Hera is already connected to Andor through Rogue One. When the Rague Squadron are in the Rebel base, talking about next steps, a loudspeaker in the background stares “General Hera Syndulla, please report to…” I forgot where the disembodied voice told her to go, but she was on the base with Jen Urso, Cassian, Mothma, and probably many MANY more
Honestly, this is stuff we could have assumed back when those photos were leaked. He's the one to bring her to Hera and go to Yavin 4. It isn't a retcon, you're so right. I love how the show has these tie ins though. We got Saw in the first season and Krennic in this one. Genius.
I don't think this is a retcon but just fleshing out events within canon and the timeline and makes it clear how brutal the Empire was. Andor is more realistic and more adult.
Mon Mothma was petitioning for the rights of the Ghormans in S1 of Andor as well. easy to miss, but she name drops them at least twice. a clear lead-up to what we could see in S2
Retcon is the wrong word. Hera being part of the Rebellion and working with Mon Mothma isn't a retcon. Hera working with deep cover agents isn't a retcon. Hera being an Imperial Spy sabotaging the rebellion would be a retcon.
This is why Tony Gilroy kicks so much ass with Andor!! I sincerely can not wait for Season 2. It is going to be a VERY Happy New Year if this does come out in January!!!
This man knows his stuff. It's why I love his writing. He's like Dave Filoni, but better, I mean I love Filoni, but his involvement in the Acolyte has me worried.
I totally agree that Mon Mothma is very underrated, probably because she doesn't seem like the type of character that would sell a bunch of her action figures. She's as crucial to the Empire's defeat as Luke, Leia, or Obi Wan though.
The Ghorman Massacre was referenced all the way back in the mid/late 80s, in West End Game's Imperial Sourcebook, in the description capsule for Grand Moff Tarkin (IIRC).
Omg Rebels and Andor...u made my day!!!. I cant wait for season 2!!! My favorite show will always be Rebels. And im so happy that Im seeing the crew in live action in Mando and Ahsoka and now Andor. This will fit the timeline.
@@jackhilton4285 whatvare u talking about...of course is gonna be epic...Andor exist in the star wars galaxy, aliens, force users and droids exist...stop trying to make Andor seperate from all the star wars show...it just ruins the experience.
@@ScooterDoge why do u feel sorry for? I love those shows. U might not, and thats ur opinion. Pitying me liking what u dont like is insulting. If u dont agree with me then dont comment on my comment. I wont be swayed by ur opinion.
Pretty sure we also got an Ezra Bridger mention in the Andor 2 trailer. During the early seasons of Mando, I thought the Arc Pulse Generator might explain why Mandalorians reverted to living in hidden Coverts, only revealing themselves one at a time... but Mando never really went anywhere with that, alas.
I am dying to see a high stakes escape for Mon leaving Coruscant! There is actually video footage of her and Cassian running on set in Valencia Spain, too. I agree with Meg. We will see the Ghorman massacre, maybe a speech from the Emperor, and Mon decrying the Empire and fleeing in a tense escape piece!
Hi Meg, awesome news update, congratulations on reaching 135 thousand members, very interesting, video Meg on both shows connections and I am mega excited about seeing the show, thank you SWM
Ok, well I guess if they are going to link Rebels, my favorite SW show, with Andor then I guess I need to get around to watching it. As always, thanks for the update. :)
Good book, and yes I believe this makes Sabine’s confession in tge trial of the dark saber that much more distressing. To say nothing of what she going through about being the last living wren.
Oh Meg you deserve to have over 1mil subscribers your doing such an amazing job at providing great Star Wars news with no toxic hate and pure love for the universe
Yep, like others said, retcon is continued to be misused here and across the internet. A retcon is about literaly changing the how of something that happened (aka Kanan has a little bit of one in terms of what happens during order 66), not "adding" on to or connecting to something that happened (aka some of the stories from new Phantom Menace comic and/or additional details that are often presented in the novelization of feature films).
It would be a cool plot point if the tension between her, her husband, and her daughter is just a ploy to throw off Imperial spies and her husband and daughter secretly support her.
Thanks for explaining this connection. I did know who the people were that the sounds came from. That even makes it more horrible then it seemed in the show. Which was pretty bad.😔
If we’re connecting Andor with Hera and Sabine, then Star Wars needs to include Omega from Bad Batch. This will be needed in developing Omega’s character if she is to be captured by Thrawn, rescued by Asajj, Boba, and Fennec, realize her blood will be used for resurrecting Palpatine; learning the Force, the Jedi and Sith, the Night Sisters and Knights of Wren, and assassin martial arts; to be ready for her ultimate and strategic epic battles with Thrawn.
I think it’s other around..I think Andor kicks off before it. In Rebels they did not really join the Rebellion until season 3? In Rebels they also said the Rebellion was bunch of fractions and became one unit as time went on. I would love for Andor and Rebels to connect !!
from what I understand season 1 of Andor and season 1 of Rebels both take place in 5 BBY. 5 years before A New Hope. I believe this season of Andor will be broken into 4 sections of 3 episodes each consisting of 1 year. Rebels I believe broke down to 1 year per season. The shows mirror each other in a way timeline wise I think.
