Star Wars Jedi Survivor PC Is Still A Mess: Will It Ever Be Fixed?

Love these videos holding devs accountable for broken games far into release cycle.

If this game launched with perfect performance, there is no doubt it would have made a nomination for game of the year. BG3 would still easily win. But it would have been nominated at least.

Respawn entertainment is a good example of just because they make good games doesn’t mean they’re good devs

Well they didn't fix Fallen Order either and they were rewarded with huge sales for the sequel, so why should they change now

I _loved_ the first one, Fallen Order, and was prepared to pick this one up asap, but held off because when it comes to any game, especially a PC one these days, the odds of a game being a technical disaster or disappointment are exceedingly high (in terms of being remotely acceptable with how often it occurs). I guess I should be happy I didn't waste the money, even though the game itself seems just as good as it should be.

This is why I don't pay full price for newly released games. I'd be so angry if I had shelled out €60 for this and it _still_ performed so poorly on my PC.

They got the money already, so no.

Just drink a load of beer before playing, that will smooth out performance problems in any game....and make it more fun, in fact being wasted makes everything more fun and bearable

This is definitely a good and needed series.

It's still a mess on PS5 as well. From the inside of the cantina sometimes not loading in, to characters T-posing when traveling to other planets, the hyper space traveling animation doesn't always work and in the tombs when turning the camera there's white boxes that pops up around the edges of the screen before the environment loads in properly. I've learned my lesson after Jedi Survivor and Immortals of Aveum, not to preorder games by EA anymore. I will wait to see if there is issues first. At least the Dead Space remake turned out fantastic this year though.

I do feel bad that I love the gameplay and story so much I bought it anyway. Yes, it stutters and has major frame rate problems on Koboh but I still enjoy it. However, it does make me feel like I'm in an abusive relationship though.

I intended to play this on PC but held off due to your and other reviews. I ended up getting it on PS5, and even though they've fixed a lot of the performance, there are other issues. I hit a game breaking bug where a particular cut scene wouldn't trigger, and I couldn't progress the game. I stepped away out of frustration, and tried again after a couple of days and it worked, but I wasted hours trying to google for solutions. Great game. Many problems.

We really really need to stop expecting developers to fix their game post launch. They have 0 obligations to. Its a gesture of good will. If we continue to purchase this way then gaming companies will continue to take advantange of the fact people are willing to buy now to hope for a complete/fixed product later.

Can we Sue game Devs for not releasing finished products? How would you feel if you bought an half done iPhone or half done prebuilt PC etc? There has to be Consumer laws on this kind of thing.

This was the exact same problem Jedi: Fallen Order had. When I first played the game, I was running on HDDs, so I could attribute the stuttering to that. But last year I tried running it on rigs with well above the recommended specs, and it still stutters. Not as badly as my first playthrough, but it's always there.

Devs are at fault but how is that every unreal engine game has some kind of stutter issues? That engine just sucks imo.

Forget smoothness, worst part of the game for me is how it doesn't render at 100%. I play on a 21:9 widescreen so Jedi Survivor always looks blurry or watery.

Playing now on PS5. The only bug so far has been where things turn black and you can look through everything, it happened once. Played about 15 hrs.

Imagine being "bottlenecked" in a singleplayer game with like 5 enemies at once on the screen. That is insane. I have never seen a worse triple a game perfomance, besides 2077. But Cyberpunk got fixed and looks three times better. Mind boggling.

Wow even a 4090 can’t help. 😅 Also the original had these stutter issues also… especially on console I just couldn’t play it. That first open area had crazy stutters even on a ps5 with Vrr on.

I've yet to try to manually turn off the Ray Tracing in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor since the Steam updates somehow failed to mention it to make it past Koboh after the first mission on Coruscant. If that stops endlessly constant freezes from preventing the entire progress of the game it would be utterly priceless compared to overall slower than normal gaming movements as a whole. What pissed me off the most about the stuttering was when the overall gaming movements stopped for a few seconds as I remember clearly happening occasionally to me in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Just started the game with gamepass, I have 16:10 monitor, ui in save menu and some others are not fitting the screen, but pause menu is normal. This issue was known since release but it's still there.

