The way he just runs away like a little bitch while Mission, practically a kid, has enough balls to dare the Dark Lord himself to kill her never ceases to amuse me.
Bastila: Don't give in to the dark side, dark side is bad mkay - 2 trips later - Bastila: I've finally seen the true power of the dark side I will no longer be a pawn of the Jedi Council.
Right.....I am playing Dark and so getting tired of Bastila's whiny attitude and feel like....dang shut up....you kissed me earlier and you just said earlier you like how I do what I like and don't worry about the consequences and then you whine when I kill or mess with people in an evil way. She is one messed up lady for sure.
I can't help but imagine this guy's character as being renegade Shepard. Bastilla: "All our enemies will be wiped out in one glorious day!" Revan: "Report to the ship as soon as possible. We'll bang, okay?"
That’s what always got me with Darkside play throughs, even with the Jedi. You show up on Dantooine after the destruction of Taris with your disgusting ass face smelling of the taint of the Darkside, and they’re like, “we should train him to use the force!”.
That's why I had my dark side playthrough started out light and thus providing a reason why the Jedi trained Revan. Upon realizing the truth, that is when Revan started the descent to the dark side on Korriban. I had the spare Mission mod so I could make my dark side Revan more sympathetic and someone who didn't want to kill everyone but was deceived and his anger clouding him.
Admittedly, this ending is more badass and darker than every other Dark Side ending for SWTOR. You betray the Jedi, kill your friends, eliminate your threats, corrupt your allies, defeat Malak, get the girl, use her to turn the tide of the space battle, and then become the reborn Emperor of a new Sith Empire. In the words of Conan, what is best in life? "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women!"
I want a free DLC for SWTOR that expands all the dark side endings for the Republic and light side endings for the Empire. For example, the Jedi Knight turns to the dark side, and leads a Sith attack on Tython, murdering every Jedi, including the council. The Bounty Hunter stops taking jobs from the Empire, and only accepts Republic contracts.
Apeiron is there. I sincerely hope it doesn't get shot down. The game is incredibly immersive already. With the graphics/surroundings up to modern standards and some additional gameplay tweaks it will be a nostalgia fest!
"not even bioware" - Bioware is a giant disappointment now. Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition, Mass Effect 2 and 3, SWTOR. They were the RPG gold standard now they are just producing Mainstream bullshit with minor RPG elements. I don't even want to imagine how they would ruin this masterpiece.
Revan: "a week" Bastila: "what?" Revan: "you were only captive for a week" Bastila: "Yes, but i've seen the flaws of the jedi council and now I-" Revan: "Did you even try to fight back?" Revan: "you've spent like 99% of your life building your jedi constitution to become fallen in six days"
Uganda Führer Trivia: That armor you obtain at the Star Forge is actually just Revan's armor but without the mask and the hood. I remember owning a mod that replaced that armor with an actual Revan's armor as seen in the cutscenes and in kotor 2 on korriban. And interestingly enough, the light side version of that armor also had a proper mask texture, despite the mod not adding or changing any textures whatsoever. Unfrotunately, with Filefront long dead, I don't think I'll ever be able to find that mod again (I also had a really cool texture mod for both Revan's armor and for Darth Malak, making the final battle look reaaaaally cool).
This ending is so wholesome, he fixes the galaxy and makes it a better place. He gets to live happily ever after. The Star Forge is a great place to raise kids.
It is certainly interesting setting in terms for rule of 2 Instead of Bastila ever trying to usurp Revan she resides by Revan's side as lover. Sure Jedi will someday overcome the odds against them in due time (Decades? Centuries? Millenia?) But
I somewhat like that KOTOR isn't canon because nothing is set in stone. How Revan acted before the events of the game and what happens after it is almost exclusively head-canon, and the player decides what happens in game. Knights Of The Old Republic is a near-perfect role-playing game for the SW universe.
