I like to think the scene between Vel and Cinta is to show how different their causes are. Cinta is doing it for vengeance, she’s so absorbed by it that she’s completely missing the other part of the rebellion--to bring hope, to help people, to save the ones you love. Vel is begging her to “step away from the window”, from their immediate goal, from that rage and anger, to be with *her* for a moment, to cherish what they *do* have.

@middlemann8 And when Cinta said "it's not mine" about the blood like it was nothing, she let through just how ruthless she really was and that definitely scared Vel. I think we can all agree that Maarva's speech ruled, but what got me choked up were her last words to Cassian. "Tell him I love him more that anything he could ever do wrong." Mon Mothma was playing her driver. She started that argument with her husband about his gambling and money to help cover the fact of her money troubles with funding the rebellion. Andor just goes to show us that Luke would've never had the chance to blow up the Death Star and decapitate the Empire without the countless ordinary beings who sacrificed so much to get him there, and conversely that they needed him to hammer the final nail in the Empire's coffin.

But I love this concept in Andor that is clearly illustrated by Nemik's words. It won't be one huge moment of certainty that will break the empire but "little acts of insurrection" that will ultimately break the dam. Without the actions of individuals rebels and rebel groups, the alliance never forms and is never ready for an attack on Scarif or for that matter a coordinated run on the Death Star so that Luke can destroy it. This glimpse into the sacrifices of Nemik, Gorn, Bix, Sal, Tamaryn, Luthen, Mon, Kino, other prisoners on Narkina 5, Cassian, Brasso, so many of Ferrix. It really makes the rebellion human. I'm certain she killed the hostages. Exactly what Luthen and Maarva talked about. “We have been choked so slowly / We have been sleeping”. We as viewers know what the Empire is, but the galaxy doesn’t. This show is great for cardio, every ep got me running around the house punching the air As for Arrielle’s question about the Empire, there’s a few things going on: - in Rebels, which is set during the same time period of 5 BBY, we learn that in other parts of the galaxy, other undercurrents of rebellion are rising, with some organization already - Andor shows us the some in the Empire, like Dedra are wary of organized rebel activity such as what Luthen is up to - there’s going to be even greater push/pull between the more complacent parts of the Empire, which will rest happy after the victory at Spellhaus, and the more observant, who notice Ferrix, Aldhani, Nirvana, and the events of early Rebels that there’s shit forming - the Emperor will also take notice and dispatch Vader and other higher ranking individuals to these outlying Esdras to try to put down this activity - mon Mothma will indeed eventually unite the rebel factions ( I suspect we see this in season 2) - saw will join, then leave (seen in Rebels) - and obviously, the Death Star will be completed

Looking forward, and what this episode means for Dedra and Syril..... I think the ISB will revert back to what it was. They got Kreegyr, and they will assume that he was Axis. Dedra's missions came to naught, and no Imperials even actually saw Cassian there at all (except the Death Trooper he shot in the face). All of their leads blew up in their faces, and Corvus- the one imperial who MIGHT have had an onground understanding of Ferrix, got knifed. Bix escaped. So, this is a huge failure on her part. At the same time, Blevin is going down the wrong (but a promising) path with Mon Mothma, so I bet dollars to donuts that he gets promoted back up for trying to use Perrin's gambling against her. The irony will be that none of those actions will actually help, but they will all LOOK like they are helping the empire's cause. Dedra will be disgraced, and that shared experience will bring her and Syril close. This is where I could see them going in one of two ways. I think the less likely option is that she tries to work her way back in with the ISB, but her failures hold her back. I think the more likely outcome is that both of them are now radicalized together, believe in the Empire's mission, but do not believe in the Empire's competence or ability to carry it out any more. They will then become an ultra-fascist cell that is pursuing the Rebels independently, almost like Saw's group is an ultraradical group that only sometimes works with other Rebel groups because they are too unstable. The irony will be that they are 'correct' in their analysis, but have to become radicalized in order to do anything about it. They could even end up destabilizing the empire in some way that harms it, if they go too far. I'm probably wrong, but this is the feeling I get, keeping in mind that this show does an excellent job of showing disunited factions all ostensibly working toward a goal, and Tony Gilroy is also a fan of Mike Duncan's revolutions podcast, and factionalization of both sides is something that reoccurs over and over in his series.

