Primate..... I absolutely LOVE this series!!! They did such a fantastic job with it, and I can't wait to see season 2! (which covers 4 - BBY to 0 - BBY (right before Rogue One). At least, that's the news we're hearing from some credible sources. Things can change, though, as we all know.

I gethca fam, but i think 10/10 is overselling it. Apart from some small-meduim plot issues (mainly episode 3, but even this episode had some) this show was GREAT, dialogue, writing (especially character work), acting, set design OFF THE CHARTS... 8.5/10 is more realistic and still fucking in its own league compared to other star wars shows : Kenobi 2/10, BoBF 2.5/10, Mandolorian 3/10 (mando was a badly written show from the start, the sooner we talk about it the sooner we can improve star wars)
@MikeKennedyNFL

10/10 is not overselling it. It is the best Star Wars has ever been and has basically no flaws.
@parsa1372
@parsa1372 Год назад
@@MikeKennedyNFL i can agree it is the best best Starwars (at least since empire, that's a safe bet) and again, it is LEAGUES ABOVE any other Starwars Disney has put out (even mando). And i LOVE THIS. But you do realize that 10/10 means perfection right? No flaws whatsoever. I don't believe even Tony Gilroy himself thinks this is a 10/10. But hey i can give a flaw as a reference. Episode 3, they come to Maarva's house looking for Andor. Inconveniently that is when Andor calls B and gets tracked (no biggie, accident happen). Then Luthen comes they have a chat for a WHILE and then Luthen's device tells him that Andor is being tracked, making so that they are surrounded now and gotta fight inconveniently. Don't get me wrong. We can argue if this is a flaw and even if it was...it is NOWHERE NEAR the severity of the flaws other disney stuff have (character assassinations, plot holes up the wazoo, etc). But even small, it would make Andor not 10/10 . Now get me fam?

Even the post credit scene has meaning and purpose. It's not just a cheap Death Star cameo. It gives us some insight into how the Empire had it built and yet kept it secret. They just had imprisoned slave workers building components for it 24/7 with no idea what it's for, and then they actually assemble it elsewhere. Also, the sense of irony that Cassian (and Melchi) unknowingly helped build the thing that kills them.

It’s like the Manhattan Project which was the US government’s secret project to develop the first nuclear weapons. The people who worked on it had no idea what they were doing and the president of the United States was among the few people in the world allowed to know the truth.

There is so much to this episode and this show. Nemik and Maarva both dead and inspiring people to rebel from beyond the grave. Both Rebels who never got to see the sunrise of the rebellion succeed just like luthens monologue. The heroes in this episode were a community marching band facing down soldiers. They had no idea that they would fight and possibly die for the rebellion that day. All of which perfectly mirrored nemiks manifesto.

I was teaching English at this particular office, they have a TV screen I hook up to and in between classes I was watching this last eps. LET. ME. TELL. YOU. I was ready to flip tables when things popped off. The speeches and monologues in this season - my top favorite speeches in media of all time. The prison break and this riot (and I don't mean just the moments, but the build ups to both) - some of my top "rage against the machine" moments in media of all time. Mon Mothma knows she got spies, they sort of established it when we first saw Luthen in his store and she shows up. So she decided to basically pin her money problems on the husband given he already had a record of gambling to get some heat off her - especially with that deal she made at the end. One thing I found weird, is I found people were SO misunderstanding Mon Mothma's arc here, they felt like it just didn't really go anywhere or was repetitive.

I think Mon Mothma’s arc flies under the radar but the actress’s performance was incredible. Her conversation with Tay, Keno’s one way out speech, Nemmik’s manifesto, Luthen’s sunless base speech, Luthen v Saw and finally… Maarva’s incredible last words, they all live rent free in my brain.