Did patch 8 released on January 11th improve anything? Patch notes say "This patch also incorporates some fixes for performance and stability across all platforms."

It sucks cuz I was able to find a sweet middleground for playing Survivor, but I cant find ANY settings besides setting everything below medium to play the ubisoft Avatar game with performance that doesnt make it awful to just move around. 3080TI and 5900x I should be able to play on high/medium at 1440p with DLSS on. Thankfully that has a really good console port.

In my 1st playthrough I haven't faced a single issue, the stuttering happened on my ng+ playthrough (my 2nd), in the beginning there was no problem, but when zee got captured and I decided to go to the lucrehalk my fps started dropping to 5-15 fps and my gpu usage dropped to 20% and then went up to 100% then dropped to 5% . I'm really upset since I'm a really big fan of the game, though the poor optimization had me stop playing it. One thing to mention is that this issue happened after I updated my gpu driver, but I downgraded my driver yet the issue remained. I've tried the ReSize bar fix, turning off XMP, downloading the performance mod, setting my framelimit to 60 (though it won't make a difference since my monitor is 60 fps), and attempting to lower my settings (but the stuttering remained). I will say this again, I really loved this game and had it in my Top 5 list, but EA is always an expert in ruining what you love.

Yep, still a disaster. Just bought it on Epic with the 33% discount, but it's a total mess. I downloaded a 100% save game and went on Koboh to test it, my specs are: i5-12400 32gb RAM 3070ti 1TB SSD G-sync monitor I have tried with some of the Stutter "fix" mod on nexus, but they barely reduced the problem. The only way I got to play it """"Decently""""" was to install the FSR3 mod while I had G-sync and V-sync forced on in the control panel. With FSR3 mod I was able to reduce the number of 1% lows, but it was still very unstable and had bad FG artifacts... This game has another big problem: due to the bad TAA implementation there are ghosting artifacts around the character when you move the camera. If you have a rtx card you can remove them by swapping DLSS.dll file with the newer 3.5.10 version and turn on dlss, but it shouldn't be on our end to fix their broken aa.. After all the test I did I decided to refund it, not worth a penny It's crazy that these games are allowed to launch and sold to us. In my opinion EA/Respawn should be reported as fraud and the game should be removed from the stores till it's fixed, like it happened with arkham knight

This is reason why i stopped buying games on day 1. Because its release first and fix it later mentality... I'll wait a year or 2 until I make the purchase.

im playing on RTX3060 on 2K high setting, dlss on while most of the time the game runs smoothly, the weird stuttering still happens quite often, the fps can drop to 40 in many places, especially when fighting huge beasts

after 1hour of triying settings, installing some "fixes" and finishing the first stage (corusan) i got my first crash and i said to myself, yeah i am not feeling it. 100% with you guys is such a shame...

2023 was a real bad year for Pc players but an amazing year for video games on other platforms. Still that many bad ports in one year is a really bad sign for future pc games.

I hope someday a fan patch can do what EA can't. I really want to play this game, but I really don't want to get a console just for this one game.

How does it fair when capped at 30 fps? I bet the stutter is next to nothing.

The only hope is maybe the last gen port forces some engine optimizations or the last gen ports could just be 720p30 lowest settings

Somehow, my Rtx 4090 can´t run this game, but my 2080 at 1440p, runs very well. It's strange indeed. 2024-07-02!

Bought it on Epic on the summer sale in December and it even lags for me when the splash screen plays out lol... My Pc might be old but not bad by any means: 2TB Gen 3 NVME, I9 9900KF, 32GB of ram and a RTX 3070. This is still be a beast of a system!

