A Star Wars video essay looking at the Star Wars films and the TV shows, with examples of good and bad dialogue. In this video I touch on The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and the new Star Wars films with Rey. #starwars #videoessay
You make some good points, I hadn't quite considered how phrasing can betray a characters understanding and how that tone constantly changing makes the writing feel worse. I do wish you had addressed Andor a bit, especially given how much of the background footage was from it. Also for the future I would suggest being mindful about picking what to show when, take 8:28, when you tell us to contrast it with, but everything you were showing was Andor Clips, so it really was setting the expectation for an Andor snippet, but then the Rey scene cut in. Other than that, enjoyed the video, hope you have a lovely day!
Thanks for the vid. I agree that the dialogue in the prequels could have been more nuanced and layered and less quippy. I don’t take them as bad scenes tho.
Oh they're awful scenes and the new films were appalling. No cohesion between the 3 films. No plan. Terribly written. Crap dialogue. Actors were totally underused and wasted. Couldn't get through the last one while sober.