+borek92 Kotor 2 was a massive let down. The story was odd, the atmosphere missed the mark, quite a lot of the locations seemed small and limited.. It was an enjoyable game, but even with the fully patched "complete" version it doesn't get close to the first one.
+Malc180s I disagree. KotOR as awesome as it was, it was just a cliche hero fairy tale, with a jawdropping plot twist. It was cool but nothing inventive really, nonetheless a really awesome game. Now, KotOR 2, it had problems with content being cut etc, we all know that. But man it was soooo different from original KotOR. Different in a new, good way. It left behind the sterotypes that Lucas left us with. Blue/Jedi - good, space messiah. Red/Sith = evil, villain and satanist. KotOR 2 was way more dark, way more mature. An M Rated Star Wars story one could say. You are right about story being "odd". Because this game was not like KotOR, it didn't really stand on story, it stood on characters and dialogue. Just think about how complex, how deep, how enigmatic and how interesting of a character Kreia was. It is in my opinion the best character ever written for a video game. The game showed us so many shades of gray morality, it really got player's brain going. It showed us how both Jedi and Sith religion are flawed and really... similar, in some twisted way. They were just two power parties disagreeing with each other. And the whole galaxy suffered a great deal of that disagreement. They both were narrow minded, stubborn and ignorant in their beliefs. And the galaxy payed the price. Then the Jedi still had the dignity to say they are worldsaviors. The game also explores The Force much more. No of that midichlorians bullcrap, it had so much depth to it. Again about the "odd" story, KotOR told the story of Jedi Civil War, KotOR 2 shows us the consequences of that war, in the darkest manner possible. This is no hero story like the original KotOR. Kreia tells us this herself : *Perhaps you were expecting some surprise, for me to reveal a secret that had eluded you, something that would change your perspective of events, shatter you to your core. There is no great revelation, no great secret. There is only you.* I admit that the Peragus intro is boring and linear, game still could use more fleshing out, combat is very unbalanced, as a Sith Guardian I was oneshotting bosses. Literally. I did oneshot Sion, twoshot Nihilus and twoshot Traya. It was riddiculous. PC is way too OP in the mid-to-end game. I remember playing KotOR 2 10 years ago, I was then 12 y/o and I loved KotOR, I had the same experience with KotOR 2 as you. I disliked it and was disappointed. I just replayed it last week and I fell in love with it. I am replaying KotOR 1 now and I am put off with the good/evil morality choices. I either help people, give them bonus medpacks and credits for a good measure, for absolutely no reason, or I kill them just because I feel like it. It really gets me out of the game, the binary system of morality. I think you should replay the game and bite deeper into its core. Listen to the characters, think about events that occured and really take a deep dive into this dark, dark aftermath of Jedi Civil War.
+borek92 I've played it through twice - once when it came out and once a couple of years back with the mods. I'm not saying it was a bad game, I just found it immensely unsatisfying. Sure, it's not a hero, good vs evil game like the first, but for me that just made it aimless. And fine, the good/evil and no grey area is perhaps a little frustrating in KOTOR1, but that's just star wars! With KOTOR1 the pacing was perfect, the intrigue throughout was huge, the characters were all fantastic, the way it ended was exciting and different to everything that had gone before.. It was all so perfectly star wars. And it was all so unexpected - I had no idea how much I'd get caught up in it.. KOTOR2 just always felt unfinished, and I remember thinking that within 30 minutes of playing it 10 years ago. That line of dialogue you quoted - "*Perhaps you were expecting some surprise, for me to reveal a secret that had eluded you, something that would change your perspective of events, shatter you to your core. There is no great revelation, no great secret. There is only you.*" - I always thought that felt like an afterthought in the story, some rubbish to tie everything together a little. I really think that was written to paste over the fact the game was 6 months from completion on release. Maybe it could've been a great game, but as it is it's just a disappointment.