The game also doesn’t function properly on 16:10 displays, despite having the options in the settings. If you select any 16:10 resolution the game looks fine, but menus and UI elements stretch off the screen. So if you try to fix it by choosing a 16:9 resolution, the game stays in 16:10 but is squeezed. So without external fixes like Special K, players with 16:10 screens are just SOL. This was actually brought up on the EA forums, and the “Accepted Solution” is no solution at all, just the community manager saying “huh, guess it isn’t supported lol” then saying (nearly a year ago) that feedback will be passed on to the team. After further criticism at the nothing response, they try to redefine the word “solution”, classic EA. This still isn’t fixed.

I would really like to know what's the reason behind this. Very experienced team with massive budget and one the latest versions of UE4 and yet it's like this...

I got the game a few weeks ago during a 50 percent off sale for $35. I have a 3080 RTX graphics card and I'm NOT impressed with the way the game handles with an average framerate of 30-60 fps. Disappointed.

Everyone should stop buying EA games and just let EA slowly fade away.

i have a gtx 1060 6gb, 16 gb's of ram, and an amd radeon 5 2600, i had some stutters, ultra low graphics, but i loved it, it wasnt that bad. loved the story, gameplay, customization, whatever. I shouldnt have been able to play it considering my pc, but i managed to, even if the game looked like crap sometimes, i loved it. maybe im just a star wars kid and i will love games like these, but im glad i was able to play it.

My number one issue on PC was honestly image quality. The FSR implementation just RUINED the image to an absurd degree. And with the performance issues turning it off wasn't much of an option if you wanted ray tracing. Turning RT and FSR off improved the game MASSIVELY for me and I ended up really liking it. But the technical issues were still not okay.

I didn't notice any issues when I first launched this game back in September but since I returned to it last week I've had so many crashes - especially in that town on Koboh that you show footage from, and get that weird stuttering when turning the corner, which seemed to overflow at some point to just make the game crash 10+ times over the span of 3 hours, losing me 30-45 mins of progress at one point (because I was doing things with plenty of stims available and item collection chores). It's annoying that EA/Respawn don't take more pride in their product, since it's also a pretty good game otherwise.

My game Constantly crashes with a “not enough VRAM” error on a brand new 4070 TI Super w/ 16GB vram :/

Played it on gamepass for 14 hours before anything really happened that was crazy. It stuttered here and there but it didn't bother me but today idk it suddenly seemed like it decided to compile shaders again. Like 5 frames that slowly got better until it went back to what it was. I'm like right on the line for recommended spec.

I will say, using AMD's fluid motion frames made the gameplay experience much better. The higher latency was a good trade for high fps.

I was playing right now but had to give up cuz the stutter and the fps drops were horrendous, my Cal also got stuck in a level without the elevator and I just uninstalled it.

Have you guys tested patch 8 yet? I wonder if anything has improved....

How is the console versions?

I got the game at a big discount in December and the first ting I grappled with was running out of VRAM (on an 8GB video card). I knew there were problems going in, and decided to mod it (which helped generally, but the mod caused consistent crashes in about ~4 cutscenes) and edited pagefile settings as well (I don't know if this helped or not, but I never had a VRAM issue after that). Basically, an awful experience just to get a game working-ish. Still with some stutters, mostly on the main planet around the saloon. Sometimes I wonder if Unreal Engine has some flaws, because a lot of UE games seem to suffer from issues on PC. PC gaming is getting to the point where I can't really recommend getting into it anymore. From NVidia's insane pricing, rampant motherboard issues to games that release in such a state, where you can't overpower their issues with sheer performance anymore. Modding is cool, and so are emulators, but if you don't care about them a console (sadly) the better option. I couldn't imagine writing something like this 4 years ago.

So this game is currently on sale on steam for £27. Is it still terrible performance wise? I did enjoy the first one but have held off... On PC. 3080 5800X3D

4080 and I get hella stutters. My buddy has an amd 7900xtx and said he set his target fps in the Radeon software to 60 and he has no stutter….wtf

I’ve wanted to buy this game on PS5 for the past year, but I just can’t bring myself to do it knowing all the technical issues it has. I’m sure I’ll finally pull the trigger once it’s dirt cheap.

