This campaign was okay....not as good as the 501st campaign though. Also, Operation Cinder made zero sense. The Legends explanation for the fracturing of the Empire into various warlords is how it should have been.
5:52 Hask: "We'll deal with them the same as the rest. Today we wipe out that scum once and for all." *Literally seconds later the Death Star blows up* Hask: *surprised pikachu face*
What I remember about the rise of the Empire is... is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st was discretely transferred back to Coruscant. It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do
Well the Luke scenes adds a new layer to Rise of Skywalker. Maybe luke senses the emperor and he can't find the necessary pieces to truly find the truth. Shortly after this he teams up with Lando.
Made perfect sense as a great plot point, with the empire acquiring camino cloning tech. It's like the 'rise of skywalker' film should have been the series instead of the literal pointless garbage of the first two films. Rey should have had an entire movie as sith and ben solo an entire movie of him being a badass jedi. Should have had their relationship more intense as well to help with Rey's path to the dark side, jealousy, rage, regret, greed, hate, ect (becasue she has literally no training, ffs, but Disney with unrealistic strong woman vibes for the great feminist empi-!...lol). Ben re-purposing Luke's training and getting help from force ghosts to find his way to the light, and actually getting to talk to his grandfather, along with reconciling with Leia and Luke. Rey is a perfect example of why the jedi did not train adults and she should have been WAY more unhinged than Kylo, leading a new wave of dark vs. light for the star wars universe. Instead, fucking kathleen kennedy wanted Rey to be a fantasy god character of goodness and rainbows and Ben to be thrown away because no one cares about the solo family, right? No Jade either so Luke doesn't have any real pivoting point and is instead a stubborn boomer with PTSD and loneliness for no reason at all. I think JJ had a REALLY good story for the new Star Wars trilogy, but a certain moronic Disney exec tore it all apart so they can sell Rey merch to little girls and abandon real fans for literal children that don't know what a good story or character is. The Star Wars park shows SW is more of an adult universe than for children (disregarding clone wars/rebels series which is fucking fantastic thanks to dave filoni who is carrying the SW universe all by himself). Disney has the surprised pikachu face going on right now thanks to the mandalorian. "How is this popular? Don't the kids like unending happiness and rainbows in star wars???".
It was over something so little too, honestly we should’ve been on the empire’s side for a bit longer, then betrayed the empire for something more then “we cant leave these people”
Love Lando and Shriv's friendship. You know they've been friends for a long time. Their wit is good. Lando is just too funny in this Shriv: "...and if it's not?" Lando: *waves gun* like "duh, a gun"
RandomGuy285 its pretty good, there's even a book about the inferno squad. I just wished Iden stayed in the empire the entire story, and also...the missions are just too arcadey.
Well it just so happened his comment is at 69 likes the time of me saying this so some people probably found it funny including me. (Btw I would like but like I said it’s at 69)
@@thundercloud7866 that was the problem people had, we wanted a full empire storyline that wasnt done before that was promised, instead of the cliche "empire to rebels"
Iden after the Second Death Star is destroyed along with god knows how many imperials: "Look alive agents. We can grieve later. Right now, we need to move." Iden sees a few people die on Vardos: Ok, I'm a rebel now.
ya but then they attacked a planet LOYAL to the empire!, right?...I mean whats gonna stop them from hurting more of those who believe in the empire.... for me that would have me second guessing, if my job was to protect the empire then being ordered to slay those who would shelter me from the rebels just my opinion
Iden escaping the rebel ship by the airlock was a wonderful way of showing how skilled, fearless, and trusting in her crew she is. Positively cinematic!
@Julius Gaines Hate on the game? No, I play BF2 every single day but haven't played the campaign since launch. Was curious to go back and watching just reaffirmed how bad it is. I remember being intrigued by the opening mission buy then it got super boring.
We need a game or clone wars type show after Episode 6 expanding upon the establishment of the New Republic and The First Order. Like seriously. We should also get another form of media in between Episode 1 and 2.
That's not gonna happen, and this coming from someone who hates the Empire. I'd actually like to see something similar to Legends where you have characters like Palleon and Thrawn who are loyal to the idea of an Empire that provides order. Not necessarily crazy stuff like the Death Star. In fact, Thrawn hated the Death Star. He thought it was a huge waste of Imperial resources. Not to mention blowing up planets isn't likely to inspire confidence in your people.
