He escaped from slavery, became a Jedi, and then the lust, and evetually love for his wife, then the hubris of his possession of his wife, the betrayl was ineveitable. He is a slave once more, to a dark power, and. Dark Master.
Even the right thing, if done for the right reasons, can still lead to darkness if the emotions are too powerful...they can still overwhelm you, you focus only on that single thing and ignore all else.
@@havu2236 I feel like he was more ignorant than selfish. Or at least the selfishness was born from a lack of understanding, and the Jedi are ill prepared to counsel that sort of thing.
I feel so much empathy for Anakin. His heartache is so strong, and the way he is torn between his lust for power and his love for the people who are close to him that became an obsession that made him behave in a way that caused his own downfall
Darth Vader is not a villain, he's a hero. A tragic hero, but still a hero in the end, he killed the Emperor and saved his son and brought peace to the galaxy, thus showing that he's the chosen one
No he's definitely a villain. I understand feeling empathy for him giving what led him to it, but the things he did in his lifetime were way beyond "tragic hero". If Hitler saved killed one guy to save his own son at the end of the war you wouldn't think of him as a tragic hero, would you?
@@ReignOfCurtis Hitler killed himself but I don't think it was out of remorse for anything he did. I think it was out of fear for the consequences of being on the losing side of the war. Vader actively did something in an attempt to atone for what he had done.
@@Crabb90 Vader did it to save his son. You can argue that is selfless, but it was still for something personal to him. He also slaughtered countless innocent people including small children and his own men on a regular basis. Vader was no tragic hero by any account. The character is a monster and his story is tragic, but he is still a villain all the way through.
"And he closed his eyes for one final time. The sadness and guilt of the years crushing on his heart. But it was over now. His son and daughter safe, the emperor dead, and the Galaxy saved. His mind went to the force, and the force forgave him." Anakin: "It's finally over...I've done it. Oh no...Ahsoka...Obi Wan... I'm so sorry." Anakin looks at his son and smiles with a bittersweet smile, knowing that he will be there for his family again when the time comes. It was over yet it only begun.
@@brianmaton yeah, I don't recognize the prequel trilogy as anything other fan theory films. Cool ideas sometimes, but not at all in line with Episodes 1-6.
Agreed, I was 18 in 03' when Revenge Of The Sith came out in theaters Vader was always my favorite... STILL is... and now even more so because while his deeds were dark..... if I had my love or Children on the line I too would go to whatever ends to keep them safe, only difference between him and I besides the force I wouldn't have choked my wife.
perhaps, but only failures accept it... victory belongs to the good. the innocent and the repentant, and repentance is the more difficult, as Vader learned.
@@HybridRenoII The Dark Side corrupts the mind, has you do things that you do not want to do, has you act irrational. Its sole intention is to lead you into the darkest pit you can go. It did for Anakin.
Anakin stoically stood by at Qui-Gonn's funeral. Anakin never wept when leaving his mother. He felt no sorrow when she died. His tears were fueled by pain and hatred and anger. The intense pain brought on by Padme's death led to suffering. The only time Anakin truly wept was when he realized, for a brief moment, what he had become. Standing amid the destruction of his wife's beloved planet, he looked upon the memorial of his beloved. At that moment, all anger, hate, and bitterness faded away and he remembered love. Vader's hardened heart broke and the tender Anakin melted into tears.
Vader watched, as Emperor Palpatine tortured the man Vader sought to be his apprentice. But, Anakin Skywalker watched the Emperor torture his son and Anakin had seen his loved ones suffer enough and could bare no more.
This is the best character in star wars ever..i feel empathy for him...I was cried while watching the end...Poor him...:(( The last time he see his son..Luke...He just smile...a smile with pain...the past...finally..he did it..he kill the emperor and it's means he also died for his son..sadly...Now he became a ghost force with Yoda and Obi-wan, he can happy...a real feelings with Padme and his children...he lost everything...but just this time, he took it back. Luke was cried for his father's death..if you can understand the story completely..you will see Star wars's story is really amazing and sadly. STAR WARS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER I HAVE NEVER SEEN!
I graduated high school in 2000 so saw ep 1 in 99 as a jr.. Then I was in college and more grown up and fully powerful in my prime in love just like Anakin was in episode 2 then later life happened to me and i saw ep 3 and im pure vader dead broke heart
Darth Vader is and will always be my favorite part of star wars. He never was a bad guy, not really. A perfect example of how easy love can manipulate people into being a puppet.