Right.....reminds me of the fact that HK-47 in KOTOR II calls the Jedi Pseudo-pacifists. lol. True words that I agree with. i really need to re-install KOTOR II because it made sense the whole choices thing because I did something evil I peeved another character off and lost their influence, that's a bit more how real life is in many respects. I loved Kreia because of the way her mind works and she really knew how to string your npcs along. Whereas KOTOR I no matter how hard I peeve off Bastila, Carth, or Juhani they still stick with my character to the bitter end and in a dark side play through I am pretty sure Bastila hates my guts and yet still kisses my character and is in love with my character. That's so totally not realistic.
It seems that those who are seduced by the dark side sometimes have a selective memory. Bastila talked a great game about how the Jedi wanted to control and exploit her, but she completely ignored how Malak sadistically tortured her and only spared her life because of what the Jedi also wanted - to use her battle meditation to win the war. And there was that whole thing about how Revan, even as the Dark Lord of the Sith, wasn't immune to the threat of betrayal and was nearly killed by his apprentice. The Jedi may have erased his memory and hid their true intentions, but at least with the Jedi he was given a second chance.
Parkesc78 Let me clarify, that I prefer Dark Side on the sole basis of being more off-the wall entertaining. Most of the choices in KOTOR 1 are a little too black and white. Dark Side is just being an evil prick for the lulz, hence why I have such fun with it.
Caius Marius Indeed. Kotor 2 may indeed be buggy as hell, with shit tons of content cut out, but I just find it more riveting than the first game. The characters and soundtrack jibe better with me, and the game just does more interesting and new things with the lore instead of the usual black and white "Light side gud, dark side eviiiiiiil".
"And the force shall set me free." That's the Sith motto, yet you have NO choice but to kill Jollie, Juhani, and Mission. Screw that. I do what I want. I follow my passions, and those passions include blasting people who annoy me with lightning AND being nice to my friends. So I tell Bastilla to stuff it at the temple, then gleefully bring the wrath of the dark side down on her later on anyway,
+brian sheehan Yeah I know, Juhanni and Jollie do, but I would've sooner just left Mission behind than strike her down in cold blood- although making Zalbaar do it is so gloriously fucked up that you kind of can't not do it.
They should have made it an option for dark side players to kill Bastilla. "I will stand by your side as your lover and apprentice." "Until you betray me like Malak has, I don't think so..." *kills her
KotOR Light Side ending: You get a medal for cleaning up after yourself. KotOR Dark Side ending: You take over a factory and get a hot girlfriend. KotOR II Light Side ending: You stop the Jedi from being wiped out after all the Jedi have been wiped out. KotOR II Dark Side ending: You become a one-person Death Star, but hungry.
+Lemonademaz I actually had an idea for a game like this for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I would call it Star Wars: Knights Of The First Order. Basically, you play as a Knight of Ren and you get to choose whether you stick with the First Order and the ways of the Dark Side OR you can become a Jedi and follow the path of the Light Side.
Hey now, he told her to run, he didn't betray her. He gave her a fair warning haha. In all honesty, he shoulda been the one who got clipped, not Mission.
Emivader Is that the place reserved for child molesters and people who talk at the movie theater? (If you get the reference, then you are awesome, and can have all my supply of internets, and a cookie.)
The part where you force Zaalbar to kill Mission is just the must cruel thing I have ever done in any game, but hey, who is she to stand against my path to power. Besides I already killed my favorite character in the game back at the temple, so I guess one more of the good ones doesn't mean much.
I remember having to actually pause the game after that cutscene and take a quick crying break after I did that. By far the hardest thing I've ever had to do in a single player game.
@@matthewpeel8502 It was heartbreaking. I loaded an older save to go on the light path after that. It's also gotta be the most messed up thing I've ever done in a game. I know these are fictional characters but I just can't kill them. I only chose the dark side to see what would actually happen and if Bastilla would actually join us.
