I've got a lot of good stuff to take to EA and plead our case for what we like, what we want, and what we want changed in the game. What video should I do next? B2 Super battle droids or maybe Clone Jet troopers? Watch out for those wrist rockets!
As someone who is primarily interested in single player combat, I'll be really bummed if they don't include galactic conquest. It's like EA doesn't want my money...
NeoSamurai13 it's just glorified skirmish, it will not come because it is a feature of the old games, DICE only implements features they made by their selves.
Skins being specific to certain maps could also help to actually make "cross era" heroes work to some extent. For example if you give Han an old man skin you could totally put him into the Sequel trilogy as a hero. Same with Chewie. For him you wouldn't even need a different skin. Those 2 could definitely be fighting in the Sequel battles. Should be something they could consider since they don't have that many options in terms of heroes for the Sequels from what I can tell
Heck if you drop Han's voice in the Prequel era, he could just be random hero with a pistol. Same goes for Rey, given what we've seen Jedi wearing in the prequels.
I hope EA doesn't nerf the heroes too much, since some people are saying heroes like General Grievous wouldn't be fair and overpowered. They are HEROES. They are suppose to be powerful. It seems like only the range heroes are powerful, while the close combat ones like Darth Maul aren't. The Jedi and Sith lords should be very powerful and be able to destroy soldiers.
Droidekas and Wookies are confirmed but I think they said they will be added later. Also this game mode is Galactic Assult, which will be multi stage and differ from planet to planet.
+puenboy1 well technically this battle never even took place that I'm aware of. The droids invaded but it was before the clone wars even began. The defenders should be Naboo security. Then Maul would be appropriate but they should have had Obi won or Qui gon
The point of having cross era anything isn't to hurt your authenticity or whatever, it's simply for gameplay. It makes it so that you can play your favorite hero, or use your favorite weapon on any map, and you're not restricted to playing certain maps or eras. Also since they're making things upgradeable, they want you to be able to use the weapon or hero you put a lot of effort and time into across the whole game. It also allows the game to be bigger, so you aren't restricted to about 5 different weapons or a few heroes in your favorite era and class. I love the fact everything is cross era.
necromancer1919 it looks like,the 2 skins are the only exclusive, and the others are like the DL-44 in the first EA Battlefront where you get it early but you can still get it through progression
Hey Baron, can you please tell me about the feeling of the fighting in the opening phase of the game as infantry? what i mean is if there is enough infantry because it just seems to me too many players will be tied up in vehicles, heroes or in the air to keep regular infantry engagements happening. From the gameplay i have seen it looks really exciting in the later phases because everyone is funneled into the palace, but infantry players look sparse on the outside areas. I think a slight player increase would be good, even 25v25 would be a good place i feel.
I think there should be a pool of colors and when a squad spawns they have that coloration. When a squad is wipe out,or nearly wiped out it is put back into the pool. Like if you agree
I would love to have an armor customisation mechanic, especially a paint-style feature, but I just know that the product of that would be countless clone troopers running around with dicks painted on their armor...
Hunter Emerson you will have customization. Probably like 501st and 212th and wolf squad skins. Nothing immersion breaking I'm guessing which is fine I like my wolf squad
I can't wait for Yoda and his jumping around thing. They should make one of his abilities where he picks up random debris from the ground with the force and throws it. It's just something he likes to do.