Uh what. It doesn’t show that at all. Pathetic attempt to give the sequels some credit lol the credit belongs to BF2 for showing an excellent portrayal of luke Also no one knew about the murderous Luke trying to kill his relative here. So this portrayal stands on its own. Ben solos fall and all that was such bullshit idk how you see it making any sense at all lol The wise and friendly Luke was ready to cut down his sisters son... what a shit fest
@@CoercedJab I do not understand the extensive use of profanity. How dare someone has another opinion than you? Its outrageous, its unfair. Its like your opinion is a fact and there is no other way, even though opinions are subjective and should be left alone.
@@CoercedJab this is one of the grosses comments I've ever seen lol! checks all the boxes of an asshole star wars fan. lashing out unrightfully, disregarding one's opinion, strong subjective opinions of his own trying to be pushed as fact, and attacking generally satisfied fan...you sir, are an SW-ASSHOLE gold.
19:46 Pretty sure all you're going to do is encourage other planets that are loyal to the Empire to turn on you and join the Rebellion. But sure, go ahead.
We still own like half the galaxy maybe more. There is still a massive chance we can win his war. ...never mind loyal recruiting/manufacturing planets go boom boom! In the EU after a few decades of fighting the Empire signed a peace treaty and got to keep a quarters of the galaxy lmao. I guess their ALL pure evil now
If I remember correctly, Operation Cinder was Palpatines punishment order in case he ever died. It was more so designed to spite the people of tbe galaxy whether empire or rebel alliance in the wake of his death.
Ee Rr turns out he’s a clone lol couldn’t think of a good reason to bring him back well done JJ and well done rian for ruing Star Wars and killing snoke your main villain lol
@@CoercedJab nope, cloning tech actually fits the narrative (camino tech is owned by the empire, remember?). Lots of hardcore SW nerds have forseen this.
Mon cal cruiser running from an imperial 1. Now I have seen everything The hell did they mean it was weaker. With its shields a con calimari cruiser can stand up to two star destroyers
this was a one time play through for me and i just never had the urge ti play it again i didnt even bother with the second campaign the came out a little while after just such a disappointment with joining the rebellion it was no shock or fun just meh kinda obvious. :/
I wonder why they did that. It's not that engines are evil or something. Especially since they left the depressingly dark interior untouched. That's especially odd since the Corvus got herself a new paintjob. Was it so hard to get someone dealing with the interior as well?
My game crapped out as Shriv turns around at the end of Jakku. When I continued my game, I am suddenly chasing Del as Kylo Ren. WTF happened in between scenes!?!
Actually all you missed was a cutscene. After Jakku it forwards 20 years and you control Kylo who is mind raping Del on the Corvus trying to find the map to Luke
“Tell me Iden, what is the source of their belief?” *smirk* “Hope” It’s funny to think that whoever wrote those lines leaned back in their chair thinking they had just knocked it out of the park, that they had just nailed what being an Imperial in the original trilogy meant. The cardboard characters in this game (besides Luke maybe? Oddly enough) aren’t even 2 dimensional, they’re barely 1 dimensional.
I just came her to ask who else could NOT leave the cantina as Han Solo cuz you knew when you went outside it was going to become really stupid... really fast...
*5:57* *When the second death star exploded. Iden Versio and Del Meeko saw something that Gideon Hask could not so they joined the rebellion* *But I wished Iden and Del didn’t join the rebellion and stay on the empire’s side*
This woman was raised empire from the day she was born and we're just supposed to believe her switching sides at the drop of a hat. Let alone killing other imperials with zero remorse. This story had so much potential to show us the empires point of view and they absolutely ruined it
Then you don't understand the SW universe at all. Most of the time these people are physiology tortured and forget what it's like to live on the light side. It just takes a flick of the switch and their entire core beliefs change (a trigger, if you will). This is all due to the nature of the force. It's literally what the entire SW universe is about. It's really extreme and is used to change the course of the galaxy. Watch or read any star wars canon content. Dave Filoni has talked about this too as well as george lucas.