I spent my whole playthrough being as self-serving and evil as possible, ALWAYS full dark side. I was so corrupted, when Bastila offered to unite to defeat Malak, I knew the true choice was to slay her there. How dare she even pretend to be worthy of matching my power? I will slaughter everyone, Jedi or Sith, to become the ultimate force in the galaxy. Game: “you didn’t join Bastila so you’re a Jedi, here’s your victory medal and Malak calls you out for being a sniveling Jedi. Also, the council is so proud of you, you saved the republic” Oh :(
I'd argue that it's indispensible for dark side Revan to have Bastila at his side with his play for power. Not only is her battle meditation needed to ensure the Star Forge doesn't get destroyed by the Republic's fleet, but Revan needs Bastila to corroborate his/her identity AS Revan. With such an outlandish claim it really helps to have someone to back up your story.
I still love the loyalty that Canderous have for us because we are Revan. He doesn’t care about the political or which side of the force that we are on he is just always loyal to you no matter what.
Someone On Earth Well, red crystals aren't exclusive to the sith. It's just that the jedi would rather use natural crystals and the red ones are artificially created iirc.
Luke Woods. You not alone i really like badass female characters like dark side Bastila in Mass Effect for example i mostly play renegade femshep also both Bastila and femshep is voiced by Jennifer Hale one of best voice actress in my opinion
Don't know why I reply to 4 year old comment but alright am bored........Look imagine the power reven and bastila would have if they were on the dark side.and the probably the kinky sex as well am I going to far or no?
I would pay a fortune for an HD version of this - don't change a thing, just allow me to set a more up to date resolution and give me better textures\models.
My problem with most RPG's, especially older ones, is that when you try to run a villain you aren't running a well-written character. You are running either a complete douchenozzle (I.E: I did it for the evulz) or you are running the worst villain on the planet because you just happen to keep doing good things unintentionally despite the fact that you keep TRYING to join the big-bad but get betrayed after 11 nanoseconds because the villains all think to themselves "hmm, this guy keeps bringing me literally everything I am after while the rest of my agents fail miserably, better kill him" It leads to this retarded dynamic where your "Villain" keeps accidentally saving the world despite actively trying to skull-fuck it because the bad guys don't see the value in keeping your character around. At least this one does the ending villain choices well by making them seem truly evil and being successful in screwing over the universe, but the problem with this one is the path to get there is retarded because all of the evil choices up until this point fall under "douchenozzle" rather than "evil" why do no RPG's allow you to be a magnificent bastard rather than scumbag steve?
Jack Ream Thats why I loved playing Fallout and Skyrim, although they still don't achieve the potential they can get (You can join the Thieves Guild for example and do missions for them to restore their glory but thats about it).
Jack Ream You can start as you want to. You may be the "light side" character at the start and then turn evil when it's useful. The game itself doesn't make you the "douchenozzle".
Situations103 I said especially older ones, Modern RPG's are not exempt, but I would say Mass Effect, I will say right now that the Paragon/Renegade path is not good/evil, I will be the first to admit that. But I've always seen the renegade path as riding that very fine line between good and evil, with paragon being the very obvious 'Big damn hero' and Renegade being that ruthless type who does whatever the hell he has to for what he believes is right. Again this is NOT a good/evil scenario I am very much aware of it, but the character is well written no matter which path you take. Fable 3 is another RPG that did the specific good/evil choices justice, by making the "evil" path be the road taken for the purpose of ensuring everyone's survival and the "good" path, while still being quite possible to save everyone, was more time-consuming and difficult without the same guarantee. So whichever path you take you are continuing to run a pretty good character story, I.E: "I Did what I had to, to save us!" (Evil Path) or "What matters is not THAT we win, its HOW we win, and I will not sacrifice my humanity just to improve our chances" (good path) In older RPG's your characters fall into villainy can be summed up as "hey... Wanna blow up the world? Sweet lets do this" by no means is this done too much better in Modern RPG's but alot of RPG's with character driven stories lately don't even have the option of going evil, but the options and diverging paths they do have for their characters make sense. It's more relevant in older RPG's because when you choose to turn evil, the game just sort of runs out of justifiable reasons for your character to continue on the path the game is trying to make you walk.
