was very well made, the only problem is that its quests and storyline were so short. SSE put so much effort into the physical appearance of the area, but then forgot to add a proportionate amount of quests to go along with it.
I remember when "shadow update" was add - it was just that, graphical update with better shadows but a few updates later there was 1 bit bigger which I guess was to make up for what they didn't add then