And what's more...it's not even her fault...at all. She did everything right. It fell apart because of the overzealous incompetence of the garrison commander. He's a brutalist, and her orders to let the people have their funeral but with restrictions, and to go out of their way to capture Cassian alive...went completely against not just his nature, but probably his training. An Empire full of Dedras would've been vastly more difficult to overcome. Syril was dedicated, and clever, but not skilled or experienced...and he explicitly fucked up. Dedra did everything right, and still failed, because the people she had to use to pull it off...were shitty at their jobs.

On your closing arguments: The Empire learns from Cyril not to underestimate the Rebels. Deedra is the “fall guy” for this debacle, as it cost the Empire so much for one person. She may be kicked out, but she and Cyril may go underground to redeem themselves, guerrilla style. “I use the tools of my enemy….” Cyril was there to catch Andor himself, unaware as to how many interested parties want Cassian as well. He benefited from theichaos of the Empire underestimating the people of Ferrix.

Leia: "The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers. " It looks like Deedra should be in deep _benjo,_ but I suspect she'll find a way to blame it on the Ferrix Imperial governor, who was actually in charge of security. I'm laying a bet that by the end of season 2, both Cyril and Deedra will have both been assigned to the Death Star along with Wullf Yularen.

I think Dedra's going to join the rebellion - because there's "no way out" for her after her disastrous decisions on Ferrix. But - I fear that she'll be handed over to Saw Guerrera - and get interrogated by Bor-Gullet ,,,, a method so poetically similar to Doctor Gorst's headphones torture.

Nerdy Nightly, 35:32 Centa's all business and no play. When she's on assignment, she's on assignment, and she stays on assignment until the mission is done. The Empire took her entire family away from her, and that's her assignment, why would she f' that up? Vel still has a family to go back to, she hasn't really lost anything...sadly, she doesn't seem to understand the woman she says she loves ='(

My question is this: Is Luthien a fallen Jedi. One of his most treasured possessions is a khyber crystal, his ship has red lightsaber defenses, he's got that brilliant speech with the ISB mole, and his arrival at Ferix this episode had a lot of visual parallels with Maul's appearance on Tatooine.

Bacta Tank would be good for Bix probably, heal some of that physical damage. The mental scars will be with her for a long time to come. I also hope she gets to a respite from all the shit that is dragging in the wake of Andor. Brasso is one of my favorite surviving characters; I would ship him and Bix actually.

Nerdy and Clarus, you guys are so passionate about these shows, and your reactions throughout ANDOR here have been so smart, enthusiastic, and so much fun (I just binged the entire playlist since none of my friends watched ANDOR, darn it). I started watching your channel for TLOU reactions, now I'm watching everything else, and it's awesome. Thank you for a really fun time well-spent. And I agree -- there are so many beautiful performances in ANDOR throughout. I would personally add Fiona Shaw to the list for supporting actress, since she was fantastic throughout and especially here! Marva could be argued as starting the rebellion right here int his episode. She changed the universe with one speech (even knowing she was near death). As far as what this season was about, I'd argue that it is the first domino -- the beginning of the rebellion, for real. Which is why the rebel pilots wear orange and white (like the Narkina prisoners), etc. Cheers to both of you for the smart commentary, and keep up the great work.

OK... a lot of times, I'll jump past the promotion in a vid, but this one was def worth sitting thru. XD Onto the ep: I was also confused by the whole, "Step away from the window," line, and also thought Vel might have killed Cinta. You guys talked about Luthen looking at the fight from a distance. I really got the feeling the Luthen was seeing up close, for the first time, the thing he wanted. He WANTED people to be pushed so far that they would start rising up. But, he never had to witness the human cost of that strategy up close.

Established Titles and Kamikoto Knives are both scams run out of a Chinese shell company that targets RU-vidrs with fairly large and seemingly-legit promotion offers. No, you can not buy a plot of land in Scotland and become a lord/lady, and no, Kamikoto knives are not made in Japan using traditional knifemaking methods. They're made en-masse in a factory in Yanjiang. Worst of all they don't actually even plant the trees they promise in the Established Title pitch. Very disappointed you guys are shilling for this scam.