Jack Ream Neither Mass Effect nor Fable have anywhere near as refined a moral alignment system as KOTOR's. Mass Effect's Paragon/Renegade "system" is just a overhyped interrupt mechanic, very simplistic and highly underused.
I think if they ever did a remake they'd add a way to corrupt Mission to the darkside, like nurture her rage for the destruction of Taris into something to corrupt and twist her. Maybe even make her force sensitive. Think that would be pretty great, would add a great deal of depth to becoming Darth Revan again.
@@ARandomSpace I know when I played I was able to influence mission to join me in the dark side and kill Zaalbar, but you got to influence her throughout the game .. Just like you can make Bastilla fall in love you or if you play as a woman Juhani will fall in love with you
chasm671 Please... save the psycho-analytic BS for your parents or someone who cares. My reason for not doing the Dark Side playthrough is partly because of this ending. The other reason is because I just don't want to. After all, this IS a role-playing game. You can play it however you want. If you want to kill Mission and be Dark Side, then what the fuck is stopping you? Certainly not me. Do it. I don't care, just like you shouldn't care what my reasons are for not playing Dark Side. End rant.
One of the things I find most endearing about this game is the casual dialogue referencing destroying civilizations and bathing temples in blood like it's a normal thing. Bastila almost comes across as childlike.
I'd love to see Bioware or another premier developer try something similar to Kotor again with modern graphics, soundtrack, voice and combat, and give both the dark and light some serious story heft. Kotor is still one of my favorite games, but it is showing its age now.
this ending never leave my mind, executing order 66 on the entire republic, magnificent, and I truly understand why Revan would turn back into the dark lord, not for the sake of power, but Bastila, the moment she said want to serve Revan as his apprentice and lover, think what hope of love they can have if they go back to the Jedi council, the passion the love turn Revan back into the dark lord
My god i would love to see a sequal though... I mean a PROPER sequal to this ending... Being an all powerful tyrant of unstoppable power, smashing through fleets, torturing anyone who dare stand in your way, the power to command legions, armadas from your own war room, flanked by elite guards... Daaaaamn...
Turn KoToR 2: Emperor Revan into a drawn out strategy and politics game? Hell yes! Imagine having to deal with feuding Sith fucking up your command chain, re-establishing Korriban as the Academy and its curriculum, planning your campaigns for your fleets and legions to subdue the galaxy as it forms a rebellion against your rule, establishing battle doctrines, (getting an heir, how could I forget?), fucking Manaan's neutrality with a tactical insertion team that cripples their leadership so that they can't even fuck up the kolto, establishing Jedi hunts, finding Carth and deal with him, convert powerful Jedi, occasional fleet to fleet combat when your fleet needs your brilliant guidance supported by Bastilla's battle meditation, establishing recruitment policies (those ships aren't going to man themselves), dealing with budget (oh god...), making deals with other powers or subdue or kill them (why not turn Czerka into state property? Or destroy the Hutt Cartel?), deal with ambitious Sith, get back Mandalore's mask and have the Mandolorians serve you as elite shock troops and trainers, the list goes on! Only to have it all come to a bad spot when the Sith Empire comes from Dromund Kaas, knocking on your Empire's doorstep and wanting to fight for the galaxy.
the one on the floor? there's a datapad on a dead soldier in the room before the room with the puzzle. it says to walk on the puzzle in the style of letter 'H'. it wasn't really that difficult, you just had to explore a bit, and not rush through :)
For me the most difficult task was the one in Naga Sadow's tomb on Korriban where you had to guide energy from one pillar to another. I literally had to write several pages on my notebook to figure out the sequence hehe
Same here. It was heartbreaking and I had to load an older save to go back to the light side. I only chose the dark side to see what would happen but when some of my favourite characters died I couldn't handle it. You've been through so much with them and it isn't right. I just wanted to see if Bastilla would actually join us in the dark side ending.