*Why Cross-Era heroes and weapons isn't a good idea.* First of all it breaks immersion, it's similar to helmet-less stormtroopers except it is even worse. It's also about consistency and continuity, if you see clones and droids, you're in The Clone Wars, suddenly you see someone like Rey or Han Solo and it just doesn't fit and it feels wrong. It shouldn't happen, and while it may be able to offer more variety on the surface, it detracts from the gameplay experience in multiple ways. Obviously it ruins authenticity and immersion, but it can also detract from the gameplay itself, and here's why. Having all heroes and weapons available across all eras simply turns all of these diverse eras into mere reskins of the exact same thing, as there is little to no difference in terms of gameplay, just the visuals. So you don't need to familiarize yourself with Clone Wars era weapons, Galactic Civil War Weapons, and Sequel Trilogy weapons. The same goes for heroes, except this has an even larger affect. Part of what makes having multiple eras so special is the fact that they don't just look different, they feel different, which adds a lot more to the game than if it only looked different. With cross-era heroes and weapons being limited to their respective eras, it adds a lot more to the game by making each era feel special and play differently. There is a different feel fighting during The Clone Wars than fighting during the Galactic Civil War for instance, due to heroes being limited to that era and weapons also being limited to that era. Thus, restricting weapons and heroes to their respective eras enhances the gameplay. It also means that more heroes and weapons will be used. What is often a plague in games is the fact that a specific weapon usually ends up being used a lot more than any other. With weapons being used in their own eras, more varieties of weapons would be used, rather than only a few major guns, there would be 3 times as many being used. With heroes being used in their own eras, there's more varieties of heroes that will be used. This helps players learn to use more weapons and heroes, and gives more overall variety to the game. It's for these reasons that it is essential for cross-era heroes and weapons to be limited to Hero-specific modes and not most game modes. 1. Cross-era play destroys authenticity and continuity of the Star Wars Universe. 2. Weapons and heroes being in their own era provides more diverse gameplay opportunities and variety as more heroes have to be used.(While on the surface it may seem like cross-era provides more variety, it really doesn't and is ultimately more restrictive. This is similar to how the Star Card system provided more variety than a class system on the surface, but eventually almost everyone was running around with the exact same load out and if they switched it they would be at a significant disadvantage, therefore are forced to use said load out if they wanted to have any fun. But classes, which restrict certain weapons and abilities ultimately offer a lot more variety.) For the exact same reasons, having heroes and weapons in their own respective eras offer more variety. 3. Not having cross-era heroes and weapons enhances the gameplay experience, as each era feels like something truly special and different from the others. With cross-era heroes and weapons, there isn't as much special about each era other than the visuals. Each era would feel the same, just reskinned. Weapons and heroes remaining in their respective eras allow for each era to be different, special in their own way, offer a different experience from the others, and not feel like the same thing with a different skin. And don't forget that some heroes can be cross-era without breaking continuity. For example: Chewbacca has fought across all 3 eras, and all they would need to do is give him a minor skin change for each era. Han Solo would also be cross-era(although 2 eras rather than 3 as he is in both the OT and ST), and would simply need a skin change. There's a time and place for cross-era play, that's in gamemodes like heroes vs villains, not in the large 20v20 gamemodes.
That OneGuy You reallu didnt have to explain all of this, because the cross era stuff was already said to be in special game modes and severs where its turned on. Also, people wouldnt take that serioisly like a historian, and seeing a matchup between Rey and Maul would actually be really cool. And why limit your players to the characters that they don't necessarily like, instead of letting them have the freedom to play their favorite characters at will?

That OneGuy Im not complaining about small issues because im not always looking for things to cry about. You said it yourself, Cross era gameplay wouldnt be a problem, so why are you even talking about it? And players are beginningly limited to the weapons they have to use so they can work their way up and play the game normally and experience it, instead of having everything handed to them
Neither am I, I'm looking for problems in the game and things that need to be fixed/changed. Can you please actually read what I'm saying, cross era gameplay is a huge problem in most gamemodes other than heroes vs villains. You are at this point putting words in my mouth that are contrary to what I said. The fact of the matter is that cross-era hero gameplay is a bad idea for most modes, and most people do not want it in modes other than hero-specific ones like heroes vs villains.
That OneGuy And I never said that cross era was okay for other gamemodes. Can you read what I AM saying? Because I literally just said that theyre going to have a specefic setting for it. I was just thinking in my head that heroes va villains would be the only good game mode for that by itself. And its not ruining anything if players have the choice to pick servers where cross era is aloud or not aloud.