@@evolicious I admit I am not a SW lore guru, but agreeing with Mr. Schulling, the 1dimensinonal character development and value was always the week part of the films. Meaning: if you are a republic supporter, you automatically become the good guy, bud if you on the Empire's side, you automatically become the villain, wich role you can only get rid of, and become the "good guy", if you turn on your country, fellow friends and comrades, you even kill them, and join the republic, and tadam, you are a hero now. To be honest I also felt dumb how Iden turned on her comrades, and was suspecting a double agent conspiracy, which of course never came. If the story would flow, like Iden trying to reform the Empire with Del (the Luke mission gave me a false glimpse of hope that you can be empire and a good person), tring to put down opreation cinder, and tring to avoid/fight the republicans, to the point of the battale of Jakku, wher she makes a temporary alliance with the republic, to take down the zeolous cinder supportes, to be betreyed after by the republic, who hopes to kill 2 bird with one stone, when she is about to be captured, he coud be saved by Del, like in the game, and they would go to exile afterwards, and so the last Del vs Kylo Ren could also happen, with Hask taking revenge at the end, then it would have made a lot more sense, keeping the promised empire side experience
i got this game at launch and I play it almost every day now. But I gotta say this is the single worst campaign I’ve ever played from a gameplay perspective. Literal doo doo water. The multiplayer is the only reason this game is active today.
@@productions1203 agreed if they made it longer, i think the plot of going over to the rebels definitely would have fleshed out better because, we don't see a tipping point for them on seeing the empire's atrocities, like no real build up. Del talks about it but for us viewers that doesn't really mean much.
I wish the sequel trilogy took place right after episode 6 With new republic fighting the remnants of the empire Cause i feel like thats most interisting part of the story that is mostly unexplored Like how many stories show what happend after the so called "happily ever after" Like 3 or 4?
This game/campaign was beautiful. Having said that the story was fucking terrible. Iden is single handedly the most boring Star Wars character I have ever seen. In fact the only cool new character this game brought us is Shriv. He has personality, whitty lines and happens to be an alien: definition of a Star Wars character. The story was pure trash. And why does Han Solo have to have a beard? And why does he have to be hanging out at Mos's Cantina? How about a new place we've yet to see? Aside from this negativity I think the game overall has made a huge comeback and has had me coming back to play it more and more. At first the multiplayer was garb but now..lots of fun. I have spoken.
I really hope we get to see more of the new republic taking out the remnants of the Empire. This is a super interesting era that is worth exploring and allows us to see more from the OT crew
Am I the only one who realised why Luke wanted that compass. (Spoilers for Rise of Skywalker) As we know, Luke was looking for the Sith Wavefider to get to Exagol. I believe this was part of his quest to find it. Another reason could be him searching for Jedi temples as well, but this is less likely as if the compass lead to a temple, the Emperor would have destroyed it. I love it when the movies and the games link together.
@@nikovan115 Poor planning, poor direction, poor scenario and absolutely everything you do can't have any consequences for the good guys. The plot armor has never been so thick.
@@joshbaker7701 I'm saying the compass was part of the clue. Not that it was a map to exagol. Luke never found exagol as stated in the film. Though in the ROS, he was very close in the end.
The emotes for her character are all terrible though. Sounds they they hired someone off the street. While her actual character had decent voice acting. I Don’t get it? Also Hask would have been a fun playable character. Amazing voice actor. Paul blackthorn is great
This story was pretty good all the way up until when they shoehorned Pussy McWhinyEmo into the end to kill Del, just so that they could set up for a sequel that they'll never make. It should have ended with the scene where they're looking over the battle field in triumph.
Dang Luke really suspected there was more to beating Palpatine than tossing him down a reactor shaft from the very beginning. I defend Star Wars to the end but it really feels like sticking Rian Johnson in the middle of the sequel trilogy messed up the whole thing. JJ’s true vision of building to the return of Palps will never be fully realized.
this campaign was better than I expected and they really did the pre existing characters justice, and the new ones are at least better than the ones from the sequel trilogy, only thing I don't like is they didn't have the balls to make an entire game about being the bad guy and had to make Iden join the rebellion so that's kind of a cop out, other than than it's pretty good ngl
