@WardenWolf
@WardenWolf Год назад
As cool an ending as it made it, I still think restoring it was completely implausible. All the lower decks would have been compacted, the spaceframe warped, etc. I just don't see any way the ship could ever be made whole again. Maybe a whole different retired Galaxy-class ship that had been made up to exactly match the Enterprise, with some salvaged Enterprise components, but not the Enterprise herself. Then again, I guess if they took a decommissioned saucer and basically grafted its entire lower half onto the Enterprise saucer, it could work. And the bridge module is meant to be replaceable. There were a lot of surplus Galaxy-class ships and components after the Dominion War, with them being churned out 60% empty inside and used purely as gunboats. I'd imagine most would have been decommissioned immediately after the war and not finished, because the Galaxy-class was, by this time, rather obsolescent.
@steveleeart
@steveleeart Год назад
Apparently if I remember correctly, bridges are modules that can be popped out and replaced. He probably replaced it with another one.
@bob1986
@bob1986 Год назад
@@steveleeart He must have because the bridge had been updated between the end of the show and Generations to have additional stations, the captain and officers chairs elevated, Worf's spot finally got a chair etc (out of universe this was done to better dress up the set for a film and make the set dividers less obvious) but in Picard it's got the regular tv show bridge set up again. While this is obviously for nostalgia's sake it's quite likely Geordi just reinstalled an older bridge module rather than both repair it manually and also set it back to how it was prior to that upgrade.

A reviewer by the name of SFDebris pointed out a problem with this quote. Specifically the idea of Time being a 'companion'. "But I'd rather believe that Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. Reminds us to cherish every moment because they'll never come again." What makes this odd is that time is the reason moments will never come again. To paraphrase SFD, it's like having someone kick you in the face to remind you that you don't like being kicked in the face.

It's basically the "modern" (in terms of TNG era) version of the Miranda. If you recall in the Wrath of Khan, it stood toe-to-toe with the Constitution, and the Galaxy and Nebula were both approximately evenly matched - possibly even outmatched by the Nebula as both the Nebula and the Miranda could be equipped with devastating torpedo mounts on their roofs.

@@Sovereign01 They are similar in that they are both designed to be modular. You can see several variants of both the miranda (USS Lantry, USS Saratoga, USS Reliant) and teh nebula (USS Phoenix, USS Farragut) which have different support pods on top. You wish to send out a ship of either class to do a specific thing, starfleet has a fitting module lying around somewhere. All you need to do is exchange it.

Farragut was one of the last Slackjaw Nebula we saw. The others were in DS9 and First Contact. CG Nebula made changes, including a somewhat more compact engineering hull, which was probably first used for the Melbourne. Farragut's loss was used to show how bad things had gotten with the Klingons. If an entire wing of Cardassian destroyers were required to destroy a single Nebula on transport duty, imagine what the Klingons sent against Farragut.

Riker: "Always thought I'd get a shot at this chair someday" Picard: "Perhaps you still will, somehow I doubt this will be the last ship to carry the name Enterprise", such a good allusion here, saying that he thinks Riker will captain the next Enterprise-E. God I wish they'd bring him back for another series with Picard as an Admiral.

Yeah i would be quite happy with just one final TNG movie, before the cast starts to die off. Mainly Patrick stewart is getting pretty old. TNG deserves one final good farewell movie at the very least. Its times like this i wish i was a multi billionaire. I would fund my own damn TNG series.

When Star Trek was still about the journey to explore the human condition, the universe and all the original adventures in between. When it was a commentary of all the harsh realties, and all the lessons we could learn from an outside futuristic perspective. When it was a cinematic symbol of HOPE, when we fail to succeed and the chips are slammed down. When this crew left us and too much time passed, the message was lost and the format was forgotten. Star Trek isn't what it should be anymore and, for the modern youth, its a damn shame.

+Jon Lyons I suspect that the crew could only take so much of their possessions onto the rescue ships. The rest of their stuff would be salvaged when the other ships came to get the scraps of the saucer section. You have to remember that the space for a thousand people on two ships would be limited by the crews as well as any cargo on said ships. Also that the Federation would not have simply left the saucer section there for scavengers getting hold of important Federation tech. Also consider that sooner or later - possibly as little as a few hundred years - the inhabitants of Nerendra Four would eventually send astronauts to the planet in pre-warp ships. The Prime Directive would apply so the saucer would have to be removed. Since the planet is currently uninhabited its safe the say that Picard's stuff and the rest of the crew's possessions will be safe until the salvage ships arrived.

One of the most beautiful scenes in all of Star Trek. Perfect script and perfect dialogue because it feels real. Sometimes bad things happen, so it is important to cherish moments while we experience them. Star Trek is no fairy tail so there isn't always a "happily ever after" and that is what made the old series and movies so great. Today's need to never let anyone or anything die and always bring stuff back in the need of fanservice leaves a hollow feeling. I never had a problem with the destruction of the 1701-D because her end was so well written and it gave us this amazing scene which now has lost some of its sadness and emotion thanks to Star Trek Picard.

Fun fact I remember when Generations was coming together they had an idea for the Enterprise-A to fight the Enterprise-D with both casts and then the two apparently join forces. Apparently a poster was thought up to of the same one out there now “The Two Captains” one but with both Enterprises fighting on it. Believe they couldn’t get the story right as to why they would battle.

When my nephew and I once watched The Original Series episode The Tholian Web, he thought that Captain Kirk missed his chair on the Bridge when he was trapped in the interphase until the crew saved him in the end. Perhaps Captain Picard and Commander Riker both missed their chairs on the Bridge of their old ship even when they got their new ship.
@ldkellandshaw
@ldkellandshaw Год назад
It's not that chair. it might be the Captains chair, but it isn't the Enterprise... and that's the reason he passed up multiple commands. In the end, he had to settle for not the Enterprise because Picard wasn't going anywhere. One wonders if that was reinforced by what Kirk told Picard in the Nexus.