Choosing light side : You get the girl but got shoned by ungrateful jedi council despite your deeds to save galaxy because you had new idea to rebuild Jedi order and soon afterward got tortured by evil dark lord for 300 years Choosing Dark Side : You get the girl then rule galaxy for years to come so yeah it's obvious which is better choice if you knew what fate awaited Revan after this
Actually the Sith fight among themselves alot since their thirst for power consume themselves in the end. The Star Forge lead their original creators - the Rakatan to their fates of being only remnants of their former empire.
It is the only ending...you know it...it`s your destiny.Use you agressive feelings aswell as yor mouse cursor to click the right dialogue options, boy - and your transformation to the dark side will be comlete!
Max White 4 years late but I agree. I was full light side at that moment in my playthrough and was still given an option to just turn to the dark. Nothing I had done up to that moment mattered.
Damn. After two playthroughs on light side I decided I'd try dark side. But I'm just an all around decent person, you know. Not perfect, but decent enough to where I can't do anything dark side without cringing at what I just did. After seeing that part with Mission, I just knew I couldn't beat it as a dark character.
the main issue i find with dark side choices in star wars games is that most of the time their main purpose is not aiming for the goal regardless of consequences (which should be the most basic definiton of what's known as evil) but just being a douche for the sake of being a doiche. and that's not what 99% of people are like
yarpen26 Actually I'd like to counter what you just said. Looking at KOTOR, doing a pure Dark Side playthrough nets you more credits and experience. You don't have to believe me, you can find it on any walkthrough guide or tally up the points yourself. Also, along the dark side path, often times the dark side choices allow you to cut corners (ESPECIALLY if you have dominate mind which is awsome) while still reaping the rewards. What I'm trying to say is that the game itself counters your initial statement; the dark side DOES aim for the goal regardless of consequences and often times succeeds. The dark side play through is efficient and satisfying leaving you with a wealth of experience (both literal and figurative) and credits ;D The dark side play through may not be for the mild mannered, but it definitely is more rewarding in terms of items, credits, and experience. Being a douche is just an added bonus, it's very fun.
+Elliot Gale Sith Lords. Not some ordinary darksiders, but insanely powerful Force sensitives with huge army and many Dark Jedi serving them. KotOR 2 shows it even better, near the end of the game player character following the Dark Side can be extremely powerful, casting the likes of Force Storm, Force Kill or Insanity almost for free.
in my opinion KOTOR should be pioneer of tailored story telling I mean KOTOR 2 should left off from your last save on KOTOR 1. Like Walking dead and Witcher did to some extent.
Attention entire world! Hear my proclamation! I am Darth Revan, Lord of the Sith Empire, and your only Ruler! Malak has fallen to me. As a result of this, I am in control of both the Star Forge and the Sith Fleet, and not even the Jedi Order has the strength to oppose me now. If anyone dares to resist my supreme authority, they shall know the devastating power of the Star Forge! Those who can challenge my military rule no longer exist! Yes, from this day, from this moment forward, the world belongs to me! I, Darth Revan, command you! Obey me subjects! Obey me world!
Yeah he's supposed to be a Republic hero. But tbh he knew he couldn't win against the whole crew and two Sith. He should have covered for Mission as she ran though.
This is way better than the light side ending. We don't even get a promotion like wtf while here we get to be the ruler of the galaxy and get a beautiful apprentice/lover.
@@matthewpettipas8233 no, actually in KotOR 2 if you say at the beginning that Revan was Sith, you can find a holotape about Bastilla, and she is still loyal, even though Revan is gone for a long time
I always loved this ending...kind of poetic justice, they screwed with Revan's mind and after he uncovers the truth he seeks revenge! I was only sad that Mission, Carth, Jolee and Juhani have to die (I got attached to my companions!) It is also sad that darkside Bastilla is right! The Jedi discourage their brightest students from becoming better! Bastilla is just one example, another would Count Dooku (Yoda tried to discourage him from becoming the perfect duelist for lightsaber against lightsaber combat!) and Anakin (who would have needed to become a true master - and gain access to the collection of darkside artifacts - in order to not be easily swayed by Sidious!), hell Ahsoka and Ashara Zavros were also discouraged (hell, the Jedi outright betrayed Ahsoka!)....so yeah, the Jedi order was truly rotten!