Even though it’s highly unlikely he’s gonna make it out alive, I’d love to see him post Battle of Endor, living it up in his antique shop, just actually selling antiques. Honestly, him being an antiques dealer is such an interesting part of his character, because 1. It gives him a perfect reason to be constantly making quick trips to other planets for both picking up and delivering antiques, and 2. His knowledge means he has respect for all of these different cultures, which would definitely explain his hatred for the Empire who both pave over and exterminate existing cultures.

fantastic show!! some of my favourite things about this show is the small details that can either be missed or subconsciously tell the viewers something- - Mon Mothma's home- her house design is BRILLIANT!! if you look at the shots of her in her house the architecture is shaped in hexagons (we often see her framed in the hexagon in her hallways) this is a direct parallel to not only the imperial logo itself but also the machines that Andor had to make in prison. This conveys Mon Mothma's personal oppression that she has in her home and personal life - Luthens costume and silhouettes - when he is working as his fake identity in the shop we see him in dark reds, maroons and dark blue robes- however when he is as himself, he is constantly in black cloths that give him a flowing, ominous silhouette. This becomes more apparent as the show goes on but specifically in this finale when we see him at the beginning looking off from the cliffs and at the funeral with his hood up. These directly parallel the costume and silhouettes of palpatine- luthen is brutal, dark, blunt much like palpatine. Of course, as viewers we understand that he does it for the greater good, but his character is very similar which i think is fascinating. - This one could be reaching- but i think the costume design and the general appearance of Dedra Meero could be done to resemble that of thrawn. Her costumes (in and out of uniform) are always very sharp and cut edge. She has very sharp bone structure in her face and her hair is always slick back- and her posture is always very uptight but she still has this relaxed poise and confidence to her that thrawn had. These could of course just be cultural codes for her character but with so many similarities between the characters themselves- and how much attention to detail is in this show- i would not be surprised if these were done on purpose! Thank you primate for your consistent positive outlook on star wars- these reactions have been a blast! So excited for the Ahsoka show to come

This show was amazing, I’ve rewatched several of the episodes and speeches. Probably my favorite new character in this show was nemik, I love his philosophy, whoever wrote him was CRUSHING it. After watching this episode, the music gets me choked up every time, it’s so somber but then gets hopeful and inspiring, just perfect. The shot composition of this episode was amazing as well, the feelings of each character are so well framed and complimented. Like every time we see andor he’s in these tiny areas, where he can only see and interact with the things within arms reach, when he has no idea what’s going on, we only see him in larger frames when he’s with other characters. The shots he’s framed in are as large as his frame of reference for the world around him. Chef’s kiss I hope we get more stuff of this caliber in future Star Wars. Can’t wait for whatever is next on the channel, and you already know I hope it’s The Expanse (Going to check your patreon now to see if I can find out what you picked)

Things I would like in Andor Season 2: - Mon Mothma catching a break for once, she had it rough this season. - More aliens, we did fine with droids this season via B2 but it would be nice to get some aliens with significant screen time - Syril introducing Dedra to his mother. Could be some of the funniest Star Wars content ever 😂 - Some of the characters introduced during the show surviving not just the show but also Rogue One + the Original Trilogy. Just because it’s a grim and unforgiving show doesn’t mean that there can’t be at least 1-2 characters that get a happy ending.

I had chills just watching the reaction to this - this show was so good. Don't get me wrong, I love campy Star Wars (for example, I think Book of Boba Fett had some great vibes even though that show is a much different tone), but this show is on a completely different level and probably some of the highest quality Star Wars content that exists, period. Interestingly, the Pershing episode you mention might have actually been my favorite part of season 3 because it was such an interesting view of what was going on in the galaxy that we haven't seen yet and is building some interesting context for that time period. (For me the weird ass pleasure planet was probably the weakest episode in that season.) I would actually love to see them do a show like this in the Solo-era or with those characters (Crimson Dawn, Qi'ra, Enfys Nest, etc) - I think the whole crime empire/underworld/heist aspect could lend itself well to a grittier type of show that really gives you time to get juicy with the characters. (Which I think is maybe what people wanted with Book of Boba Fett).