Just got it on GamePass for PC in W11. HDR is broken (or the settings don't seem to do anything) and it is still choppy. 5800x with a 3080 :/

I finished the game but did play couple boss fights in story mode, it was just too painful between camera, stutter

The funny thing is, that Jedi Fallen Order runs smooth on the Steam Deck with SteamOS when you lock it at 30FPS (high settings) or 40FPS (medium-low settings mix). I started playing Jedi Fallen Order on a stripped Windows 11 on the Steam Deck and the stuttering was horrific, specifically the traversal stutter. I quit playing, started the game on the Deck with SteamOS, with the same settings as under Windows and it ran smooth as butter! It was a great console like 30FPS experience! Only framedrops I had was in the last scene when Darth Vader did his Darth Vader thing.

How EA hasn't been sued over this BS by now is beyond me - game after game being released in what can only be described as Alpha/Beta build is unacceptable. 20/06/2024 - still broken / 3700X - 4070 Ti Super - 32GB 3600Mhz - 1440p / Visuals are outrageously poor.

Does it still stutter if locked to 30-40fps

The game feels bad half the time it boots if it stutters i just restart it but my stutters have been fixed using 16gbs of my ram as a cache for my ssd and fsr 3

When you finish the game all the credits are rolling the LEGAL part basically says sold as a work in progress. It was £70 in the UK for a game that is sold unfinished are they are basically throwing it in your face but you don’t see that until you complete it.

i recently played fallen order and finished, and really wanted to play the sequel so installed, and doesn't not even an hour of playing and already goes like 4 crash, real shame. have a rtx 3080 Ti

just booted up this game on my 4070ti /Ryzen 7 5700x and wow...going from 85fps to 40fps in a split second every single time is jarring as hell! came to RU-vid and typed in stutter fix and came across the DF gang. thanks gents now I know it's not my end and the devs need to pull their head out of their ass to fix this mess. also, I heard they are porting this game to last gen!?!? WTF??? if they can't get it running on next gen hardware and powerful PC's then why the hell make it for hardware that is over ten years old at this stage.

Already on Jedi Fallen I had micro freezes. Yet tested with a 3080 and 4080 and same observation. So I ended up taking it on the PlayStation 5 to have peace of mind and play fluidly, a shame because even by lowering the settings I had excruciating freezes. So certainly on play not as high in fps or visual quality (although very correct) but at least it's fluid

Survivor just came to game pass and I can’t even load it on PC. Keep getting a video memory error. Mind you I’m running a MONSTER rig. 4090 i914900k all the works.

just finished the game on my series x its good but it randomly crashed 3 or 4 times during my 27hrs gameplay on performance mode one of crashes happened before i reach a meditation point to save my progress so yes its annoying because i had to repeat like 10min of gameplay again .. great game but it needs more fixes

Same here still haven’t gone back to finish it after latest patch and I enjoyed what I played,they are quick enough to move on and make number 3 it’s unacceptable. They lost my faith and last thing I’m doing is giving them a pat on the back for getting it finished in 3 years, I’m blaming Disney and I feel outlaws will have the same fate if rushed out the door.

I found a mod that helped a lot with stuttering. At this point it’s really just Koboh that stutters a little. Especially at the station and a few other places.

it still my game of the year, even though I enjoyed baldur's gate 3 as well, I just find jedi's gameplay way better

Here we are many months after premiere and patches arent coming at all since latest one. Game is amazing but its painfull to see fps drops etc

I thought Unreal Engine 4 was the problem but the fact that Lies of P looks that good and runs extremely well even on a N64 proves that these devs are just lazy AF...

Meanwhile, Baldur's Gate 3 runs at less than half the target frame rate for the largest & final act of the game (in PERFORMANCE MODE) on consoles... "Will It Ever Be Fixed?" - Probably not possible, yet we're cool with it because it's BG3.

Its so sad to see this. Its a great game but they have dropped the ball for so long fixing the performance issues.