Also Rosh Penin from Jedi Academy. Yeah ik he was an annoying immature douche, but Kyle was making him do menial tasks whilst the latter let Jaden actually take part in investigating the Imperial Remmant/Cult of Marka Ragnos.
@@dtxspeaks268 Well, he nearly killed a fellow student (Jaden - so the player-character), with that training bot (could have been set to Luke's training regime and would have probably killed a novice like Jaden!)...Rosh needed guidance, but yeah totally sidelining him wasn't the right idea either (made him fall to the dark-side!)
@@dreamingflurry2729 well Rosh and Ahsoka, unlike Bastila, Anakin in ROTS, and Dooku, were teenagers so their emotions were not all that stable naturally.
I love the Dark Side ending*. IMO this ending definitely feels like it's the right ending. I always thought the Light ending was... lacking. Like "Oh. Okay. Fine. Just like that? Kay. Take your shiny medal and GTFO."
As a person whom leans toward the light side, as well as a person who only makes light side choices in the kotors, I found this hard to watch tbh. Who knew a video game could effect me so much.
i love this ending cause of the dymanic it shows between Revan and Malak, Malak claimed throughout his reign that he earned his title of dark lord of the sith but this was just him trying to reasure himself that he was the rightful ruler, despite the fact that he shot revan in the back this ending shows Malak was not only weaker then the original revan, but his betrayal made Revan stronger, Revan mocks Malak by saying he's going to teach him one final lesson before killing him
So since Lucasfilm basically de-canonized all the preexisting expanded universe, including the games, does that mean that our choices finally matter again in KOTOR? Meaning dark side Revan is canon if we choose him/her to be?
***** Agreed. That's actually one of the reasons why I haven't replayed KOTOR as much as the other Bioware games. Whenever I would create my own Revan, I couldn't help but feel that I was making the "wrong" choices.
Sanguiluna I can't stand hearing this complaint from people. Boo fucking hoo. Need me to call you a Waaahmbulance? They had to make a canon version of Revan so they could write more about him for the Expanded Universe. You don't own Revan, Bioware and LucasArts do. The light and dark side versions (and everything in between) that you played as were still creations of the writer Drew Karpyshyn. You didn't create jack shit, you just played a game.
Sanguiluna Not true. It's just that the definitive canon is a set of tightly scripted and important points. Shepard's canon is that they always died between ME1 and ME2, and always ended up on earth between ME2 and ME3. Then always saved the galaxy. In Dragon Age: Origins, the Warden and their companions always stop the blight. Point being, the really major part, the part that shapes the entirety of that universe, always remains the same, so they can build off it. They achieve this by limiting your choice to within the confines of that narrative. KOTOR gives you two options essentially, A: Good Revan saves the Republic, or B: Bad Revan destroys the Republic. Now if you're going to write a story that takes place after that game, YOU NEED TO PICK ONE. If you say "Why not both?" then you're fucked because those universes are so completely different that you need to write at least two entirely different stories and essentially create two entire games worth of content, and, if you hadn't noticed, they really didn't even have time to create enough content for ONE game, let alone two during the squeal. So yeah, that's their reason. I wouldn't call it an excuse because that's not what it is.
***** Mass Effect is interesting though, because depending on your choices, it's possible that the events of the third game never even happen if Shepard dies in ME2, so ME3 becomes non-canon for those players. Likewise, there are a couple Dragon Age comics that assume Alistair is king, making it canon for those who made him king but non-canon for those who didn't. I imagine SWTOR works the same way: it's canon for those who made a certain choice but non-canon for those who didn't.
Back when Star Wars was willing to let it’s stories be dark and evil characters be evil. Now that Disney owns it the evil characters are all neutered. Look to Book of Boba Fett for proof.