Some things I’d like to share that made me appreciate the show even more: 1. Crazy to think that Andor and the prequels exist in the same universe, but that’s a good thing. Think about it, Darth Vader happened and you know he is out there, somewhere. 2. Although no Jedi showed up, I feel like the show was able to elevate their significance in the universe. Sort of creating a mystery on who the Jedi were (at least in my opinion, IDK if that makes sense). 3. The empire is actually scary in this show. They’re very capable and serious. Which makes Darth Vader’s presence more terrifying (in my opinion). 4. Because the show focused on regular people, it creates another level for the Star Wars iceberg/pyramid or another point in the spectrum. For example, we can go from stories that focus on regular people(Andor), to the Jedi and their affairs(Prequels/Fallen Order), to mythos(Mortis arc, world between worlds, Yoda’s journey)

The irony of the end credit scene - Cassian was shanghied to prison and forced to build parts of the weapon that will kill him

Yeah. This show was wildly good. I do not understand people who don't like it. This is the most grounded and adult-minded Star Wars content we've ever gotten. Not made to sell toys (although the Luthen's ship is freakin awesome). And yeah those were the parts they were manufacturing in the prison, holding mirrors together for the superlaser.

I just hope Andor doesn’t suffer from it’s own success in Season 2. They took this season serious and it was amazing for me. I just hope they continue the grit and high stakes. Great writing. I said it during the trailer. This is a story about the people. It’s awesome.

I agree with your hope and your fear. To me, though, Andor's "Hero's journey" has been told. Luthern needed a hero, and we see Andor's journey to become the hero Luthern needs. So, I don't see much we need of an arc for Andor...just some "Adventures of Andor" until he gets to Rogue One. I'm more interested in Mon Mothma's story, now, until she gets to the point in Rebels where she openly declares for the Rebellion.

Little detail I like is that none of the stormtroopers say a single word in the whole show, makes them feel more intimidating. I like that they’re used so sparingly in this show too, makes it feel like a big deal when they show up

Yularen is in this show. The guy who escaped with Andor is among the rebels who go to Scarif with Cassian Andor and Jyn Erso. So, besides Cassian Andor there are two other characters who appears in other Star Wars media.

There are so many things to love in this episode but one thing that gets me in particular is that this is the episode where you realize the show isn't called Andor just because of Cassian.

This show took a character I wasn’t a big fan of, from a movie I liked, but was definitely not a huge fan of many of its characters and made him so much more complex, by revealing his influences (Kino, Marva, Clem, Luthen). I cannot wait for Season 2! Edit: also, I never expected Mon Mothma the regal rebellion speech giver from Episode 6 to be the kind of person to outplay the ISB by feeding false information to an spy implicating her husband to hide her own secret money transfers. Edit 2: Andor really on that spy game, to get in, rescue Bix and get out without anyone (he didn’t want) ever knowing he was even on the planet.

28:21 we did technically see the fully constructed laser dish being slowly inserted and installed into the Death Star in Rogue One. In the grand scheme of it all, it's really scary that facilities like the one Cassian got imprisoned in was possibly one of the few facilities cranking out parts for the Death Star. Those places definitely needed lots of workers and manpower. Makes you wonder the number of how many they actually imprisoned and locked up to make their quotas...

I wish they could find a way to put this series into theatres for special event showings; it’s just that cinematic. Not sure how they’d do it (split it into the 4 “arcs” of 2-2.5 hours?), but I would easily pay $100+ per person to see that in it’s entirety.

We get so invested in characters in this show because Andor has proven itself to take good care in writing the characters. When a tv series/movies shows that they don't give a shit about their characters, then any new character that comes in won't be interesting.

I legit laughed out loud when you started stressing about the ship with our favourite side characters from ferrix possibly getting shot down. It was a legit concern. Would have been damn tragic if it happened because we don't know the fate of those characters and I don't think we'll find out until season 2.

And, regardless of what happens to her and Davo's son, maybe they can hold on marrying each other until later when they're older to break from Chandrilan tradition, because Mon Mothma is in a loveless marriage with Perrin maybe they can change that 🤔.

@@erikolson4148 They spoke of betrothal as early as 14...we don't actually know when in their custom marriage actually occurs. We don't know how the young couple is ensconced within the family structure, whether families are extended, what the continuing roles of parents and grandparents are as the couple matures, et cetera. We just don't know enough to make that kind of judgment of a culture that's been successful planet-wide over thousands of years...compared to ours that isn't really that successful (fifty-fifty), and we've only been going at it this way for less than a hundred years.