To be fair, Anakin did speak to Rey in the last movie, we heard his voice along with other Jedis. Not defending the movie, I refuse to believe he never spoke to his grandson, and Padme isn't even mentioned once, and... all the rest of this shitshow.
His story gives us hope! Even though we have allowed overwhelming heart break and pains of life to manipulate us into walking the dark path. We are not without the Hope of redemption!
Anakins life is the greatest tragedy and the saddest story in the history of the universe and I'm sure it will stay that way for a long time.. If not forever
Fuck the Force Unleashed and its glorification of that pussy bitch Starkiller over Vader. The ONLY good thing Disney did was make that trash non canon.
I wish Anakin was living through the sequel. Like he’d return to finish off Palpatine for what he made him become. But with his memorable lightsaber passing on to a trusted Jedi, Rey got the job done. Anakin may have caused pain... but it wasn’t his fault. And technically, he saved the rest of the lives in the galaxy because of his lightsaber passing on through generations. People say that the Jedi Council caused his rage because of his untrusted future and others say that Palpatine caused it due to the appreciation to anger that passed on to him/Anakin. I say both the Council and the Emperor caused it. At one point, Anakin stopped caring due to the people that couldn’t trust him. Luke Skywalker had a great father with a great destiny. “You was supposed to destroy the Sith. Not join them.” “You were my brother, Anakin... I loved you.” ~ Obi-Wan Kenobi Jedi Master Anyways, let’s go back to Darth Maul since he’s alive, boys.
Or like, Disney could just NOT have raped an entire franchise for cash? The sequels are - in every sense and category - ridiculous, doing nothing else than shitting on I-VI.
in the beginning Anakin had nothing to his name, living in fear, he only had his mother, and his passion of fixing things. Then he met Padme, he fell in love, but he became a Jedi, and love was forbidden, but he married her in secret, but anger arose in him. Then his mother died, and the fact that he could not save her, drew him further to the dark side. Then Palpatine promised that he could save Padme and their child with the dark side, and gave in. feeling betrayal from his former master he now hated the Jedi and hunted them down. But soon he caused the death of Padme and lost everything he had. Even though he has brought the empire to glory it all meant nothing to him, and he suffered.
Anakin was by far the deepest character of all Star Wars. He was first a slave, a hero, a tyrant and finally a savior. He went through the journey that makes us human. We strive to be good, to love and we struggle, we suffer, we hate and we grow old, wiser, we learn and finally we accept the error of our ways.
That’s not strange at all. One of the main reasons Darth Vader becomes one of many’s favourite characters is because of how insanely well developed and human he is. Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker is the second most tragic character in Star Wars, the only one who beats him is Obi-wan Kenobi. Anakin grows onto many people who were kids/teens when they saw the prequels because of how cool he is. Which often leads to his beautiful character arcs slipping under appreciated, once the audience matured enough they begin to see the beauty of Anakin/Vader and he rapidly grows on everyone to be their favourite
I was just listening to this in the background of what I was doing, and man, this just sounds so sweet and sad, just completely tragic and delicate with an ounce of love.
The child who became a slave. The slave who became a Jedi. The Jedi who became a hero. The hero who became a Sith. The Sith who became a monster. The monster who became a man. The man who became the Force.
I think Anakin is definitely one of the best characters for the simple reason he isn't a good or a bad guy, it gives him a lot of complexity and makes him relatable. It takes that to make you feel a bit sorry for someone who would become the destroyer of billions. Honestly I think the end lesson to Anakin's story is to learn to forgive yourself.
What I’ve learned about movies about characters is that as children we idolise the heroes but the moment we are older and more knowledgeable we understand the trauma and tragedy of many villains. Like we all hated Stromtroopers because they’re the bad guys (Child pov) But as were older we know Stromtroopers are just like you and i. People fighting against Terrorism (Rebellion) fighting for what they think is right and justice or simply just needing a job.
What I’ve noticed a lot in movies is that almost always, the villain was once good but has been either twisted by a traumatic event or has somehow been wronged by a good character that is supposed to be looked up to and treated as wise. We are left sympathetic to the villain and are left wondering if we can trust or forgive the good guy for what has happened (In this case we’re conflicted about what we think of the Jedi), and hope that peace is restored between them and the good guy or that the trauma is overcome.