He might just help her escape TO the ship that leaves and isn't actually ON the ship that leaves. Or, in the show, he may use a different name and actually BE one of the rebels we DO see in the cartoon (just shaved).
As much as I like the ghost crew and it really enjoyed Star Wars rebels I hope they can keep Andor separated from that Andor, and Rogue on seem so much more serious films, no reason to mix them in.
Not sure they're retcons. Hera was on Scarif. She could as well have met and worked with Cassian. Love the Rebels connection! In season 1, Mon Mothma tried to fight for Ghorman rights.
Reading the comments about how the fans hope that this and that event to be in Andor S2 is exactly how Kenobi and Boba Fett were made....not good writing, but cameos and fan services. People seem to value that more lately, hence Deadpool and Wolverine movie. 🙄 I'm just glad Gilroy is a competent writer and doesn't give a shit about what pleases the fans, rather focused on good writing.
I've heard they are removing the disney films from canon and rebooting so canonically andor won't die. Hopefully hell be the cannon kyle katarn and become a jedi
if it follows disneys inability to stay focused on lore Id suspect that they are just going to retcon filonis rebels and they have nothing to do with her escape.
When are we finally gonna see live-action versions of Doctor Aphra, Sana Starros & Magna Tolvan? Talk about a potentially fun group of characters to see make that leap & perhaps get a TV series.
Is that what the Ghorman massacre is in canon? just imperial troops killing people? that happens all he time. In legends, it was Tarkin himself, and protesters were blocking his landing pad, but he just landed on them instead. a lot more interesting than just another stormtroopers shoot civis situation.
Sooooo out of curiosity….if you saw ANH and then saw ESB. Would you say they “retconned” that Vader was Luke’s Father all along and that Leia was his sister OR might you say it was revealed that Vader was Luke’s Father and Leia was his sister. I could only imagine how every review of the Prequels might go. It was Retconned that Obi Wan was not Anakin’s Master and in fact became something known as a Padawan Learner .
Hopefully, her chauffeur, CLORIS !...lol, realizes about his handler & helps her escape(or he's really a Rebel Scum plant). The look he gave Lt. Blevins when he left him in his office to go see about the Kreeger attack , is pure hatred. Throwing the spoiled Perrin under the bus is so deserved. Her daughter wants to marry the child of Davo Sculden to get back at Mommy. Family problems absolved.
Ah, and we already see the backlash here. "How DARE you get animated Filoni contamination in my pristine "mature" perfection of Andor!" HaHa. My heart bleeds for you.
Who is saying this? Andor is my favorite Star Wars project, but I love the idea of integrating plot points from previous shows like Rebels. Since the timelines already overlap, this actually makes the most sense from a narrative perspective.
@@xavierchamberlain1964 Uhnn, look at a few of the other comments here? By the way I MYSELF completely agree with you. I liked Andor, too. Just the constant "everything should be LIKE ANDOR now" and the condescension over the last couple of years has hit my gag reflex.
@@kenle2 Yeah, I agree that people definitely shouldn't be condescending when they make their points. Within the fanbase, people like Star Wars for different reasons, so if one group acts like its vision for Star Wars is superior to everyone else's, then they're stepping out of line. That being said, I don't think the "everything should be like Andor" argument is a bad thing on its own. After all the mediocre/bad content that the fans have had to endure over the last several years, I think it's good for fans to be able to point to a project like Andor and use it as a reminder that Star Wars CAN still be good. Andor treated its audience like adults; it didn't feel the need to spoon-feed plot-points to viewers through clumsy dialogue like almost every other recent (non-animated) Star Wars project. I know that the dialogue-heavy, "slow burn" style of Andor is a turn-off for some people, but personally, if I had to pick one recent Star Wars project that represents the best course for the future of Star Wars, I would absolutely pick Andor. I'll be curious to see what the reception to Andor season 2 is like. Since it sounds like there will be more action and more of a connection to established characters from other projects, my hope is that it will appeal to a wider audience than the first season did. That way, the people who liked the first season will (most likely) still like the second season, and the people who didn't like/didn't watch the first season will now be more interested in the second season. Ultimately, it would be great to see Star Wars fans unite in appreciation of something that they all can enjoy (kind of like with season 1-2 of The Mandalorian).
Hopefully, the 2nd season of Andor is good and not another snoozefest. I haven't paid for Disney+ since Ahsoka and don't plan to for Andor either. Especially after The Acolyte. Friend paid and I saw it and will never pay Disney another cent.
hate the misuse of Retcon. Retcons are something that could not fit into timeline or a show because conflicts with previous episodes. This dont even come close to a retcon
The last thing Andor needs is the cartoonish touch that Filoni adds to everything he does, so I hope we see nothing from Rebels in this show. It'd be like mixing A New Hope with Young Jedi Adventures.
Andor doesn't really need to be connected too much, not to the level of all the other series where connections are used as fan service, it can be in the way of good storytelling. The connection I do appreciate is Saw Geurera (Forrest Whitaker) as he's instrumental in showing the differences in morals and intent of rebellion. I'm not too sure the Rebel's characters add such meaning.