Hey Baron! I have a question! It seems like a lot of people, including yourself, are using the "Heavy" class. Is that class very superior to the others or how come it is so common to see at this point in time? What is so great about that class? :)
TheMysteriousSwede It's so annoying when you're about to flank as specialist, but then all of a sudden there are a billion lasers flying through the door, and you get shredded in less than a second.
Heavy class is not overpowered it's just that it has a faster shooting rate but takes a bit of a while to cool down ur weapon to then be able to use it.
Destruction in the Battlefront Series: Shield Generator on Hoth in Battlefront 1 and 2. Small destructible doors and objects in Battlefront 2. Destructible Frigates Battlefront 2. Destructible Ion Cannon Battlefront Elite Squadron. Destructible Capital Ships Battlefront Elite Squadron. The damn PSP games had more destructibility than the first 2 Battlefronts and 2015's Battlefront. I dont know why they are shying away from stuff like this, when the community WANTS and is trying to push for this.
I think they should make fighter controls more complex not only so that it feels more redeeming but so that it takes more skills to straffe ground targets. That was the fun of the a-10 in bf, you could wreck, but strafing required a slight learning curve
this brings me back to my point where it's limited to 20 vs 20 in my opinion the player count could be 20 vs 20 along with 20 other Droid and Clone bots yes the real player count would be limited but the bots could possibly make it a whole lot better with the more bigger battlefield feel honestly I would love to see this and also the change to real player counts would depend on the map, time, and era where the battle is taking place and to make it more of that battlefield they could add bots this is my opinion on how they could possibly change that
Hey Baron, do you think that when storming the palace there should be a timer for it instead of a counter of droids on the top or is it good as it is?? As in a timer to end the round instead of killing certain amount of droids.
As far as environment destructability id like to see some but not a as large amount as the battlefield games. I'm talking about stuff like windows breaking, vendor stalls exploding and fruit everywhere, maybe some pillars or towers blow up. Some just not a lot.
they should add like a way to customize armor for all soldiers(especially the clone war era). I was thinking maybe something like destiny 2, where you make a clan and then your clan colors can be seen on your armor. For star wars it can be called like"divisions" or something like that. It would have the same function as a clan, but each member could unlock customizable items based on either individual rank in the clan or the clans rank as a whole. just putting my 2 cents into the thing cause the clones were so diverse in terms of armor and regiments, so it would be cool to see it in game.
True Starfighters are not airplanes but probably would behave like a aircraft when flown in atmosphere with drag lift and other effects that happen on aircraft, it is stated that Starfighters do have lower top speeds and other characteristics when flown in atmosphere in a few books on ships and Starfighters that are out there for star wars.
The devs have already said there will be cross era weaponry, maybe cross era heroes. Wookies have been confirmed as a special class for some maps, it will definetely be 20 v 20.
Most of the stuf talked about has already been answered. The reason Yoda wasn't in the demo was because it's taking a while for them to balance him because of his hitbox.
Dice could absolutely implement all the flight controls we aces desire. Just look at Ace Combat VI: Fires of Liberation. Imo that game executes flight controls really well, including free looking in the cockpit (which is really immersive).
hey baron do you think the air crafts should feel a bit heavier it look were floaty but not too heavy that you feel like you are a real plane but enuff heavier that it doesn't feel like you are aircraft what doesn't above the laws of physics
question: is there gonna be any like cross era battles like rebels vs droids cuz I don't want that and are specific clone factions gonna be stuck to like specific maps like droids on hoth cause if so that would suck
I also played Star Wars Elite Squadron an in that game you get in a starfighter in the atmosphere an then go up into the space and fight in space and I was hoping that would come back because I loved it
All in all I don't mind Rey or Han here, plenty of Jedi during the Prequel Era as well as random guys with blasters, so they don't stand out too badly. Rey during the OT would though. I think droids would be viable in virtually any era given they're droids so they could be activated to fight anywhere, or should I say anywhen? Boba is kinda an oddball here, like Baron mentions.
