Considering Voyager's theme was written by Jerry Goldsmith, it ougt to be amazing, always loved it since I first heard it back in the 90s as a kid... :)
Also teared up when I heard it adopted as "Star Trek: Picard" Season 3 theme. It is closely reflect the legacy of Capt Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of Enterprise-D.
I actually shed a tear at the rendition of Blue Skies by Isa Briones. That was totally live, and real, and I felt it so deeply. I think the DS9 theme was my second favorite of this performance. So majestic. Very cool that Jeff Russo conducted it all!! As someone pointed out, the lack of acoustics of a hall can be heard… and knowing very well this scenario, I give extra kudos to the musicians who were doing this gig! That must not have been easy! But I’ll close this comment with all my admiration going to Isa Briones! That was so meaningful for many reasons.
Playing "Blue Skies" at the beginning of Star Trek:Nemesis was very appropriate since this was right after the Great Dominion War and "Blue Skies" was written right after WW II and expressed the optimize of a triumphant post-War America.

This just gives me nostalgia especially the 2009 movie theme when Kirk arrives at the enterprise for the first time and when it leaves space dock and most importantly the TOS theme
For you, I gotta do this... "Space... The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. It's continuous mission: to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life, and new civilizations. To boldly go where no man... where no one has gone before."
A wonderful performance! Great cruising music for my own starship. Voyager's theme always moves me. Captain Kirk on clarinet, at three forty two. 🖖LLAP!
I always love to see live performances, but whoever was calling these shots and the camera folk.... there are specific solos in each of these pieces... if there's an amazing trumpet or f horn playing their hearts out, I don't want to see a violin simply playing a long note. This music is iconic - it's not like you don't know these notes will be hit and who is going to be playing them. Feature the action... or as my favorite directors used to call it "Come on, Camera 2!!! TREAT ME!!!!" I do love seeing this. Not having the opportunity to attend in person, I appreciate this video.
@@gn0me420 because it was a song written by an artist that stands alone from the show if I’m not mistaken. All other themes were written “in house” specifically for the shows that they were on. CBS/Paramount may not have the exclusive rights to play “Enterprise’s theme” without paying royalties to the artist.
Voyager is good, but not the best. I think that the best is TNG, but not on its own as you know this was used in a lot of the original Kirk movies, and I fell in love with it then.
Strings and woodwind must've been easier to come by than brass. It would seem that Quark didn't really come through for them on this one....... Before I start getting all sorts of negative feedback look up John Williams or the Philharmonic Orchestra. I'm going to concede that it's probably a budget or overhead issue but their brass and base sections are almost the size of this ENTIRE orchestra.......
Its really curius.. and i dont know why. BUT somehow the sound is far from " good " . Not even one part comes really through as it should. Whole time, its like one note misplaced. And the " ambient " is totally missing. Against that, the Star Trek Concert from Prague ( over 1 hour on youtube ) , sounds fantastic. --- So far its NOT the performers fault.
I believe the “ambience” is missing because it was performed outside. The players also aren’t the greatest - you can hear strings having trouble, horns splitting tones etc. Combine this with the fact that recording and sound engineering evidently wasn’t at a very high level and you’re left with a quite self-explanatory result.
@@LukAlt Then its only a huge " Outsch" because, special, who gives here that Concert should be focus on " best level" as possible. Its not a " small , neighberhood" channel, who is here shown the Concert. Its one of the Biggest Studios ( or department of it ) in US.
Paramount scraped some cash for those ridiculous branded masks (except for the brass), but can’t afford any acoustics, or a decent orchestra. Then again, now that Trek’s gone woke, Klutzman era music can’t exactly get more dull.
@@swainer8014 more like - SJWs using hysterics and gaslighting over reasoned debate, because they cannot back up a single point.. which I’m sure _you_ wouldn’t do. All of which pushes the general public further to the right.
@@MajorVanBloodnok We can keep going back-and-forth but it's obvious we are not anywhere near in agreement our politics and viewpoints on the world. You frame that debate is being stymied and yet you use nebulous and right wing cliches that do nothing to further debate. I particularly appreciate the irony when you use the term gas lighting. That term came to popularity in 2016 with a particularly idiotic right wing joker would gaslight constantly and give the clearest example of what that word means. And now you're trying to apply it to the left. It does not fit.
They ruined the mood adding the 2009 them, but that's just my opinion. I also get the impression that all trek, going forward, is just a variation of the Abramsvearse. Oh well..... 🖖🏻
Not the best concert. Sounded dull, clinical. bad mic work. Masks are absolutely not necessary and sure take away from the look and performance. this has gone too far. I'll pass.
Sorry disagree. Indicates that true star trek realizes the truth of present times. This is being written when the omicron variant has just made itself known. Like it or not. Masks are a life saver
