Very weird with the smoke grenades. I think I preferred it as a cheaper expendable item. Though Cover 3 every turn seems pretty good if you have smoke and d&c on low profile units!

I like the move to Essentials Kit and wish more games went that route. New players sometimes can't split a box, and this provides an alternative to that.

I love the idea of the upgrade card packs. Add in some new rules updates, updated cards, and they'd be a great yearly release, or at least by-yearly.

As always great coverage. Both look good. I think the new releases are setup so that a new player can get their whole squad put together without the need to buy a core set.

I'm so hype to get started with Star Wars Legion... dreaming about that Separatists starter set lol... Darth Maul is incredible too, just sharing the love here haha. If I understand correctly cards are what bring an "update" to the game system right ? I see the core sets are already some years old.

Played my first game the other day at my local game store, learned some of the basics. Lost, but had a lot of fun. I think I might go with the Shadow Collective to start. Two boxes of that set, and then these two boxes you showcased in this video, and Bossk if he works with Shadow Collective 😁

The smoke makes a much more compelling upgrade for sniper units/strike teams. I would increase the point cost though if it's not a 1 time use item

Lead by example, underworld connections, etc., are in the individual unit boxes. Still seems more economical to buy Shadow Collective and card pack rather than all three individual units.

I like the new range tools and movement tool redesigns, the look better, just a little sad now that I spent the time painting the old ones now that better ones are available to purchase.

I’m an imperial player, and my brother plays rebels. We every single piece of content for shadow collective when it came out, and up close and personal has been awesome for us, especially with saber throw. Also Vader has loved finally having burst of speed, since I don’t own yoda

Idk, Frag Grenades are insanely good, but being able to add extra Suppression does have its uses.

I know I'm a bit late but sonic implodes gives units with auto surge to hit that good option for the supressive game :) For example for Close-Up Stormtroopers it's a good use

Will need a few of those new cards. But most of the upgrade are copies. I was also hoping for more rework cards like speeders Laats AT-ST Merc’s would use anything.

There does need to be clarification with the smoke grenades. I am ok with the points not changing because aren’t points changes just for competitive play only? There have been several examples of reprints where the points weren’t changed from the points on the original card.

Legion seems to be growing. AMG seem to be doing better than folks expected. I usually HATE "upgrade". SWL seems to be the least egregious of them. Not overly expensive and they always come with everything you need

Whatever happened to that alternate sculpt Boba Fett that AMG teased around a year ago? One that seemed to be Book of Boba Fett inspired, with a tusken raiders staff.

Cool to see that you can now split a two player box and get the other stuff on the side so both can have everything they need. The cards are pretty cool. does that mean the unit card I got with Cad Bane is useless? Glad I can get cards without buying units I won't use. Glad to see Smoke Grenades change they are awesome for BX droids. Wow some of those new cards are going to be alot of fun.

Considering to start with Legion and picking up the 501. Legion starter set. So when buying the essential set and the upgrade card pack II the Upgrade Card Pack I becomes obsolete? Or do I need to buy that too?

I think it was unrealistic that the smokes were single use. Already the token disappears at the end of the turn so you have to expend an action to place another one. But just like every other grenade you should be able to use them more than once. The others are not single use.

Clarification question: can you run the mercs in the shadow collective? My assumption thematically is yes, but their cards only have the main factions’ icons on them (like empire & CIS for Bossk)