I think that the heros where in the game just because they wanted to show some of the new heros like Darth Maul and two of the heros from last game so they can compare them to the last game or just to have more than 1 hero available.
they should bring an operation mode like in battlefield. Where there a 4 stages and each effects the next 1: Space. winner has a foothold in stage 2 2: Air 3 and 4:Land Also, will there be a first person option overall cuz i wamt to be the characters even during the abilities not see them
20v20 from a gameplay point of view is usually better actually (judging fromm battlefield at least). Its far less chaotic and more skill focused which is important if the game is meant to last longer than a few weeks. Bigger battles just have a bigger wow effect when you start playing. Unless the map is big enough of course but thats not the case here.
Actually there will be cross era blasters... the game designer said it himself, he said he did not want people not being able to use there favorite weapons because its not the right era...
The game looks great but I agree with you in regards to the addition of controls about the other axis. I will buy this game on the one condition that they add galactic conquest and better flight controls. It will be very disappointing if they don't considering how EA has been advertising how they are trying to listen to the community since this will prove quite the contrary.

What do you mean? They have super powerful abilities (for the most part, but they need more balancing, it's just pre-alpha) and a ton of health. Plus not all heroes have lightsabers

Well yes they are starfighters but they should still have those controls. They obviously have them in the movies and series. It wouldn´t make sense realistically to not have them. RCS thrusters in atmosphere (apart from making little sense to use) would control pretty much the same as said controls.
The actual reason they won´t give those is because they want this game to be casual/accessible. WHich probably would be slightly less the case if the fighters were "hard" to control. I think thats a mistake but EA isn´t exactly known for being bold.
Also a big problem with that plan is that if its casual their planned "make money with skins" system will probably not work well. All games that make a good profit with cosmetics are highly competitive. Competitiveness is pretty much the only way you can *keep* a play base over longer amounts of time and not just get them to buy a game.
sswbf 2 is gonna have multi era heroes and multi era weapons because it adds more to gameplay. the game is being made for fun not "realism" because star wars isnt real, and isnt it hilarious to see droid carrying a first order heavy blaster
Boba wore his dads armor, he had just repainted it and kept his helmet, but he did add bits and pieces of other Mandalorian armor to his dads. And the age thing, we can just use our imagination lol, all we need to know is that Boba was in the Clone Wars and he did wear his father armor, just repainted.
Let's be real here. I dislike the cross era heroes but why is no one complaining about the Clone Troopers? There weren't any Clones Troopers in Episode 1, it was mainly city police and a bunch of Gungans.
I don't think it's fair to say that Theed shouldn't have boba, Rey, and Han Solo because it's only a pre-alpha build. I would be HIGHLY surprised if eras crossed over on maps. The amount of detail they've put in so far is insane so why not give EA the benefit of the doubt?
I don't understand why no one wants cross era stuff, it makes things more interesting, also some cross era weapons make sense, like a rebel using a dc-15
hope you saw my last comment and im happy to hear this time that you are not the one to only say how amazing it is (even if you try to be nice as you can, i think i get why :P ) and you know that amazing hate in comments here, other videos and other stuff connected to that comes from the fact, how people care about that universe. I hate that for sure, and i said in previous one why, im pretty sure im justified because of what EA was doing with games through last years and whats going on with Star Wars franchaise lately, but even after that, it would be a lie if i say im not melting at all while looking on that beautiful arc troopers. How i said, the more i care, the more ill hate because of many flawless i see here
Everybody stop! stop going on about player size comparing to battlefield. Battlefront is its own game and theoriginals were not big either so there is no change.
There should be a gamemode where you can attack both sides where you start out on your ship (Star destroyer or Rebel Cruiser) and you have a free choice of staying and protecting your ship or you can fly a vehicle and defend out in space or you can fly over to enemy ship and board it and attempt to get to the control room. Game is over when you kill the other teams pilots. There will be three classes and you can switch them when you die. The gunner his job is to shoot down rebel star fighters (He will have a light pistol) the next class is pilot where your job is to keep the ship in orbit and stay alive because your the target for the other team. And the last class is you guessed it soldier where you job is to defend your ship from direct attacks star fighter attacks and board the other the other teams ship and Kill all of there pilots.