Have you ever heard the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker: He lost his mother His wife His brother/mentor His little sister/padawan Suffered for years, was mentally tortured. If you don’t know this story I’m not surprised it’s not one that Disney would tell you.May the force be with and all of us.Always
Even the sequels, episodes 7 8 and 9, were nothing without Anakin, for the son of Solo, grandchild of Anakin, sought to follow Vader's path before he turned back to the Light.
Good background music when you're contemplating on certain thing regarding your feelings. Whether they be on the light or dark side of the force, they're just doing the same things to an extent, just viewed differently. One side cannot exist without the other. One man's villain is another man's hero and vice versa. Darth Vader was not evil, he was just....broken.
Behind that mask is a broken child a broken father a broken master his mother died in his arms, his apprentice left him his wife killed by his own hand. And a man who lost a all that he stood for. A man that was kind enough to give all he could to save his wife and yet she died not from what he thought but from his own actions. You can tell that his story is one of nothing but pain.
8:40 - Can someone tell me what chord/note this is? I am just in love with the sound of this part. It's so deep, kinda evil but yet depressing and sad. I wanna find more piano pieces who uses this mainly
just made me cry for no reason ,thınk about everythıng about lıfe everythıng, thınk about ıt just everythıng to yourself and to the god. If ıt exsists just thınk
Those who care the most suffer the most, It's in that suffering that Anikin was transformed by the pain which led to his hatred and for the loss he endured could not forgive himself, In the end Anikin proved that goodness prevailed over everything else destroying the Emperor and bringing balance to the force in his sacrifice, slave,Jedi Hero,Sith Villian, Chosen saviour.
No, he wasn't. Had he not been seduced by the dark side, Padme would still be alive. He would be a father of two healthy children in a home filled with love. And who knows what the Council might had done. Think about it: Anakin was tempted by Sidious with THE one thing that he cared about, the only thing he cared about. Had he done the right thing and obeyed Windu, and had he told the whole truth, it could change the very views of the Jedi. Had Anakin chose to obey and be honest, his example would have significant weight within the Jedi Order, possibly enough to make the Jedi reconsider their very beliefs. Instead he to the quick and easy path, and he paid the ultimate price. If you give your all to the dark side, the dark side is all you have.
A son who was robbed of his mother by a tribe of savages. A husband who was robbed of his wife by false hope and fear. A good man who was robbed of his sanity by a manipulative twisted mastermind. But a father who was saved by his son who never gave up on him.
Very sad. Anakin lost his mother, and He must have promised himself To protect his wife by any means. His such natural and simple feelings seemed to bring him to the darkside.
Whenever I watch the new Star Wars movies and realize how terrible they are, I come across something like this that reminds me of what Star Wars means to me and how incredible the original movies were in comparison to this new shit
Anakin didn't fail to fulfill the prophecy, but rather the Jedi failed him into making him able to do it. Let his mother rot in slavery, permitting him from love, talking about how dangerous Anakin is right in front of him, forcing him to suppress feelings, and try to simply shove down any problems he has instead of dealing with them.
Read the novels to Episodes 1,2 and 3. Its really messed up how Palpatine twists and manipulates Anakin. He was never meant to be solely a villan. Although he sure made a bad *** villan. He's a tragic character who basically ends up being a puppet. Before being saved by his son. In a way he really was the child of prophecy. He does end up destroying the sith.
The black bubble....only seen in empire, where he takes his gear off and washes and relaxes. Do you all know what he does in the bubble? He watches over and over holograms of padme in her wedding gown....how happy she was, they were......forever trapped in the consequences of his decisions. Always weighing out the mistakes of his past...his temper...his need for a normal family life. A tortured soul, forever in flux of duty and honor vs necessities of survival and the need for a power to save everyone when you can't save everyone, no one can. In the end, he fulfilled the prophecy when he killed the emperor and saved his son. He is of the prophecy, and he ascended in blue Spirit the chosen one. Any and all who wish to convey their concerns about episodes 7-9 can go to either china or Florida or California to do so because Disney wars is not star wars and we all know that. Those who defend Disney wars are hypnotized puppets who aren't worthy of Metallica as their master. Disney-san is evil!!
